  • Learn all about coyotes on the urban landscape! Why are they here? What are they doing? How can you peacefully coexist when you have dogs, cats or livestock?
Big thanks to Los Angeles Animal Services for creating this video with us!! #coyote #losangeles #humanehazing #wildlife #terangaranch #coexist #petsafety

Best video I've found on repelling coyotes. Appreciate all of these tips!
I've got a coyote or two that have been making unwelcome and unannounced visits at night in my yard. Coyotes show up when you least expect them, which makes my evenings out on the deck even more on edge. Got tired of their surprises. Even the 'hazing' I would do at the top of my lungs, they just seemed to turn, roll their eyes at me, shrug a 'meh', then slowly saunter off. The final straw was when one decided to leave scat right in the middle of my dg pathway along fence line. Might have been their way to say - 'I own this joint.' Or.. maybe it's to alert the rest of its pack - 'Stay away from here, this guy likes to sing at the top of his lungs. And it's not pretty.' I can't decide which. 🤔
19:52 - The sprinkler one in particular inspired me to get a 'Stream Machine QF-2000' which shoots up to 70 feet of refreshing water. Now the surprise will be on them whenever they visit next - I'll be ready. Look forward to posting my results here. ☺
I wanted to add one more deterrent - Foxlights. I've read good successes with those, and I like the fact the lights are random, also quiet.

First off, your are an amazingly good speaker/educator. Secondly, I love your hair and most importantly a. I’m having trouble locating that tiny airborne you blow into ( I want to get one for my mom and for me) and b. Do you have a link to any/all the products you have shown us, so when I purchase some money goes to your organization? I live in Alpine, CA not to far from you, and yesterday for the first time ever, a coyote ( Really tall, big and large black and brown) came over my low fence, without a sound, literally walked right up to me and was checking to see if he could come in my front door. We have plenty of food out here for them, he wasn’t aggressive, just curious…however, that won’t be the case the next time….and since they are now coming into my very personal space, I would like to see them on the other side of my fence from now on…the travel from the creek up the mountain on the backside of my house…which is awesome to watch. I love the penny can, my mom taught me that forever ago and didn’t even think about that! I do have some of the red eye solar lights but not in the front…I like a few of the other suggestions. Anyway, thank you again. X

You have a great presentation. We live by the mountains and the coyotes used to come only at night. Now they are resting in my front yard even during the morning and afternoon. I like all you gadgets, but I would like to know if using cayenne pepper or cloves or wolf urine spray does deter the chayotes from resting in my front yard? The cayenne paper and / or cloves will not hurt the grass also.

Hi there! Thank you for the kind words. Yes, cloves and cayenne can help. If you would like to message me I can give you more specific information for your situation. info@terangaranch.org. There are a wide variety of humane deterrents available.

Can I use the Critter Gitter to scare away rats? I’ve seen them scurrying along our fence, either on the top rails or along the ground by the fence. Thank you for the work you’re doing

You could, but it might be a bit much for rodents. Light, noise and/or scent is the answer for you. Email me for details. We’ll come to your backyard for free. Info@terangaranch.org

Neighbors leave out food for thier cats to roam, multiply, spray, defecate, destroy property, kill birds. We have cat deterrents but the coyote does best. ty

Sadly, Monterey county is so backward there are no urban coyotes anywhere, even rare in las padres forest. If theres a sighting, its all high- tension drama in the news & panic.
