Nice work Blue Robotics! Always up to something great over there!

Blue robotics was my first choice for underwater drones but out of my budget. After building my own ROV that was cumbersome I looked at new technologies. Regrettably, I purchased the Powervision powerray as they had all the bells and whistles in one package. Should have stuck with my original choice!

Dose it have an ARS (altitude reference system)?

Had 360 degree sonar transducer ?

Out of curiosity what is the part that costs so much? R+D, the transducer, or the control electronics?

Hi Ian, it's a bit of everything. The analog electronics to filter the signal are pretty high-end and expensive. There are a lot of other parts that add up like the motor, transducer, microcontroller, and case. The process to build it is fairly involved, especially with the oil-filling of the transducer head. And last, there's a lot of R&D time and effort that went into this. We've been working on it for more than two years to finally get to a finished product! I hope that answers your question! -Rusty

Excellent work, looks promising. I would like to know what is the "frame rate" at both 360 and 120 degrees? or which are the options? I could not find that info on the specs.

Hi Gerardo, a few people have asked this so we'll have it on the documentation soon. A full 360 degree circle takes about 8 seconds at short range and we are working on software updates that will get that to 4-5 seconds.

    Great job!
Is there a mode where it is possible to scan only in a specific direction and for a specific aperture? For instance +/-45° in the forward direction, in order to have a better refreshment rate in front of the ROV? In addition to the better refreshment rate, it could also improve the "image" quality, for there will be more signal in that case.

Hi Timothe, yes! There is a "sector" scan mode where you scan less than 360 degrees. There's an example of this in the video at 2:00 showing just a 120 degree sector looking forward. The view in the Ping Viewer changes to show that sector as large as possible for the best image.

    Hello,
I need sample python code for ping360 to learn how to use it. i actually need python code to return distance information according to my angle.
    thank you

can it workin dryland to locate burried objects?

Hi Camille, this sonar will only work underwater, unfortunately! There are other technologies to see through the earth such as ground penetrating radar.
