I just wanted to say thank you. As a previous atheist turned agnostic, turned just hopeless and sad I started to go to church and found a wonderful and powerful group of people. People who when I was atheist I am ashamed to admit I mocked and I am feeling a lot of guilt for that. I love science and I have prayed for God to lead me to messages that will help me still love science and accept him and here I find you and John Lennox and so many others along with compassion and kindness. I am so thankful for you, your channel and the people you talk to. Thank you, because I do need that hope that you keep talking about and I do need to believe in the word of God and to understand the world around me. I have been listening to several videos and just crying when you talk about the idea that we need God and how we are just broken. I have been broken for so long and many times wanted to end it and for the first time in 35 years I actually feel hope. Little prayers are being answered as I ask for guidance to understand, I am being shown how to better understand and it is such a relief. Thank you for sharing what you do to others.

I don't make videos myself but I collected a few videos some years back and made some playlists on my channel. Some on science (2nd row down), others on Christian testimonies, etc. If you want to check 'em out. Just a little sample of the multitude of others you can find on TH-cam, of course.

@@macdaddyp8437 When you accuse him of hating God, we look at his comment and see _absolutely nothing_ in reality indicating jjevans even _believes a god exists!_
By contrast, when I accuse you of not valuing truth, the very fact that you're flinging non-evidenced accusations (ie you _believe things that aren't apparently real_ ), that's actual evidence of you not valuing truth.
Well public conversations where theists act like truth doesn't matter to them are great. Future readers see that and realize they shouldn't be on the same side as the fanatics who just blindly believe an idea for no reason. If that's how you want to behave, I'm sad for you but at least your public actions are ensuring less believers exist in the future (so thank you for that at least).
One reason jjevans might've called them brainwashers is *no evidence at all* was provided of a transcendent purpose. So you have Lennox who says such a purpose exists, but he has no reason to believe that, which makes Lennox's position seem to be just brainwashing people.

@@torii7797 Tour lied about "peptides not being able form in water" A blunt lie.
He claimed, "Selection doesn't happen on the molecular level!" Yet 20 years of research begs the differ….
When Tour got asked: "Do you agree that this research shows replicators that evolve by natural selection, because it does?!" and Tour straight out publicly lies, whilst confronted with the research...That happened.
What about the time Tour lied about Lee Cronin's quote? Cronin made a not serious comment "OOL research is a scam" in an article. Reading the article clearly showed the comment wasn't serious. A week later Cronin clarified further in an interview the comment was a humorous "tongue-in-cheek" one. Tour read the original article, saw the interview but still pushed the lie as if Cronin actually thinks OOL research is a scam. Classic lying by Tour. There is really no way for you or Tour to justify such wilful dishonesty. But you found one, didn’t you?
When he whines in length about how "we are nowhere close to understanding "because every year we find out the cell is more complex than it was the year before" as if modern cells have anything to do with the topic. What exactly in going on in your head at this moment?
What exactly are you thinking when Jimmy Tour insists that in order to substantiate abiogenesis as a viable process, we need to build a living cell from scratch using exclusively prebiotic chemistry. He likes to show slides with eukaryotic cell in his sermons at this point, something which didn't evolve until at least 2 billion years after live existed on Earth. Are you thinking at all in those moments or what is going on? I'm genuinely asking!
When he lied about "not being able to vet" the age of the earth...even though , before he has given himself to the Discovery Institute, he has described that the questioning of radiometric dating as "unscientific" and "unfair". In the same Article btw in which he publicly announced his lack of scientific integrity when it comes to faith.
What about when he lied about "red blood cells" found in dinosaur fossils and how the scientific community "wants to keep that a secret" because of its alleged implications? It is a blunt lie again. All those findings are published and up for scrutiny by specialists, as it is custom in a scientific enquiry. These palaeontologists have identified a chemical pathway - well known in food science but not seen before in palaeontology - that may be the key to long-term preservation of soft-tissue structures. He makes it sound as if there was still a juicy steak on the bones. When in reality it was in fact soft tissue structures and some collagen fibres. This is enough for Tour to act, in a clear attempt to misguide his audience, as if this is enough to overturn all dating methods at our disposal. Which is nonsense and not how science works, which he knows. He continues saying that he “hasn’t seen a good explanation for this” Well, that is what happens when you don’t look for one.
Are those enough lies or shall I go on. There is plenty more?!!
      - Why has Tour shown to be incapable of understanding how to read a Ribose-Borate spectrum?
      - Why does Tour not know how soap works?
      - Why did Tour continue to insist college level textbooks portray the primordial soup model as a sludge which self assembles into creatures that slither from the prebiotic pool?
      - Why did Tour call Szostak a liar, misrepresented his nature article, pretend to have apologized, and subsequently call his work nonsense without substantiation?
      - Why did Tour lie about Donna Blackmond her paper on homochirality?
      - Why did Tour quotemine Cronin, misrepresented Cronin's use of the classic formose reaction, and utterly lied about his tweet?
      - Why does Tour pretend to be an open minded scientist when he actively dissuades from going into the field of OoL, calling it nonsense, despite getting everything wrong?
Could it be because of his ties to the Discovery Institute: The Christian creationist pseudoscience organization responsible for the wedge strategy? Tour has his own dedicated page there linking to his religious sermons and podcasts whining about abiogenesis and evolution. He signed their pseudoscientific dissent from Darwin. Even in the debate, he deceitfully redefined what constitutes a valid scientific hypothesis by smuggling in gapless proof and DI vocabulary: "Specified Information".
Tour thinks God made this universe and life itself, he believes every word in the bible to be true and he publicly said that his faith and belief trump over scientific evidence. If you think this is irrelevant to his demonstrable lies he spills out, over specific fields of science that contradicts his belief...than you are delusional. He is a lying apologetic with a degree practicing intellectual vandalism.

