Theshy was so fucking scary in 2018 because he did something nobody else did. He wasnt only the most talented top laner in the world at the time but he also played with ZERO fear of his oppontents. He played WORLDS like it was solo que and limit tested on the biggest stage of them all. The literal embodiment of a giga chad top laner. Luckily this year is looking like the return of Theshy (and Rookie for that matter).
TheShy was hands down the best player at World's 2018 by far. Now everyone knows his name.

I watched every worlds 2018 game live from NA East (I really was that dedicated). When I saw TheShy sidestep Perkz's Irelia ult, I lost my damn mind... That Game 3 vs KT was insane too with that Fiora; Probably the best match I've watched since I started watching pro league.

It's hard to imagine this before I watch the finals, "you mean one guy versus the likes of caps, bwipo, rekkles, broxah, and hyli? You kiddin me?" But that's really what happened especially in game 2, theshy's irelia basically 1v5 fnatic UNDER FNACTIC's nexus turrets and survived! And then he 1v4 fnatic near the spawn the casters were saying this guy is mad or something, but I think he's buying time for his teammates to destroy as many turrets and inhibitors as possible he's not crazy it's just he is strong enough to stall and bait fnatic to focus on him instead of all the other teammates.
It's fun watching theshy play and I only know him and other iG members through worlds. Haven't seen consistent outplays at the world stage until seeing theshy, his plays are so sick. I know Ning is the whole tournament MVP but muh boi TheShy should be a close 2nd.

Those who said TheShy 2018 wasn't the best toplaner in League history clearly didn't watch Worlds 2018 live. Yes, his prime wasn't long (~ 1 year), but he peaked the highest amongst the likes of MaRin, Smeb or Khan.

Just to mention the shy was a riven main before, a good riven mains could adopt their great mechanics, positioning and snowballs the game very hard.

There was ardent censor at that time and the meta was mainly on bot so he was forced to play tanks in order to protect his ADC instead of a carry toplaner.

Ning maybe mvp in Worlds.... but TheShy still carries the whole 3 games
TheShy and Rookie carried IG to the finals. The Shy didnt do that much in the actual finals though, maybe he knew it was gonna be a 3-0 but he went too aggro and died needless deaths in all 3 games that slowed down IG's tempo briefly. Had some big moments with Irelia but otherwise pretty standard. Ie. He did well in lane vs Urgot as Sion + Made some good roams in game 3 as Aatrox but that is pretty standard compared to what he was doing against IG.
only real gs remember when he was just a solo queue riven player in s4-s5
How do I put this. Hmm A lot of pro players do have theshy’s mechanical Caliber but what makes theshy a much better top laner is that first he is not afraid not just get it in there. A lot of players are afraid to make plays because they are afraid to get outplayed and cause trouble for the team, not theshy. He is so confident in his own abilities to carry the game. Watching him play is like watching TFBlade in solo queue, a mechanical God with a much larger champion pool than blade. Also a side note, theshy speaks Korea whereas the rest of IG communicates in Chinese so sometimes he would not know he needs to back off, but sometimes that eventually benefits the team. For example that fight in the river with Aatrox, the team told him to back off but he didnt know instantly what they were saying so he went in anyway and did an insane AOE dmg to G2.
I hope he plays khan in worlds 2019. I'm dying to see them 1v1 top

TheShy is simply insane. He said that we was gonna keep his team from over aggression and yet he went Berserk LOL. I can understand Chinese so its really funny listening to the mic when IG plays. They are all insane aggressors, love attacking and all have natural team instincts in a fight. They definitely care less about the macro game sense tho.
Its so funny when a 5v5 is about the go down and you hear rookie going "wait wait wait, not yet, don't go yet!!!" and all the members are so ready to jump in. And ofcourse the one that never listens is TheShy LMFAO

You dont need to beat him but just contain him. The rest of his team is imo on his shoulders. If you can prevent him from taking over the game. I think FNC can win. But I dont think Bwipo or SoaZ can do it.
