I hadn’t heard of your channel until it popped-up in a search for the NX 500. This was an excellent review, thanks for posting it. I have added you to my subscriptions.
Great video, thanks. It needs a bash plate and mudguard extension to protect the oil filter, engine cases and lower part of exhausts. The instrument panel and fairing are big improvements. That looks like miserable riding weather!
I have to agree with Lee,I’m also very interested in this little bike & have also been looking for UK reviews on you tube. I have to say Geordie biker your presentation was real world & excellent, I loved the New/Outgoing bike comparison as I hadn’t come across this before anywhere. I’ll be heading down to my local dealer now I think for a chat, also love your helmet - it reminds me of MCE bike insurance’s mascot ‘Big Edd’ sadly this company went bust recently. Many Thanks from Yorkshire.
Thanks for the positive feed back. I want my content to be different from the rest on here so always looking at thing’s slightly differently plus I work in a bike shop so customers tell me what they want to see. My helmet yes it’s taken from Big Edd I wanted a smile on my lid as for me motorcycling should be fun. It reminds me of my mates out our BMX’s as kids just got engines now.
Good review. As for the navigation, it does (or can) show turn by turn instructions on the screen as that's how I have it set up. I don't have a headset so I just view the arrow direction and it has the next turn instruction at the bottom of the screen.
Thank you for this informative review of this very nice bike. If I am not wrong, one difference between the CB500X and the NX500 is, that the latter has traction control, which the old one does not have.
some more differences are: NX 500 has dual discs up front (as opposed to a single one on the 500 X) NX 500 has USD forks (as opposed to traditional forks on the 500 X) So, the suspension is more pliant and the stopping power is better.
Nice review, thanks - appreciated the direct comparison to the 500x. I had the predecessor cb 500x but it didn't last long in my fleet - just found the engine, whilst peppey, enough lacked any real character (really really needs to be a 270 degree crank IMHO) and the front end looks just kinda disappointed me after a while. At least they have sorted to looks now which I much prefer, but the engine not being updated makes it a non repeat buy for me.
The NX500 is a few kilograms less, but when I sat on one, the bike felt way more top-heavy compared to the CB500X. (I wasn't able to test drive it though.) So I was wondering how much effect it will have on maneuverability compared to the CB500X. What's your experience?
Hi I work at a dealership and push bikes round all day just about. At the min our demos go out on the morning and in again at the end of the day. We have 2 CB500X’s as courtesy bikes which I push in and out. We also have the NX500 and so far I haven’t noticed the difference so I would say it should make no difference to manoeuvrability.
It’s still down about 15hp. Totally get the stepped licensing restrictions, but still, as is, it’s simply underpowered….for me. Fwiw, Im a 62 yr old dude, and ride a ‘06 Suzuki 650 Vstrom, an older (1989) lemans 1000, and a Suzuki DR650. Imho, Honda should bump up the displacement a bit and figure out how to restrict the power for newer riders. Of course, then they wouldn’t get an additional sale, so they’ll never do it. I’d love to own a 600-ish cc parallel twin that made low 60’s hp. 47 hp just doesn’t cut it for me.
Hi svendura1. Today we fitted some very knobbly looking tyres to a 500x. Anlas Caprax looks great and will do the off road job. I took a pic but can’t attach it here.
My farther in law had 500x and he always had the screen set on the high holes but when I borrowed it I would lower it. Funny that worked better for me no buffeting.
@@GeordiebiketesterI cut my windscreen down and had it on the lowest setting to avoid helmet buffeting. At least it was clean air but sort of defeated the purpose of having that style of bike.
@@Kevg777 sorry just noticed your question I answered it wrong the last time. Yes I do prefer it to a disc lock for one big reason. Everyone and I mean everyone has pulled away or pushed a bike with a disc lock on and done some damage.
@@Geordiebiketesteryour 100% correct. My mate did thousands of dollars damage and hurt himself when he got distracted talking to someone and forgot to remove the rear disc lock before taking off.
This app sucks. Arrow does not point real direction. When you try to use voice command to find destination - app report error. Way better to use google maps directly.
@@Geordiebiketester One question for the clutch, i perfectly know the pull is very light, but does the clutch slip under engine brake? Like over a steep hill in low gears, unfortunately i cant get a test ride and this is a very important element for me since i live in the mountains and many roads i travel with the notorcycle are steep both up and down, so clutch slip under engine braking would be awfull for me
I don’t mind all the info but you can reduce info by picking the basic screen set up. The big improvement is you can see it in bright sun light unlike the LCD previous set up.
Why does it look unattractive than its competitors in the same segment, good performing bike no doubt. not so good looking, like you have second thoughts after looking at it, why, Its as same with all Honda, good performing handling and easy to ride and maintain but not so good looking or its like it does not have a character
@@themotorider1 On the last years version, in a dark bad weather condition, you wonder why they just put a candle behind the glass instead of adding a frontlight. But i like it overall.

