  • Jeremy Guscott was a magician in the English midfield in the 1990's. His partnership with Will Carling is legendary and he scored many tries by cutting opposition defenses to pieces. He was a creative player who could create space for players outside of him, but also had the ability to cut the line himself.
He will be remembered as an all time legend of English rugby.
    Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Fine player, the guy who called him a Rolls Royce centre is spot on. These clips bring back many happy memories, especially the ‘97 drop goal for the Lions against SA, which I watched in a Jo’burg bar.

It's easy to forget just how good JG was in his day. Class player who din't shrink on the big occassions.

Stumbling drop goal off his left foot! Unbelievable! But what a combo with Will Carling, who created the space for Guscott's pace.

I remember Frank Bunce saying that when he was a player, Guscott was the only opposite number he ever feared.

Finley Calder. The captain of the winning British Lions team of 1989. Said this guy was a nighmare to play against but a joy to have on your side.

A Rolls Royce of a centre, in my opinion he was one of the most naturally talented players to have played the game, some players see the game in slow motion and he was one of those and on top of that he had real acceleration, England haven't produced anyone like him since he retired, to be fair I'm not sure any other countries have either, different but not like him. I watched him play many games for Bath and he always backed himself he never seemed to fear making a mistake if he thought it was on he would take the attacking option regardless of field position and that takes great mental courage, physical courage is a given but Mental courage is something rarer.

Guscott with Carling, Wilkinson, Andrew, the Underwood brothers and the rest were the England team that got me into rugby, the real beautiful game. Thanks guys….

As an Irish rugby supported, he broke alot of hearts, but as a rugby supporter, he defined a generation of great rugby (with Rob Andrew) that is up there with the greats. I never tire of watching great skill; I do not enjoy watching thugery and crash test dummys. He will be remembered as one of the great centres (with Sonny Bill Williams, O'Driscoll, Sella, Horan, Carling...)

A very balanced and smooth runner, could come off either foot, genuine pace and an ability to see space. Saw him play for Bath when they were the guest side at the Middlesex 7s many years ago and we were all thinking that he was a flashy, lazy, player who fancied himself, didn't seem to add much, as if he was coasting through trying not to get hurt and then - BANG - the after-burners would go on and he was through a gap and scored, or made a try for somebody else. I'm not sure anyone laid a finger on him all afternoon. Very classy.

There was a certain style to Jeremy Guscott's game. One minute you wonder where he is and the next second he's over the line and you wonder where he came from. One of the greats.

My mate was driving us to Rawtenstall, Northwest of England, when we passed some charity runners and at the front was Jeremy Guscott, so I leaned out of the window and shouted "keep them knees up Jezza" he looked at me and told me to f**k off, bit of a p***k is old Jezza.
