My main three gripes with the L is that it doesn’t come with a seat, no pre installed Velcro and the pedals definitely need an upgrade. For the price these should come as standard. Thanks for the L videos Marty it has helped a ton.
A simple and effective seat is the common or garden US mail box, to which is very easy to add a couple bits of timber under the base to accommodate a piece or pieces of wood to attach the brackets Marty used when making his seat (see his video); the mailbox can be adapted with a little foam on top as a cushion, though it's shape and strength make it a great seat as it is. You can then carry eg charger, food and water, shelter, or whatever you want on the wheel and not on your back, the mailbox being very capacious for this purpose.
Might be a deliberate marketing choice. This gets third parties involved in developing accessoires. Those manufacturers will also put effort into marketing their stuff. So free extra marketing for leaperkim. It's also a nice extra source of income for the resellers / shops.

Marty, thank you so much for your reviews with this wheel. I'm excited to see what Leperkim is doing. Hoping the price of durable, stable, and safer wheels comes down in price in the near future. Would be VERY cool to see them do a smaller wheel. Fingers crossed 🤞
That's one of the things i love about EUC riding, i see lot's of wildlife. Saw bear too about month ago, much bigger. Thankfully he was just crossing the road. My sherman S headlight is good enough. Greetings from Estonia!
That bear though haha. I am glad I live where I can legally carry a side arm for this kind of reason. I also typically have music playing to keep from sneaking up on bears, cougars, etc. May be worth carrying bear spray from now on lol.

Great final thoughts, i agree with the pedals and the velcro for the charging port it looks similar to the Lynx for me i don't really mind the emplacement. Although there is another alternative for the pedals and this is the NyloNove which are way lighter than the ERide pedals because they are made of Polyamide 6 instead of CNC aluminum and are as durable, i do own the ERide pedals because they are more accessible in north America... My friend ordered the NyloNove and it took a month and half to get here in Canada so i think the company should put an effort in the American market they are also a bit more expensive than the ERide pedals. **Btw a little note from an electronic tech about fast charging, it can be helpful for long rides to bring a fast charger but it will degrade the battery faster and also give less range... So only use it when needed other than that it is better to stick between 5 to 8 amps.
Thanks for the comment. Regarding fast charging, kind of a myth in my opinion. I fast charge just about all my wheels all the time. I'm not planning on keeping my wheels 10-years. Remember, fast charging a 4000wh battery pack is not stressing out the individual cells. But I get it, some people care about babying the batteries. I'm not one of them though 🙂
Re: Pedels. Its really shame the stock ones don't have spikes.. since they so much lighter and lower profile than all the after market pedals. Today I spend a little time and figured out you can use the spikes from e-rides pedals (the early ones came with extra spikes!). You don't ever need to tap threads, you just drill 3mm holes where the current knobs are and then screw the spikes directly into the metal. Seems to work great! Doesn't solve the lack of dihedral which is second problem.. luckily the stick dihedreal isn't too bad.
That's the final Nail in the coffin for me Marty! If YOU are calling it the greatest wheel of all time, it would be sacrilegious to not get one! Placing the oder 💯 Thank you for this video as always!
Thank you. I'm 160 without gear, got my pre-order changed to 62 lb spring, but I get a lot of conflicting information from others that 66 lb should be the minimum consideration. Plan on using the wheel mostly for commuting on streets.
@RustySeatbelt you should be fine.. the progressive spring in the Lynx gives alot more cushion.. I just posted a video of me and a buddy at the skate park .. he has a 66lb and I have the 62lb ... no issues
I sh*t my pants when I encounter a wild boar in a night ride in Barcelona's Tibidabo hill: Luckily the animal freaked out and simply run away down the mountain
@@DonovanWert Yep. I’ve been working in the forest in Canada, and ridden the mountain trails all my life in all of north America. I carried a hand gun for decades, yet never had to use it. I’ve seen hundreds of bears. Black and brown bears are not dangerous when you know their logic and keep from doing stupid things. Grizzlies are dangerous in some very specific circumstances, predictable when you know them. Polar bears are ALWAYS dangerous, even when you have a hand gun or bear spray. In polar bear territory, you need a shotgun or large caliber rifle.
For your style of riding, which seems to be a combination of long range rides and everyday commuting, if you could only have one wheel would it be the Sherman L? My riding weight is about 260, and I don't have the budget or space in my apartment for multiple wheels. The longest ride I'd do is about 50 miles one way, where I could charge it. My everyday commute is about 30 miles a day, with a combination of road and bike trails. I'm from California but live in Alaska now and see quite a few bears each summer while on the bike paths, most bears won't chase after you and would rather be left alone.
@@ElectricUnicycles thanks for the quick reply! I'm coming from a V12HT and sorely wanting an upgrade in range and was debating between the Lynx and the Sherman S, and then the L came out having the features of both. I do ride around people on bike paths, but I think I'd do that less if I had more range to go to more remote places. You did exactly what someone in your position should do with a bear in the area, which is stay calm, get loud, and get out of the area.
I'm looking to ride 65% trail, 35% paved. You mentioned you wouldn't trade a trail wheel in for it. I don't have a trail wheel - so would this be a good ride for SoCal trails, or would you look for something more trail capable? I don't do any jumps.
You have to define what a trail means. If it's mild fireroad type trails then the L is great. But super technical single-track would probably get tiring quick.
@@jasras5003 I think for those conditions it will be fine. Yeah, when you have to do a lot of rapid twisting and turning on a big and heavier wheel, it can become unpleasant after awhile.
@@ElectricUnicycles I gotcha, thanks. Kind of a trade off with the bigger capacity battery I guess. If you know of any other wheels with the same capacity that are lighter, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks for commenting back!
I can't seem to recall the ranking position in the 2023 table of the A2, lolno! When the knobby tyre is pumped up a couple of psi more it becomes a little more rounded like a knobby, and less noisy like the swarm of bees, this has been my finding on my S, tried a PIlot Street 2 but found it to be way to squirrelly personally, but anyway this is a personal preference; might be worth inflating the tyre a little more first, which is of course a cheaper option to consider trying than a new tyre.
Try not to ride alone at night on mountain. Never mind bears, if something happens and you get injured, it can end up being a real f'ed up night. Also, bear can track a prey from an unbelievable distance. Just because you were on a road did not mean you were safe if it was hunting you. You can find youtube footage of a bear chasing down a caribou titled, "Grizzly Bear Kills Caribou RAW footage".
I think when weather turns colder. More wild bears usually from higher elevations might come down to lower elevations looking for food. Hopefully nobody is throwing old food wrappers next to those trails
