If it's not too late, a good but time-consuming thing to do is pre drill the wood before the screws go in. Also, you are probably going to go over your 500-pound estimate, but you can get a spring kit for the added weight. One last thing, don't go cheap on your wood and building materials. Good money is well spent. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful day.
put solar panels on the roof of that new camper so you can have electric inside. you can get all of the materials, solar panels, batteries, inverter, etc at HomeDepot and Lowes.
I recommend getting a Lowe's or Home Depot card for your build. They usually have 6 or 12 months 0% financing if it's over a certain amount. Build your credit while building. 😊
You are so logical and fun and inspirational. So happy for you to work on your new camper for your truck. Stella will love it too. A heater and some sort of AC would be good also. You seem so wise above and beyond your age. Let’s go!
I've been down that road Seth... building a camper for my truck... I gave up and ended up buying a used one for $1500 which had a bed, stove and oven, Fridge and lots of space to chill with my dog Koka... We toured the Yukon... in a little Nissan Diesel... It was awesome... but you being a TH-camr will have lots of content to work from. It will be fun watching you trying to do it with no carpentry skills... You are not stupid and I think you know what you are about to embark on to increase your fan base...You have me hooked and I'm looking forward to it.. Keep on trucking Seth, I love your videos.
This year at my caravan park in S.W. Scotland saw a lot of boxes on the roof of 4x4s , which extended upwards with a canvas surround , including plastic windows and vents , even have a mattress in postion , great idea and a small ladder takes you up , the back of the 4x4 is set up and used for cooking with storage for cookware , food storage etc., thought they were a great idea to give you a proper bed and so easily erected once you knew how , some even had a separate awning / tent attached to the vehicle , to have your table , chairs and barbacue , giving shelter from the rain etc., 😊happy travelling Saucy Seth and Happy 2025 😊
Seth I hope you and Stella had a great Christmas with your family. Plus I am looking forward to seeing the camper build. You are so lucky to have Stella with you. She loves you so much.
If you don't know him already - get in touch with Zac Zaller ( on TH-cam ) he has been building a big box truck ( on the inside ) and he has several people that do that for a living helping him. I'm not sure where he is right now - but he travels all over like you do. AT LEAST call him and talk to his helpers and get some hints on how to do it.
My oldest sis luves in Nashville & is the Big dog manager at comfort suite's in Lebanon, Tn .. If ever need a place to park & camp go to her Hotel parking lot I live in Oklahoma, but i believe the hotel is off exit 236 ....
Seth some thought as you move forward with this awesome new project. I remember from past videos that you have had some issues with your ranger. Make sure to put in the plans away to remove the camper if you have any issues in the future. Look forward to seeing the progress as you build your new living space. Please share plans of what you are thinking. For your store… could you do hoodies for adults and children and then dog bandannas? My dog loves to rock a bandanna. Really like this editing style you did. Still a fan of the raw real videos, but this a great change and really enjoying this new style you have come up with.
I think the build is a great idea. You were actually about 90 mins from me, when you left Saint John New Brunswick Canada in October. If you were heading to Nova Scotia, you would have passed through Moncton New Brunswick to get there. Stay Saucy....PEACE!!!
Seth, thank you for this great video and all your videos that I have started binge-watching these last few days. I love all your adventures. You are living the dream that many wish they could escape to. I give you so much credit; you are focusing on all the simple pleasures and adventures that make life exciting. I just subscribed to your channel. I want to support you in your endeavors for freedom and adventure; appreciating all the simple pleasures in life. You really are "roughing it"out there. Stay safe and healthy. I appreciate your "down-to-earth" and engaging personality. Keep doing what you are doing. Your enthusiasm and joy are infectious. From New York City, Robert.
Glad you had a nice Christmas 🎁 with family and Stella,oh I love the scenery of the rain, when you woke up.I love rain,we just don't get rain in El Paso Texas, like we used to 😢. stay safe during New years,as streets will be crowded. The cabin style camper would look awesome, remember if you build it it will come 😅.
het seth. make sure you know your layout before you start it is very important to get that done and if you just winging it can and will have problems in the future. don't cheep out on wood and make sure you water proof the wood if it isn't already. if you need help with layout there's TH-cam or AI if you use AI to make the layout then make sure to give it the correct measurements (say hi to stella. have a happy new year)
Where are you gonna build at? Man I'm so excited for y'all!!!!! Thanks for taking us along for the adventure. I love your truck and I'm stoked you decided to build, oh btw my wife and I have matching PJs pants! 😊 Dang that gas was cheap!
Hi Seth. I don't know if you heard of Andrew Ryan POV or not. But he built two different campers on the back of his pickup truck. Also, Nate from Element Life not too long ago built a homemade camper on the back of his pickup truck as well.
Like I said before in on of the comment section in your video. I wish there was some way you could contact the TV show, "Amazing Spaces." so they can broadcast your progress of converting your truck into a camper trunk....I wish.............
I don’t know anything about carpentry so it will be fun to learn along with you 👍🏼also good idea to save $ and just build up your truck. HAPPY NEW YEAR’S saucy Seth 😊
Ethan has a damaged slide in truck camper, maybe you should reach out to him and see if you can get it for a good price and repair it. He's a blogger who does videos of all his travels, a slide in truck camper would be ideal one with a pop top that raises up and down in a memory foam mattress a window air conditioner I had one and someone stole it and I never saw it again. I paid $10,000 for it and it was the sweetest ever. I had it stored in a warehouse and the methamphetamine people discovered it and stole it.