      Consider this.....
Non-Christian Historical people who wrote about the New Testament:
Just how many non-Christian sources are there that mention Jesus?
Including Josephus, there are ten known non-Christian writers who mention Jesus within 150 years of his life.
Some of these non-Christian sources-such as Celsus, Tacitus, and the Jewish Talmud-could be considered anti-Christian sources.
After all that has been found, everything except for 2 verses of the entire New Testament were written about by Non-Christian historical people. The story of Jesus isn't fake, it's confirmed that Jesus lived and the gospels are reliable testimony.
To deny such a thing requires proof.
Whether you want to believe that Jesus rose from the grave, an important thing to realize is that the apostles BELIEVED that Jesus rose from the dead. They were so sure of it that they were willing to be killed for their belief.
People don't die for things they know are false. People don't die for a lie.
And that's what gives the gospels so much credibility. No one will die for something that they know is a lie. And you can't deny that the apostles were willing to die. They were real people, and the New Testament is their witness testimony.

The Ian McGilchrist is touching on something more profound than I think even he knows. The fundamentals of our philosophy of causation involve actuality and potentiality that neatly synthesizes with position and superposition in physics/quantum physics.
The left hemisphere is concerned with facts and deconstructing reality to its parts having a hard time with the whole. This is what we should expect of a system that has developed to track facts/actuality/position.
The right hemisphere is concerned with patterns and valuation, looking for change and movement. This is what we should expect from a system meant to track patterns/potentiality/superposition.
If this is accurate then not only does it inform us how our brains systems developed to understand the world but it also informs us about the ontological structure of the world as a hylomorphic system needing both physical and metaphysical reality to understand causation and consciousness.

What the heeeeck you are way too smart for me but I think I understood like 20% of that. This is probably pseudoscientific gibberish but entertain a thought of mine if you would - is this related to how the matter that makes up our reality "collapses" into a single actuality/position (amidst a wave distribution of different potentials) when we observe it somehow? Like, Schrodinger's cat and the observer effect? I've never understood how or why something external to us would "choose" a position based solely on our perception of it.

(from Brandon) are examples of how Dr. Lennox and Brandon are arguing for their god because that belief gives them a sense of meaning. if they are fulfilled by such a belief, that's awesome! but even if god were real, nothing in this video provides proof or evidence of his existence; all we see here are believers who feel better when they believe, just as believers of Hinduism feel better due to their faith, and the believers of all religions and gods throughout time.

I guess I should also mention that there are many Christians taught that God works in their lives personally and just like hoping to get a job or hoping to get into a particular college, there comes a time that you realized it didn't work out. The same is true for Christians expecting certain results from God only to be disappointed. There is a point where some Christians will recognize that prayers work about as good as random chance. As a matter of fact, if Christian prayers were more successful than any other religion or non-religion, people would flock to it because it has demonstrated something is working over there.

There are countless stories of Dr's being baffled that a patient got better after the family prayed. To dismiss this is to say that the Dr's are lying and that their medical records were faked.
God isn't going to answer all of your prayers, because you have no idea what plans God has for you. If your prayer were answered, it might stand in the way of what God has planned for you.
You want prayers answered? Then give all of your mind, heart, soul, and life to Jesus. Give him everything. Have you done that? I doubt it based on what you've written here. (and being very young if you did doesn't violate this, because people who are too young don't have the accountability yet).

