I think any sane person would become unhinged if they were tortured, bodily altered, and forced to fight in an eternal devil/demon war for 10 years against their will.
The fact Karlach is so happy go lucky and positive proves she embraced toxic positivity because it was one of the few things that made her hold on to hope.
