I remember when those trains first hit revenue service back in the mid 90's on the 2 line. I rode it just once when I was in camp. "I'll never forget that good experience"
The way the seating arrangemen'ts were like yea and the way it looked on the outside but naw the R142/A's look's way better. Even though the inside of the car they have their seat's on the side, that whole interior "to me" look's way better!!!!!!!!!
@@kaifreeman286 Not really. When I saw the mock up at the Transit headquarters in Brooklyn I was very disappointed! The R 110 was the first IRT CARS that had forward facing seats since the old time elevated cars, they were colorful and a comfortable ride. The single seats on the R- 142 near the conductor/motormans cab on is loud frightening & noisy & slams up when a passenger gets up! R- 142 door arrangements are criss cross and the loungitude seating I'm tired of facing people on these cars. I'm sorry I like the 142 cars but the R 110 A looked a lot better that was the original!
R110A: ARGHHHHH I returned R142A: But you are pump train now R110A why does this happen to me? R142: The MTa doesn't need you as a service train anymore, you were only used to test experimental technology for R142s and R160 R110A: For real? R160: Bro, you helped us in the 1990s, now us R160s and r142s are built, you sadly had to retire R110A: WHY?!?
Yeah right, like the circle Windows R 11 stainless steel subway cars on division B in 1948/ 1949? At least they were in service and also experimentals rebuilt to modifications to R 34 in 1965. Those cars were supposed to be on the Second Avenue Subway... Only never made it the project was dumped! They made it there after Division B finally opened except this time The R 11/R 34 as the New York City Transit Museum's "Train Of Many Metals" (I had the pleasure of riding it ☺) another historic shame by the mta with those cars so called experimental and the later B Division R 110 B! I never got to ride them at all! Sad. 😭
Awesome catch DJHammers, I am so glad to see that the R110A is being put to use as a pump train for Maintenance of Way Service. It's interesting to see how part of the R110A pump car gets it's power from the solar panels inside the car. Do you think the R110B's at 207th Street yard will be used as pump trains in the future? I also notice that at 215th Street station on the 1 line, at the end of the platform, you can still find R110A, #8010 and an R110B with the original parts still on the car.
From what I had last seen but that was a few months back. I am going to check the 215th street station again because recently, I noticed R110A and R110B cars on one of the yard tracks close to the Harlem River with yellow work equipment cars in front of them. Those cars might be the ones that I saw on the curve at 215th street a while back.
The MTA should use the remainder r110a’s that are sitting in storage for conversion to r142 and r142 b cars. I don’t know what they should use the r110bs in storage, but it feels like a waste still having them sit around and not scrap them or repurpose them.
How did they turn the consist.? Pushing on the Pelham line and pulling everywhere else... Did it spin at the (Brooklyn) bridge? Sure hated it for the Conductor, he looked cold as hell...
The original Technology train! What a shame to see those beautiful cars as a work pump train instead of passenger service. I was looking forward to riding them on division A. Just like Metro North Railroad did to the BUDD SPV cars, New york city subways didn't care enough about these cars as well! I rode them a few times and they were a luxury ride and smooth! The seats were beautiful color forward facing in every variety of colors! I miss them & the mta blew it! SO much excuses & so much negligence to save them! As for the R 142 cars? The seating arrangements is a slap in the face compare to the R 110! As a subway fan & critic I feel cheated & robbed not to have these cars in service today! Miss you R 110's!
The R-100A Was Not A Regular Passenger Train, It Was A Prototype Test Train For The IRT A Division (R142 & R142A) Class Trains. Regardless The R110A Was Gonna Retire & Get Taken Out Of Service So Stop Asking Transit Or DJ Hammers To Bring Something Dead Back To Life

I spent most of the summer of 1993 and 1994 chasing them. No internet, I just camped out at an island platform station and waited.
Those cars look extra crispy
These cars are honestly better looking than the R142/A’s

Unfortunately they were more combustible as well. I did love their seating arrangements, tho.
@@F40PH-2CAT Yeah I wish they would stop making the doors wider than they need to be and bring back more comfortable seating.

Wait who disliked it
A sad story for R110A
😂 Lmfao so true
The lighting on OL931-932, N1, R88, and N1 Crane Shove very pretty at night
To be honest, it kinda hurts to see the R110A's as pump cars...
#BringBackTheR110A
Yeah
Also the r110a looks so nice in the light
Yea, if anything they should of used it for the 42nd street shuttle and the R110B's for the Franklin Ave shuttle.
I understand, but the R110s were just experimental

omg i love this, future new trains. i wonder how the inside looks like. i hope it has space. i miss the old trains
Ismael Negrillo these are retired
I love The Lexington Ave line it's one of my most favorite train Groups
Now that is a supreme rare catch.
Those cars ruled the 90s
False.
The lighting on OL931-932 very pretty at night
Are all of the R110as pump cars now, or were some left alone? I wish they preserved one for permanent display at the Transit Musuem
It definitely would have been a unique fantrip.
Nicely done
NICE,,VIDEO,👍
I wished I have ride the r110a but I was born 8 years after they were retired😞
What great cars they were

I Never see a R110A-Type Pump Train before
Dj Hammers
so did they take away the r110a's traction motors?

CrimsonJPEG Why?
ive heard of those subway cars years ago.
Is there anything left in the R110A?
No, they removed the speakers and the side LED sides.
BenTheMiner / MTA Railfanner Expect the A cars to be converted soon.
Soon? Damn that's sad no preserving for the R110A cars at all the R110B still lives on
@@BenTheMiner exactly they couldve left on r110a car with everything it came with
Soon in the future those cars will be either dumped in the ocean as artificial reefs or scrapped.
Nice video!
nice work
I like the R110A
I Knew I Wasn’t High , The Pump Cars We’re In Westchester Yard, I Saw Them Just Sitting Their
I remember seeing them at the Coney Island yard as well.
7:39 is this station part of the IND? thats strange since these pump trains cant serve IND and IRT subway tunnels at the same time
Yea,it's on the D line.
Why Were These Turned In To Pump Trains?
Where was this being transfered to?
How did they turn the consist.? Pushing on the Pelham line and pulling everywhere else... Did it spin at the (Brooklyn) bridge? Sure hated it for the Conductor, he looked cold as hell...
The R110A cab cars should be converted soon.
The A cars should be converted this year
Nice man! How often does this happen?
It's pretty rare. Pump trains don't go out on the system often.
Is 1:16 the sam3 from transit and tech

It would be better if they add those metal rope things between the cars

Don’t worry. The R142/A is essentially the R110A, only with a few minor upgrades. They’re essentially the same thing.

I wanna see these run in revenue service
William Scoufaras 25 years too late. I caught em in 1992/93 on the 2 line
han hanzo I know. I wish I could have rode one before they retired
They can't, most equipment in the cars are gone and replaced with pump equipment.
R42 J Productions I think those are the only cars left
William Scoufaras the A-unit cars are stored in the 207st yard
Wow MTA so rude would leave these trains in service now u made the train upset
1:13 is that a new announcement?
No, it's a Not in Service announcement
I never heard it before myself first time hearing that not in service announcement
Train Operator-R160B_Productions wow we got a Mr perfect everyone
Parkside Productions nope, used since 2010
