Carli Lloyd is one of two people to ever get a hat trick in the finals of a fifa world cup men or women. The last time this was accomplished was in the 1966 World Cup by Geoff Hurst of England…. Yes this is one of the most remarkable things of the history of the world cup men or women. Correct me if I am wrong but this was the first time there was a goal scored from half field durning the fifa tournament men or women let alone the final game. Carli Lloyd deserves all the recognition she can get!

I like how far women's football has come, very entertaining and a different world order from the men's international game. Let's hope it continues to grow and we start to see exceptionally talented technical players come through having been inspired by the forebearers.
I had the honour to be a flag bearer at some games at Moncton, and I witnessed firsthand that stunning strike by Colombia Versus Mexico... I believe I have fan footage of the goal buried in my phone somewhere. An absolute dream experience.
Goal #6 DeVanna's goal is a surprise within the top 10. It was a slow ball rolling to her on the ground (no bouncing), with no defender between her and the goal and the goalkeeper was on the other side of the goal. Heck, it was almost easier than a penalty shot! DeVanna's own effort against Sweden was much more impressive.
It's not so much the finish, but the whole play. It was an incredible team goal

A few of the others were more goalie lapses than great goals in my opinion as well. Still, some pretty good goals, like #7 was dead accurate, defense and goalie never stood a chance!

US\A fan here but I still feel genuine sorrow for Japan's goalkeeper failing to intercept that Carli Loyde goal. That had to hurt real bad. I think that was the 3-0 score.
Amazing goal by Carli that must be recorded in history. Much respect to the Japanese team. They really played hard to win... but couldn't recover from that 3-0 deficit. They played their guts out that's for sure.

FIFA is a unique organisation that doesn't hold any quota Rryan interest or vested interest.
To all of the people who claim women’s football sucks: women’s football came OVER 50 YEARS after men’s football, and still in some countries women cannot play. This means that there is less experience and less competition in women’s football, which is definitely not the fault of women. Also, women do not get paid nearly as much as men do in football. In fact, most of the women on the USA national team have to work other part time jobs just to make a living. This means that many talented girls may decide to leave the sport after high school/college because they believe they won’t get paid enough, which leads to a drought in player options. Also, from a young age, boys always get better coaches. This is because people care more for boy’s football. If we want to change this and change women’s football, we need to have better coaching for girls from a younger age, not just when they get to the national team. Make this happen, then we can talk about if women’s football sucks.

The keeper was in perfect position. She just wasn't ready to see a shot from midfield. Carly Lloyd actually looked up and knew she had time to shoot and got it over.
