Remember to analyze everything, even grass planks and weed stems for more base options. Multi-story bases is available for purchase from BURGL, which unlocks stairs and grass floors. Jon crafting a bow to hunt the spider then completely forgetting to craft arrows and ending up tossing the bow at the spider is the 1 perception I'm here for
This was fun to watch. I'm not a huge survival sim guy, but this game looks fun, and it was funny watching you tinker with stuff. I really hope you'll do a sequel to this video, because I'd like to see you continuing to uncover the world this game provides. Just three bits of advice: thistles would be the giant weeds with the purple flowers, try spending more time grabbing & analyzing stuff to see what you can unlock, and next time, try building multiple bases and/or bigger bases, because you're clearly going to run out of room for all your stuff.
Build on top of the baseball that twig wasn't just for sap. Then you can scout around for a spot for a bigger base. I love how you made all the mistakes we all did first time out. I was laughing by the end because I knew what was coming.
Orb weavers don't usually walk around and hunt in the grass. They're called orb weavers because they craft big beautiful spiral and orb shaped webs. Then they wait for their food to come to them. You usually find them under your eavestrough or deck overhangs. They're also very territorial, and you wouldn't usually find two of them together, unless it's mating season, and a male managed to get onto a females web without getting eaten.
You need truckloads of arrows (from thistle) and lots of sniping to deal with the spiders at first. Then you can use their parts to make a better bow and repeat the procedire.
Fun fact, ants will have something of a grave yard in their nests...it's more of a trash bin I guess but they carry their dead off to a specific part of the nest so as to not leave corpses laying around.
I've read that scientists doused some live ants in dead-ant pheromones and their un-doused siblings went on to forcibly dump them into the corpse pile repeatedly 'til the smell faded. I know they're ants and all, but I gotta say they're dumber than I'd've expected sometimes.
Two men are camping alone in a forest. The first man brought a cooler of beer, and is somewhat inebriated. He says to his friend how relaxing it is to be out in the wilderness. His friend asks him to be silent for a moment, and to listen to the sounds of the Forest, the first man asks why they were supposed to be silent, to which the second man replies that everything the two of them heard in that moment of silence wanted to kill them.
It seems like a really cool game that's honestly incredibly wasted on being a derivative survival game. The setting is so damn cool and the spiders especially are terrifying, this would make a great open world game in a larger setting, an open world game with some co-op functions and/or multiplayer modes would be awesome. Especially if it was a little on the spookier side rather than whimsical and fun. Imagine a section where you have to trudge through a "massive" forest and there's just huge spider webs everywhere and countless dead bugs they've sucked dry. Add in some tree climbing mechanics and you could have some epic battles where you're trying to knock them and other insects off so you can glide huge distances. Damn that would be cool.
This made me buy the game and it's amazing. Nice to see this video after playing the finished version, all the small improvements are noticeable. So rare to see a big game these days that feels properly made and finished. Runs just fine on my 6 year old desktop.

When you mentioned spiders not climbing, it kind of exposed a glaring issue with the games lifeforms. *All* of them can in RL climb just fine. So once you realize that and see everything only crawl on the ground, its kind of an immersion killer.

You can solo a spider fairly easy once you get the perfect block down. Block just as they attack and you take no damage. Also, the Ant Club weapon is a game changer.
