Good idea Michael. Even with additional heat, there is no way of knowing how low the temperatures will get this winter and keeping your tropical plants alive requires additional layers of insulation. Hope the double layered protection works for you.
Oh wow. A greenhouse within a greenhouse, I love it. I bet that took a lot of work to remove all the plants first, then constructing the internal greenhouse inside. It'll be well worth the effort. Usually I leave my plants outside all winter, but after losing some, and others completely defoliating or suffering die-back, I've decided to bring many inside for the coldest months. This will ensure that I have the best start for next season.
Most of the work was done last year Dominic when I first erected the polypropylene greenhouse inside the Polycarbonate greenhouse. Taking off and putting the covering on and taking it off was not too difficult. I am not taking any chances with the UK weather I have lost too much over the years and it takes ages to recover.
Wow a double insulated greenhouse Mike, thats getting really serious now. I'd have thought with that tubular heat and double insulation that almost anything could survive in there overwinter 👍
Great idea, Mike! I hope it works out well for you again! What temperature controller are you using? I was looking at getting one for my greenhouse as I found the built-in temperature controller on the heater to be a little unreliable.
Peter, I am using a Temperature Controller from Amazon: Furado Digital Temperature Controller, LCD Screen Heating Cooling Temperature Switch, Thermostat Outlet Socket with 1.7m Sensor, 230V Digital Thermostat for Greenhouse Farm Terrarium Reptile. In addition you will need a waterproof junction box to house the electronics and contacts.
Please don't forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe for more about the exotics I am growing. Until next time, happy gardening.
Very good idea. Great video

Thank you Louise. All went well last year, but then again it was a mild winter.

Yes Brett, I used the same set up last year. The aim is really just to keep the plants from freezing with minimum electricity burn over the winter..
Mike your plants are going to be nice and cosy over the winter that’s for sure 🙌🏾
Thanks Joe, I will have to start getting them in soon. Its feeling chill in the evenings.