Definitely try to a get diesel heater. For winter Try to get a truck with a back seat and remove the seats to use it as storage. Too there so many possibilities but good luck definitely make a good roof for your camper learn good storage creativeness and also reinforce, maybe the bed of your truck, like after market shocks and things like that to hold the weight
You better building it more strong then more ligth weight. Is allways gonna move and bounce around everything come loose at one point. Think about the weight you will put in with all your gear a stuff like that it a great idea to build it yourself. Isolation and condesation you need to think about it if you dont want mold forming up. Get some good binding to fix it into the bed truck. Enjoy your new project and have fun most important things God bless you buddy
If you want to make the camper and put a bed or a place to sleep on the roof of the truck that way it saves apace and what ever you want to put or do in it
If you can frame it in with something small. Like 2x2s & use a foam as the walls? With a small thin plywood as sheeting to cover it. For weight & beef up that back suspension to deal with swaying, etc.
Have you ever thought of building out a minivan? You have way move room & Stella can stretch out when u drive. I roamed around in a '84 Chevy 4x4 shortbed with a small camper on back yrs back. It was awesome
cont......But if I did it again I'd do it in a minivan. Take out back 2 rows of seating and make it nice. Minivans are cheap too. Next time ur in Venice FL let me know. Ill take you out for lunch. Pineapple Tequila Tacos are awesome!!
Hey Seth and Stella! Probably the best video you have made yet. Again, great cutaways great job telling your story. Now, not sure what your plans to build are, if you have a place to build it or not, but I've got a half acre fenced back yard if you want/need to come down here for the build out. Probably have most of the tools you will need to use.just let me know if I can help.
oh it's rain. That rain sounds like hail. It is also raining here, in Orangevale, CA. 45 degrees temperature. Very very muddy. Took my Dobermann Chuhuahua out so she could use the backyard to pee and shit......she did her thang.....and then I went to the store to pick up some items for the weekend. Back here watching you.
Hey dude! We should meet out on the road next year! I’m converting my Chevy Cruze to start ‘van life’ in May… so excited to see your build progress! I converted a 99 dodge ram 1500 back in 2020 into a camper so lmk if you need an extra hand :)
LMAO 😂😂😂😂 the look on Stella's face Shes like come on dad are you serious 😅😅😅..I mean I have faith you can do this & I wish you well ...I love keeping up with you & Stella's adventures :) I hope everything works out :) Can't wait to see the outcome :)
For your style of camping it’s gonna be hard to stealth camp. I’d suggest selling the ranger and getting a van something like forestryforest. But either way great content. I’m 1 1/2 hrs north of Knoxville.
Hi Seth are you thinking about building inside of your pickle box with your tail get up or adding the extra couple feet with the tailgate down is something to look into for insulation I would go with a foam and like other comments, I’ve read yes drill first and then screw your screws because most of the wood out there these days it’s so hard you’ll end up cracking in the long run. It will weaken your build. Also take consideration that every screw every bolt everything you use will add weight it goes quick and then all of a sudden you got something you can’t get onto your pick up. That’s another thing to think about how you’re going to get it loaded and tie it down that’s a must otherwise it’ll end up Flying out of your truck. Not a good . I would look at something that you stand up in at least in one part of it. I myself don’t like to have too many roof penetrations because of leaks if you have good cross flow of air from the side to side, that should work I would look into maybe a diesel heater And go solar if you can another thing is when you build over the top or anything that sticks up high, your gas mileage is going to take a dive that will follow suit with the weight as well I know you want to keep the weight down to a minimum it might be hard to do like other people have commented if I were you I would look into a screw gun some drill, bits a type of Skil saw or circular saw probably a caulking gun don’t need anything fancy there. I’m not a carpenter by any means but I am a homeowner that understands what you’re trying to do in the mid 90s. I picked up myself 11 1/2 foot camper and I ended up rebuilding most of the lower part of the walls and the whole bunk over the top of the cab at that time. I was running it on a heavy duty three-quarter ton truck with extrasprings the spare. it was a heavy beast. I had four jacks and I put it on the truck by myself now however I only went 127 miles to go camping that camper had everything under the sun inside of it. there are a lot of guys out there that have built or that our building camper inserts for their trucks. I have watched tons of different videos. There’s lots of good ideas using plywood. You have to remember you need to waterproof it someway oh yeah, and you may want to pick up some clamps but just remember when you’re making the initial tub. Remember you need to figure out a way that you’re going to tie it down. It should be from four points. I know most of those trucks have a four point tight on inside of the box now those are rated for so much so it’s another thing to think about.
Building a cabin on the back is a good economical idea. But it’s probably going to be harder to stealth camp. Good luck bro. Idk about using 1x2 for structural supports. rain content is the best! I be camping at hampton inn's all the time! sometimes they have free chargers
Another great video I’m looking forward to seeing your camper build.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I am super excited to build it!
love how stella just stays right by your side. she doesn't try to dart out. just stays right there.
Loyalty of an animal ❤

