  • In this video, I replace the fuel filler flap locking motor / solenoid. This was necessary because the old motor did not open all the way, which meant I'd always struggle to pry the flap to open when I needed to get gas. The whole ordeal was easier than expected, so if you have the same problem, I definitely feel replacing it is doable.
    Part numbers:
    - Fuel filler flap locking motor: 12786283
    Tools needed:
    - Torx 20, 25 and 30 screwdriver
    - 10 millimeter socket + ratchet
    - Small screwdriver
    - Ideally, a car trim removal tool

    Closing notes:
As much as I think that working on your car is both great fun and very cost-effective, any work you do on your car is at your own risk. Please work safely - I've been saved by good safety equipment more than once. Don't do stupid things - don't work under a car supported only by a jack, don't use sharp tools without protective gloves, and do get yourself a nice pair of safety goggles.