Nice bike and the best thing about it is that it's a Honda so no worries about it breaking down.
Thank you for the review! Waiting for the bike to be officially presented in New Zealand.
Melhor vídeo sobre NX500 que tem no TH-cam 👏👏👏👏

Yes your the second person to say this so I’m going to refresh the app and see what it does.
I believe the automatic Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) is a feature of the CB500X as well - at least my 2019 one has it :)
True just a hard thing to demo on the road.

Thanks for the review - very useful!
Question - how good is it for highway touring? Can it cruise smoothly between 110-130kmph without vibrations?
It is a sweet motor so on UK roads it’s happy at 70 mph you could ride at that speed all day. Motor smooth for a twin.
Looking forward to this coming to the US

I like that bike a lot. Thanks for your good work.
Are there any knoby tires or mild adventure tires for this bike available?
Mild adventure yes full on knobbly no.

Nice little bike but id go for a transalp hands down
More power, torque, speed and better for 2 up cruising/touring
And that’s why we have so many bikes to choose from.
I think ther is an update for the roadsync to get turn by turn on the dash
That’s great news will try and update for my next ride review.
Have Honda fixed the nasty wind buffeting from the old CB500x windscreen?

What exactly does the honda app do? I can already get turn-by-turn with a phone in my pocket and a bluetooth headset. Is the display just bugged?
The app is used to toggle between things on your phone music to maps to texts and be able to see you have texts or calls.
What cam do you use for record?
I use a couple for the clever shots it’s a Insta 360 they are mega. Then a GoPro and my phone.
It's just the cb500x with a new name, why🤪 I've got the cb500x & I won't be swapping it any time soon😉
How did you find the wind noise/ protection?? The cb500x used to suffer
It’s wasn’t bad it’s a lot wider at the front so works better.
Thinking of buying one as second bike along with R3…will I enjoy power and torque of Nx500 coming from R3?
power not really, torque definitely yes
mid range pull of this engine is much stronger than r3 engine, an engine you need to rev the shit out of it
@@Tonyx.yt. precisely
Yeah think the lazy motor and the torque it produces will be a welcome change from the thrash of the Yam.
I am BMW drive. I drive septemper Honda NX Rodos 2 Day. Good bike I like. Easy drive.
What is the price point for the new n x and are they going to make a 750 n x
The new NX IS £6799 and we have a 750 it’s called the Transalp.
Hi I have one small q. Can you switch off abs? Or only traction control could be switch off?
traction controll can be turn off, abs i dont think
Thank you . Best regards
Traction can be turned off ABS is always on.
What’s the lock you’re using mate?
It’s Kovix alarm lock. It clamps on your throttle and grips the front brake on too.

Yes, I'd have to agree with you there. It's very disappointing to me that Honda took a step back in that department. What are they thinking?
Is it worth to buy this Bike for long term ! Is this bike reliable?
a low stressed parallel twin engine on a honda motorcycle? of course is reliable...
engine is over 10 yrs so yeah
Yeah this is a well proven lump and it used to produce more power now it’s only 47.5 bhp so it’s a relaxed motor. One of the reasons you get mega MPG.

any vibration at rpm or speed ?