If 1/4” plywood you may want to look at how the 4wheel popup campers are built. They use an aluminum frame to keep the weight down.
Good luck!
Seth I hope you and Stella had a great Christmas with your family. Plus I am looking forward to seeing the camper build. You are so lucky to have Stella with you. She loves you so much.

If you have never done anything like building I highly suggest using a level and a seed square. Measure twice before making your cuts. You got this
Hi to you Kenny ❤
You got this Seth! Can’t wait to see your finished work.

This is so sick… so excited to see this journey. Should be really good for you too content wise. Good goin man
I actually built my own tall cap for my tundra, it’s plywood coated in fiberglass, was a fun project
het seth. make sure you know your layout before you start it is very important to get that done and if you just winging it can and will have problems in the future. don't cheep out on wood and make sure you water proof the wood if it isn't already. if you need help with layout there's TH-cam or AI if you use AI to make the layout then make sure to give it the correct measurements

Poor pupper, drooling over your food and not getting any. 😞
Really enjoy your videos Seth. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with on your camper build. I'm sure it will be awesome!! (Chris in Indy)
Good plan Seth, keep the "Danger Ranger" 👍
Looking forward to the new build man
Awesome Seth...can't wait to see how you do it
As usual, it's a great video, and hopefully that you can make the camper for your truck safe and secure
....sounds a great iDea...the build that is.... you'll have fun
Where are you gonna build at? Man I'm so excited for y'all!!!!! Thanks for taking us along for the adventure. I love your truck and I'm stoked you decided to build, oh btw my wife and I have matching PJs pants! 😊 Dang that gas was cheap!
Good video. Can't wait to see the truck camper when it's done. Sounds exciting.
Looking forward to seeing the new camper, its always good to learn. Take your time and it will be a nice camper.
Hi Seth. I don't know if you heard of Andrew Ryan POV or not. But he built two different campers on the back of his pickup truck. Also, Nate from Element Life not too long ago built a homemade camper on the back of his pickup truck as well.
I would put some air bags on the back to help the ride quality better / won’t make so much stress on your suspension… good luck brother🤙🇺🇸
The hair and stache combo coming together
hahaha im trying!

Beef up that back suspension to deal with the drivabity. When turning corners, you don't need lots of swaying & pulling you off the road.
I hope you and Stella had a good Christmas.
we had a wonderful Christmas! hope you did too.
Do not forget to get quality water proofing and insulation.
You better building it more strong then more ligth weight. Is allways gonna move and bounce around everything come loose at one point. Good luck on the truck camper seth
seth i wish you the best in this new build but could you please sell me the topper once the build is complete. so hard to find man
It looks like your mind is made up already, but one of those add-on tents would actually give you and
Stella more room.

It's funny its pouring rain in the pnw southern Oregon & I'm in my 2001 Toyota Sienna mini van. The rain keeps me awake.

I love those freeze dried ice cream sandwiches.
Hey don't forget to remember you got a factor in the wind as you're pushing against the one by ones the wind Force
Great thinking! I will factor that in.
Building a cabin on the back is a good economical idea. But it’s probably going to be harder to stealth camp. Good luck bro. Idk about using 1x2 for structural supports. You might consider aluminum structure then use wood siding. Keep looking up people who have built these.

Hey Seth, I'm excited to see 👀 😆 how your camper project 😀 turns out! It'll take some doing, I'm sure. Just have some patience with its construction 🚧 so you can be happy 😊 😃 with how it turns out!😅
GOOD LUCK 🥰
You have an excellent setup and want to add you and your dog are awesome brother. I wish you the best on your travels and journey. Have you planned for when it becomes too warm to stay in the camper?. You also have a new subscriber too.🤝💪🏻
Stella is so cool 😎
Although I was all for camper build but seeing how you stealth camp a lot this camper may make that difficult. My best to you.
Your dog is so awesome
Im so excited for u❤
I think that's exactly what you should do man build it it's going to be nice in cheaper than buying something new you got this man
Good show this week. I really do enjoy you and Stella having a good time. But what was up with the give away? Who won??
Awesome
Be careful with the height due to low bridges.
Seth have you thought about using aluminum instead of wood? It would be lighter I think.
Ford Fu*king rangerrrrrr 🤙🏻🤙🏻
truckhouselife!
I have seen some using pellets wood to build tiny homes maybe this will help u too in cost
That sound sounds like Hail not rain!!!!
What’s the song in the beginning of the video? Love the content!
Have you thought of building it on a trailer?
I love your videos and you be blessed 🙏 buddy. Love you ❤ from Florida USA 👼 🫂 🥰 your very cute too !
If you have any questions, I can try to help. I’m not in your state. I’m up in Minnesota.
