    You may want to revisit this topic. NJ has changed a lot of requirements and are essentially making it very hard for folks to comply. From testing recipes at your own expense to new ingredient designations. Its very different for folks entering this now vs. when it first began. Very, very sad for those who already started and have to change what they do. The state did not announce or make any significant notification of changes until it was done. Please do an update based on 2024 rules. Thanks and love the videos.

    Cool info! Been thinking of making and selling caramels at farmers markets! Kinda sucks I can’t sell it through a few mom and pop stores but if I get it just right and I see it doing well I guess I could use the local firehouses kitchen since it’s certified and make it an official business

    • @MarketingFoodOnline
      @MarketingFoodOnline  ปีที่แล้ว

      well there is a way not "around" this BUT you can start at home and bring samples to retailers you would like to sell to with a sell sheet and then get Purchase orders and use a commercial ONLY to fill those orders.

    • @Godfather9814
      @Godfather9814 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarketingFoodOnline so like like advertise it there? So like use a commercial kitchen to fill those orders? Cause I’m sure if I donate a little something to the department they’ll let me cook out of there

    Hello , Do I need same time of documentations if I want to grow and sell micro greens ? And can I sell to direct people over a website and farmer market on stands?
    Thanks

    • @MarketingFoodOnline
      @MarketingFoodOnline  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      great idea micro greens are HUGELY profitable I have not seen anything saying you cant sell these from home under cottage BUT I have also not seen anything saying you can ? So I would call your local department of agriculture office they have offices in every state ask them how you could do this from home

    Also what permits do I need if I wanted to occasionally "pop up" at a park that already has bbqgrills or if I brought my own and started barbecuing and selling that food is that even possible I see people do it... But is it legal and what is required thank you for all the training you've been putting out there much appreciated can't wait to hear your answer to this one 🥳

      Already checked into it. The cheapest option for that is a food truck. You cant sell meat from just a grill. U need prep tables, washing station all that. It sucks.

    The title “is it legal just sell food from home in New Jersey” It’s very misleading. Your video is about the Cottage food law, which only covers foods that don’t require temperature control (Baked goods, breads, snacks, etc.).

    Can you sell cupcakes with cream cheese frosting since cream cheese is dairy and the frosting isn't baked?

    • @GM-xm4hw
      @GM-xm4hw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@barbra429 your question is from a year ago when you likely have the answer but for anybody else reading your question now what he’s saying is cream cheese frosting needs to be temperature controlled to stay safe (it needs to be refrigerated) so you cannot sell cream cheese frosting. Other types of frostings when left out of the fridge won’t become a health hazard.

    • @MarketingFoodOnline

      unfortunately no due to the time and temp sensitivity of the food product you would need a commercial kitchen of some kind to make these. They see it as potentially hazardous food products
