Another beautiful fly brilliantly tied Ryan, the treble hook flies are lovely but I would rip my fingers apart trying to tie them , unless I found some way of covering the points.

Cheers for the kind words mate. Yes you can cover the points with 2 safety pins on elastic bands put the safety pin head over the 2 top points on the treble and pull the elastic bands back over the vice to keep the pins on tight. Hope that makes sense 👍

I'm on a low budget right now, what would be the go to tying braid? I'm just getting into painting lures and would like something extra on them any tips or advice about setting off tying trebles would be gratefully appreciated. The bump that you heard was my jaw hitting the floor whilst watching you tie you incredible fly, out of this world 👍😷👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Brilliant camera work too 👍😷👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Thank you for the kind words, trebles are hard so take your time and be patient things will go wrong but don’t worry it happens to us all. Start off with bigger trebles rather than smaller ones until you get your bearings.
UTC ultra thread is the best I’ve found so far in the 70 denier or 8/0 but you can go bigger in thread diameter if your doing big stuff or find you can’t use the thinner stuff as your snapping it, if so maybe try the 6/0 thread first.
I’m just a beginner myself so always learning and always open to new ideas. Make sure you keep your thread waxed as it really does make a difference on grip of the thread when tying and keeps everything tight.
Good luck with your journey, I hope I’ve helped!

@@silverbarsalmonflies5082 That sounds like brilliant advice. I have an abundance amount of patients, I love to involve as much details as possible. The size of hook will be big to start with, and I'm expecting some blue language will be used when I hook myself. I've got to familiarise myself with the different threads and their denier. Would beeswax be OK to wax the thread? I think the smallest hook that I will be aiming for would be a 6 or 4. I'll take all your advice and I'm going to order the 6/0 thread right now. Thanks again for for your reply and extensive advice I really appreciate it. Take care my friend.👍😷👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Beeswax should be ok but I use proper tying wax from veniard. Get a thin piece of it cut off with a Stanley or sharp knife and warm it up by rolling it between your hands and then flatten it out so you can fold it onto your finger to use whilst tying. Your body heat on your finger should keep it warm and pliable. If it cools off just rub it hard between your fingers to heat it back up and flatten it across your finger again

Ryan would size #6 be the most popular treble for tying ?

I've no idea sorry, its all dependent on personal preference and what rivers your fishing. I use anything from 14 up to 6 👌

@@silverbarsalmonflies5082 no problems I was going to give tying trebles a go but wasn't too sure what size to get, so thought it might be easier to start with the 6 it might be kinder to my big fingers 😂
