Hi Ben, it's good that you teach how to disassemble and repair that ratchet. I also use my magnifying glass in the workshop, for small details. Greetings !

Magnifying glasses are often useful. I don't like things that don't work so I have to fix them.
      Many thanks for watching!

It's nice that you can get inside this tool to fix it if necessary, not riveted shut. Cheers Ben.

It is, though I don't like the way the pivot is fixed. I had a look at another one in Lidl today (the extendable ratchet) and it is fixed with an Alan headed fixing which is better.

Nice bit of surgery Ben.I have a couple of broken cheapo Taiwanese ratchets I might try this on.I can now try to re-instate them with the help of this Vid.Thanks for your time.

Depends on what the exact internal layout is, I have not yet taken apart the sort with the switch in the rotating bit. I will soon publish one with the sliding button. However if it doesn't work, you might as well have ago. I would suggest filming it so you can see how it goes back together.

Like that one or the sort with the sliding button? (A video of that will be along week after next).
I would suggest filming taking it apart to aid putting it back together.

It's kind of a shame when you get a tool with a defect like that, but on the whole the Parkside stuff is pretty good, certainly for the price. I've had some awful ratchets in cheap sets in the past, and a few great ones that I've got second hand. I seem to recall my brother making a new reversing thingamybob for one of his ratchets a long long time ago.

This one was only a little bad, would send it back but.... it was too good to end back so I fixed it. I have another one from a £79.99 Halfords set that totally locked up... Coming the week after next.
      Many thanks for watching.

@@BensWorkshop I have an old Halfords set that I bought in the 80s - it came with a lifetime guarantee - I wonder what they'd say if I walked into one of their branches and tried to claim on that guarantee!!!!! I must remember to keep an eye on the stuff in Lidl in case there's something I want/need.

    • @BensWorkshop

@@GrumpyTim I have one of those, and if I could find it I wouldn't have bought another Halfords set! Though it too came with a lifetime guarantee. I just fixed it for the video.

    Nice one Ben,
Yes me too utilizers a magnifying glass regularly,
I may have to take another look at your Motor Video,, my shaper motor stuck the other day and just hummed, i gave it a nudge and it started, so looks like it's needing attention!!
    take care

      I certainly do!
What make and model is the motor? First port of call is going to get the starter cap, followed by the centrifugal switch. By all means ask questions, as you have seen I have fixed them before.
      Many thanks for watching.
