I moved to Cuenca 5 years ago and have never had a better life than right here!!! The city is absolutely magnificent and there is absolutely nothing I miss about USA ..except shoes my size lol.. I am here for life and never leaving this magical place
Boomers messed up USA and now they live in places like Cuenca where they cannot feel guilty about their grandchildren’s limited opportunities compared to theirs back in the US.

If you arrive in the middle of the night at the bus station in Cuenca and you have no change for a taxi, you can go to the JEP ATM at the bus station add extract a sum that ends in a $5. That way you will get a $5 bill. In the daytime, you can easily go into any Bank and exchange a $20 bill for 20 $1 coins.

Hi I have been doing my research and I'm planning to be one expat more and leave the US I have other friends there from Canada and the states who are living currently On the magic city.
When you come back to Ecuador, you need to go a little further south in the Sierra and check out Vilcabamba. Approx. 5000 feet (like Denver) year-round day/night temp averages 70 degrees. Seldom gets above 85 or below 60. Tiny village, but lots of expats. Great food, lots to do...
Bad never heard of this Village until now, thank you so much! Definitely will write this in my notebook to visit when I come back! Thank you for watching! Saludos! 🍻
We are from the Galveston, Texas area, and we found the temperatures to be wonderful, not cold. Wonderful music. Fantastic and inexpressive restaurants. You walked right past Resaurante Don Colón on your way to Terra. Don Colón is so delicious and inexpensive.
I love Galveston!!! When I lived in Houston, I would visit Galveston at least once a month! It's funny, someone else told me that I should have stopped at that restaurant as well. I will definitely give it a try the next time I'm there. Thank you for watching Bob! Cheers! 🍻

Cold? that's relative. I moved here from NW Montana near Glacier Park (35+ year Whitefish, MT resident.) I wear shorts and sandals every day here. it's 70 degree days and 50 degree nights on ave. then again, i wear shorts until it snows.

$35 for 2 beers and salmon, there are many places in Cuenca where you could feed 4 people for that. If you want a western restaurant you will pay western prices, but you could have the same food in Florida, New York or anywhere , try the mom and pop places and get the $2.50-$4.00 lunch or $5.00-$7.00 dinner that you won't find in the states.
