Truly beautiful. My sensei introduced me to him just recently. Man is practically a Nito God, but it's interesting that he was know as " Jodan Toda " before his Nito days, and won All Japan two times, in 1962 and 1964 before his transition to Nito. He started with Nito in 1989 according to a Tozando article, tho he was a pioneer that started " Jodan boom " in Japan.
He was one of a kind in deed, a "avis rara" of Kendo. His vision of Jodan was esotheric, mysthical. Had the chance of talking to him almost every night for a few questions and he was truly a mighty swordsman. Had met several 8th Dan famous ones but Toda Sensei was something else, I think he was a good man and also a genius of Kendo.
Yes indeed, also very powerful in the 8th Dan division, he was several times in the 3 first places, he did his 8th Dan in Nito Ryu (this is almost impossible, even in chudan it is very hard, so, this is beyond extraordinary) I had the chance in my small expirience to know some 8thDan, but I'd never met some one like him, he's something else. Toda Sensei is a truly mighty swordsman,

Two times All Japan champion!
Yeah & te 1st one to achieve 8th Dan in NIto. He knows the complete circle, Chudan, Jodan, Nito, and he is doing Chudan again.
