    Gorgeous!! I had forgotten just how much I love this beautiful piece of music! That old organ produces such an amazing sound & the views of the church are wonderful. I'm glad I paid this video another visit today, it was well worth it. If I haven't done so already, I shall add it to my playlist.

    It’s watching this that reminds me that beautiful instruments like this exist and stand up through time and sound just as wonderful as now as they did when they were first made. I’m glad I discovered this channel, you do such an amazing job at bringing this instrument to life.

    Beautiful tone on this organ. The levers used for the stop action make me wonder if the organ builder was related to a sliversmith or blacksmith.

    What a lovely sound, Jonathan. Soft, silky, sweet and beautiful revern. Were you aware that the upper part of that ceiling is similar to that of Serlo Hall in Methuen Massachusetts - a building built by Edward F Searles specifically to house the old Boston Music Hall organ. This organ has nothing over 4' - yet you produce a lovely sound from it. 16' Unda Maris - Does it really go down to Bass CCC. Wonderful piece on a most unusual organ. Thank you, as always, Jonathan.

      @@chronochromie772 Mixtures are not a part of a chorus. They are supplimentry intended to brighten the bass and re-enforce the trebles of a division. They can not be used as solo stops. Don't go stretching things to make a stoplist what it is not. Read the stoplist. The highest pitched flue stop that can be used as a solo line is a 4' pitch. End of discussion. The highest pitched reed is likewise a 4' which is standard and is intended to brighten the bigger reeds. BUT it CAN be used as a solo stop. Read what I sad - it is pretty much in plain English

    • @at0mcollision
      @at0mcollision 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@organbuilder272 Some mixtures are intended for that purpose, like when Aristide Cavaillé-Coll built a Carillon I-III mixture usually in the Positif, in order to balance the bass and the treble. However, most mixtures are chorus mixtures, such as a Fourniture or a Plein-Jeu, as they reinforce the principal chorus. I'm not sure why you brought up mixtures not being solo stops- everyone who knows about organ stoplists knows that. Also, your original comment states that "this organ has nothing over 4'", which could have easily been a simple misunderstanding of the stoplist, as there is indeed a Flageolet 2' in the Récit. You then proceeded to talk about choruses and solo stops instead of admitting that your original statement had been slighly misinformed. Discord Baroque Society was very polite in replying to your comments, making sure not to be rude, but you then accused them of misinformation from not reading the stoplist properly, however they clearly had read the stoplist. It can also come across as patronising when you accuse someone of not reading what you had said when they clearly had, even if that had not been your intention. However, I agree with the main point of the original comment, which was that the sounds Jonathan produced being lovely- they are wonderful as always.

    Who needs a huge instrument going full organ the whole time, the boring improvisations on here just a theme getting louder and louder. This is a pleasant change from all the usual noise. Just goes to show you can make wonderful music softly, I hope you do more.
    It would also be nice if you responded to comments every now-and-again.

      bengunn99 So only ‘avid’ followers get replies? Or appreciate them? Or did you mean ‘to’, not ‘for’?, in which case you’re making some assumptions about everyone else’s level of interest. How is JS supposed to discern the level of interest of those who ‘like’ yet don’t comment? I could go on pointing out just how dumb is this need of yours, but... Just enjoy the FREE content & stop your whining, please
