Fyi for DIY-ers if you have uconnect mirror with mic built in you will lose it's functionality as it's not compatible with aftermarket stereos. So I took it a step further and disassemble my unconnect review mirror and placed aftermarket mic inside works great. Also if you are good with your hands instead of using hack saw blade to cut metal bracket I used a grinder with a cut off wheel being very careful not to touch the plastic parts. I upgraded to pioneer dmh-1500nex with maestro rr and ch3 harness. Thanks jd your video helped alot as many hours of reading forums were just confusing and frustrating.

I would love to do this for my 2021 Ram 1500 (new-body). The only options to upgrade from the 5 inch unit, to something decent are the Infotainment assemblies. The cost is ridiculous though. This video gives me a spark of hope that a conventional head unit can be installed!

Dude!! Why in the hell after a whole year searching TH-cam I come across your video?! 🤯 i had the exact same problem with my OEM stereo and searched up and down the internet for a whole year trying to figure out why it just gave out before I decided to go the aftermarket route. I literally went and picked up all the aftermarket parts today to install my stereo hope it goes well.