I find meaning in the moment-to-moment I spend on earth with whoever is interested in forming memorable relationships with me. And knowing that someday it all ends makes me feel more confident and genuine about who I am to me.

"Wouldn't it be amazing if there really was life after death?"
Sure. I enjoy being alive and I try to stay healthy and safe because of my attitude towards life. I think it would pretty nice if life continued after death, but I doubt that is possible.
"Wouldn't it be beautiful if we were designed by our creator for a purpose?"
No. That sounds awful. Why would I want to be like a puppet?
"Wouldn't it be pure wonder and joy if there really is hope available to every single hunan in spite of the dire human condition if God has made a way for us to be forgiven and to be able to be with him forever in perfect infinte joy?"
There's a lot in that question. First, what is the dire human condition? Is it that everyone dies? Second, the question doesn't make sense. If God has the capacity to have people live with him forever and God wants that, then why are we not with God currently? Lastly, it seems strange to want to be with a creature that dictates how much joy one can experience. That doesn't sound appealing. Again that sounds like God playing with puppets and I am the puppet.

I really appreciate you taking the time to write what you have here. There is a lot to unpack from what you have written. First, The idea of design is not the same thing as the idea of determinism. I completely relate to you on the idea of not wanting to be a puppet. We are not puppets. We are "in His image" which means that we have been given free will. This ties into your next thought about the human condition & also your thought about Joy... God is the source of Joy. He wants to offer us all of Himself, but we have used the gift of free will to rebel from God. That is PART of what I mean by the dire human condition. Things are not as they should be. Things are broken. Things fall apart. We see this every day on the news. That brokeness is what only God can fix. This gets down to the meaning of the incarnation and the cross. Christ died for all so that all might live. God is offering forgiveness and healing to all and "reconciling the world to himself". There is so much here, my friend! So much more I could say! Your questions are REALLY good and I promise you there are even better answers. Would you please read a book called MERE CHRISTIANITY by C.S. Lewis and let me know your thoughts (because he deals with a lot of what you have expressed here in a beautiful and in depth way) . Thanks again for taking the time! I will pray for your journey today! Peace!

Like a puppet? Really? Have you not broken any of the 10 Commandments?
I don't think you understand what "God created us for a purpose" means. Let me explain.... God's purpose in creating you is for you to discover and love God, so that your faith in him and in Jesus will show the glory of God to as many people as possible. But he's not going to force you into his presence. He allows you to reject him. He allows you to freely choose what you want to do. When they say "God is all loving".... that's what this means. It means that God actually loves you enough that he is willing for you to reject him if you so desire. It doesn't mean that God is going to intervene in this world. He only wants your heart, that's why he created you. Nowhere in the bible does it say that God celebrates people going to hell.
Imagine if you were God and you created people to love you, but they rejected you. Love cannot be coerced. It has to be freely given. And if you really loved them, then you would let them chose their outcome. Would you love someone enough to allow them to go to hell because that's where they wanted to go? I think you probably would try to stop them from going to hell. Which means that you would be inserting your will over them - which is stalking. Stalking isn't love.
Does "God loves all people" make a little more sense now?

In the beginning God created us to be perfect, but satan (the devil also known as the fallen angel Lucifer) deceived Eve into believing that by eating of the tree of good and evil in the midst of the garden of Eden she and Adam would become like gods. So she ate off the tree and gave it to Adam to eat also and he did. God had promised that if they ate of the tree they would surly die. In order to deceive Eve, Satan said they would not die. After they ate they new they were naked and sewed leaves together to hide their nakedness. They hide in the garden as God called out Adam, Adam were art thou? Because of their disobedience God made them leave the garden. Life became hard and they no longer were perfect so God promised the savior Jesus. You don't seem to understand what the love of God means.
In order to ensure that our choice is truly free, God puts us in an environment that is filled with evidence of his existence, but without his direct presence- a presence so powerful that it could overwhelm our freedom and thus negate our ability to reject him.
In other words, God has provided enough evidence in this life to convince anyone willing to believe, yet he has also left some ambiguity so as not to compel the unwilling.
In this way, God gives us the opportunity either to love him or to reject him without violating our freedom. In fact, the purpose of this life is to make that choice freely and without coercion.
For love, by definition, must be freely given. It cannot be coerced. God isn't going to stalk you, because stalking isn't love.
