    Bravo Zulu Docs. A difficult job to deal with the end of life, but you and your crew do so with the utmost dignity and respect for the Fallen and their families. Your's is a job few outside the service know of, but those who do, hold you all in the highest regards. Semper Fidelis et Semper Fortis.

    Thank you so much for your dedication and love. It takes a very special kind of person to do what you do so very well. I come from a family, a huge line, of men who served in our wonderful US Navy. My 15 year old nephew will be joining your ranks in just 2 1/2 years. I’m so proud of him for continuing our Navy line. Again, thank you and God bless you.

    I believe pallbearers should be dressed in the dress uniform of their respective branch. Sorry but I think the NWU or combat uniforms look sloppy.

    • @rwboa22
      @rwboa22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At minimum it should be either blue or white dress with white pistol belt and leggings. No need to go "all out" like the Honor Guard in D.C. with full-size medals ascot scarves and braided shoulder rope, but at least done up like the old Shore Patrol details.

    I've participated in 62 military funerals whilst on "stash duty" waiting for an "A school" class to begin. Most of them were routine enough, if you can call a funeral a routine duty. You learn to compartmentalize things and deal with your own emotions "off duty". But we did one funeral for a recently promoted sailor who had made Chief (E7). That's a BIG DEAL in the Navy. He was a master diver and he was young, only 32. He had a young wife and 2 very young children. When I presented her the flag from that had draped his coffin, it was one of the hardest duties I've ever performed in the military. They always told us "DO NOT look them (whoever is getting the flag) in the eyes, look at their forehead. I understood the advice, but never followed it because I believed everyone deserved the respect of eye-contact. But I very nearly lost it looking at this young widow. God bless you all at Dover, and all the families that support all of our service members!

      Talk to the recruiter(s) about what you want to do, and join the service that will get you to your goal. The HM1's in this video are better trained than their USMC counterparts. The sailors are both trained morticians, while the Marine featured in "Mortuary Marines" was an amphibious assault vehicle driver.

      @@paulbradford8240 sorry you misunderstood. I fully understand that the fallen are given the honour of wearing the best uniform of their branch. What I meant was a more appropriate uniform for those preparing the uniform. I feel the camouflage rig is not really appropriate for the job they do.

      @@robharris5245 the Navy Work Uniform is in what it's called, a work uniform. Since 2019, they no longer wear the "Type I" pattern (what you see there), but the "Type III" similar to the Marines' "Woodland" MARPAT uniforms. Truthfully, the Navy should have adapted the now-obsolete two-tone blue Dickies-like "Utility" uniforms (the direct descendant of the old WW2-era Dungaree uniforms) with white Sailor cover as the Service Dress "Bravo" uniform instead of the tan and midnight blue uniform similar to the Marines' Service "Charlie", the dark blue utility uniforms identical to the Coast Guard's utility uniform with ball cap for all shipboard work details and any shore duties that require their wearing (such as aviation support crews at TOP GUN or the Blue Angels) and reserve the cammoflague uniforms for the Fleet Marine Forces and Navy CB (Sea Bee) units.

  • @robharris5245

    I was referring to the current members as to wear a plain black uniform. Not the fallen. Wearing camouflage uniform seems somewhat disrespectful.
