“Can you just recommend an AFFORDABLE olive oil that I can find in the supermarket?” This is one question I keep getting - and it’s a fair question. In fact, we’re working on a follow-up video to compare some of the big-name everyday extra-virgin olive oils… but there are so many out there. Bertolli, Colavita, Pompeian, Filippo Berio, California Olive Ranch… what are the ones YOU would like me to test and talk about?
I buy Chania Kritis PGI evoo 500ml from Lidl here in the uk for £6.95. It’s lovely and from the same area as the Greek one you reviewed. It’s a great great one for someone on a budget
In Croatia, the entire region called ISTRA has been declared the world's best destination for olive oils. Many of the oils in general, from Croatia, regularly win first places in competitions due to their quality. Just enough so that you have the information.
@JEFFQUICKLE9 I know that you can buy them in the US, but probably in rare stores (not in super markets) and not in a large selection. Production here is not in large quantities like in Spain, Italy and Greece, but the quality is therefore better. Awards (gold and other medals) at international competitions speak best about this.
Croatia had the highest percentage of awards vs. entries in this year's NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL OLIVE OIL COMPETITION, which has just concluded, surpassing Italy, Spain, and Greece. Very impressive!
@@johnbanach3875 Thank you... this only confirms my claims as well as the claims of many digital nomads on TH-cam, who, as tourists in Croatia, comment in general on the quality of food, olive oils and wines.
Olie oil is a miracle medicine. I am from Izmir city ( Smyrna) of west Turkey. My father used to purchase stone pressed olive oil from his villager customers. My mum was cooking rice, pasta, soups, vegan meals...etc with olive oil. When i first purchased olive oil from a shop i shocked the taste was awfull, that time i realized how my mouth used to COLD PRESS VIRGIN OLIVE OIL. Real Virgin Olive oil always has a little bitter, a little heavy but flavored taste. For new beginners I would advise add a little ground red pepper or apple vinegar, oregano, lemon to your olive oil, and try it with bread , but not the sweetened breads, sourdough bread preferably. This way you can used to real virgin olive oil taste, than use your olive oil for any of your meals, except fries (don't waste your olive oil) Never ever buy a rafinated olive oil, and never go a cheap one. Enjoy your miracle Olive Oil.
Hi....thanks for the recipe I believe this is what I was looking for..my daughter used to work in a restaurant that served oil with bread and she told me how the people loved it but she didn't know how they made it.😉
Last year while wine tasting in Paso Robles, Ca. My wife and I came across an olive oil tasting room. We decided to stop and try. We enjoyed it just as much as the wine tasting.
Yes, you're right. It makes way more sense to drop some bucks on a truly fine EVOO that will last you a month than on a bottle of wine that you'll finish off at one dinner.
I remember seeing your tour and loved it. Just now had to retool on how to shop EVOO and this is a very well done video. Thank you for getting the right info well organized and pleasingly presented.
When I visited Zakynthos, Greece, aside from the beautiful places, culture, and food, I had the opportunity to visit Zante olive press museum. After learning the history of how olive oil was made in the island, I bought 4 bottles of EVOO from them. Unfortunately they don't have an easily accessible online shop so I had to email them to order more.. not to mention shipping can be about $50+ international so I made sure to buy a lot.
Unfortunately, most of the best oil from Greece cannot be easily acquired. We import our oil from ancestral lands. Nothing added, straight oil from the olive. You often don't know what you're getting from commercially purchased oil.
I first heard of watering down olive oil with other oils in 2000. Before that I heard of watering down milk with water. This video sounds like a path to quality oil, but what I enjoyed was watching them taste the oil. There are local olive growers in my county. To me, that would be the healthiest and what better way to buy something not shipped half-way across the Globe. With food, you are always trusting someone. I was told with rumored "watered-down milk" that you can "really taste the milk" in the pure one. So most importantly, trust your taste buds and any perceived changes in your health. Be observant.

Just a side story- one year I went to participate in the harvest of olives, in the hills of Judea (the process is called "Masik" here in Israel). I was not a young dude, but a 50 years old established man. I tell you-- that was a time of peace of mind, tranquility and ditching all the urban daily troubles behind and connecting with nature; good for the soul. At the end of the day, we gathered around an ancient milling/pressing stone wheel, probably 2,000 years old (called Gat, or Ghat), we pulled together and pressed out some olive oil. The taste was amazing, as you can probably guess...

Could u consider do I g a segment on where pine nuts come from. I know they are from the pinyon tree but are they grown in farms? We make so much pesto I’ve become interested in the nuts
They are in Arizona. Pinion is just a type of pine tree.
Thank you so much for this episode. I’ve been on the Evoo rollercoaster lately also, now ready for more.
PS: my garden is doing great this year whilst implementing some of your best tips I’ve picked up over the years.
So great to hear your garden is doing well! 🙌 And that I can help with your EVOO selection. I can honestly say the oils in this video are outstanding.
We are producer of Organic premium quality EVOO you may check the product once and you will notice the difference.
Would you recommend Theoni?
I don't see Great Value, on your site. How does it compare?
Do you ship olive oil to Canada?
This Aunty is so pretty, I want to buy all of the merch. I'll buy anything she is shilling for. I even clicked the thumbs up, "like button", twice.
El mejor aceite es el de España , luego en Italia también se hace buen aceite pero a veces los italianos lo compran en España y lo etiquetan como de ellos 😏
Hello that is so excellent doing 👏 great job so wonderful bless you both ❤️ 💖 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I like to know what the smoke tolerance level of the Entelia oil? I am trying to avoid high heat tolerance oils due to they are not 100 percent pure oils if they high smoke rated.
Also I like to know of what do you mean by the word First pressed, like first pressed then what?
After that pressed again or the second step is watering it down, I am more interested to see the word Cold pressed..
Might be a dumb question, how do you make the oil flow from the bottle?
I need help please I’m trying to find a quality high polyphenol olive oil to drink asa shot with lemon daily. Which should I use? One of these premium oils or ?
Superbo has a very high count, its super healthy for you.

I just get mine at Whole Foods for around 25 bucks a bottle. Garci’a Cruz from Spain tastes good to me. Only been eating healthy for a year so I’m no expert on anything.
Well played!
HY what about the Rincón de la Subbética ?
Great choice!
The olive oil from Crete Greece 🇬🇷 is the best! Do you know that some countries buy olive oil from Greece and rebaptise it as theirs?
This is Spanish one. Only Jaen province produces as much olive oil than Italy,.second world producer. Spain produces half of all world olive oil
The best olive oil is italian 🇮🇪💯
You have to spend $18 to $30 a bottle or more it's up to your favorite kind 😊
