Yooo, let’s goooo. The templin institute is an amazing channel for more lore stuff. Think of them as the bridge between Bricky and Luetin. There tyrannids, emperor, Cadia, and Dante vids are my favorites so far.
@@ti8ick They absolutely should too... They're lunatics. BTW, TTS has a special (set sometime after ep 21) called what if the Emperor had a podcast. Sigismund was such a gangster that when Abaddon killed him he sent his body back to the Phalanx (the fortress monastery of the Imperial fists) to be buried with honors even after Sigismund cursed him as he was dying. The Horus Heresy characters were just built different.
@@ti8ick A really cool thing to know, it that Sigismund and Ezekyle Abaddon were both legendary 1st Captains of their Legions. One of the things I love about Black Templars and why I collect them is how they are not portrayed as the most competent or really the most powerful of the marine chapters, just the one who will bury you in ungodly amounts of screaming superhuman muscle to prove a point.
Oh, yes. I played a couple of small 500pt games as a Black Templar. Back then they had a rule: when they fail the morale test they "fall back" TOWARDS THE ENEMY and engage in melee if possible! It was so cool...
Yes I loved it when playing against someone who didn’t understand why I smiled when my units failed morale checks… ( other player: hey you failed a morale check, that means their running right?… me: ha ha, yeah they’re running right… he he he, running…) if you know what this means, AAC, then you know why my smile got bigger.
The Codex Astartes states that the rule on chapter numbers can be waived if said chapter is on a crusade, so the Black Templars declared that they are on an eternal crusade to continue the Emperor's Great Crusade to get around the no legion building rule. The exact number of their chapter is unknown and often shrouded in secrecy, but it's estimated to have somewhere around 6,000 active astartes with who knows how many in reserve.

2:46 Absolutely, this is why every hates f**king Erebus so much! 😢 Ironically, the Black Templars are almost identical to the original Word Bearers' legion that started the whole Horus Heresy, and what the Emperor and Rogal Dorn hated to the bone 😂
The difference is the Chaos Gods are chosen (and choose you) based on your inclinations. It is your own deification you follow. The followers of the Emperor change to follow the Emperor's will and goals. The Chaos Gods bribe you, tempt you, and then enslave you. Instead, when the people become the Emperor's true servants, they get their reward after completely submitting everything to him. The reward usually sucks but given the Eternal Sacrifice of the Emperor for Mankind, what do you expect following his example?
Yeah, the Black Templars are pretty intense. Comparing them to the battle sisters, and your thoughts at the end seemed pretty accurate to me! What you said about TTS might be truer than you know... Even in lore, Rogal Dorn might've (figuratively) facepalmed about Sigismund's zeal for the Emperor during the Horus Heresy. I wouldn't say that Dorn wanted Sigismund dead, but as the first Emperor's Champion, he basically went out solo to some degree, with the duty of slaying any Chaos champions he came across. It was probably a great honour, could've been a suicide mission for many other marines, but it at least kept Sigismund busy lol I say he was the first Emperor's Champion, because after they became the Black Templars in the Second Founding, *pretty much* each crusade fleet had a Champion. That's to say - if I recall the lore well enough - the Black Templars have ten Black Swords, one per crusade fleet, though as the video said, fleet numbers vary. The Templars pray before battle and if a battle brother has visions of big E, the chaplains verify this and dub him the Emperor's Champion for that crusade, and for so long as he lives, generally. These champions give their range of minis something to make up for the lack of librarians. Another Second Founding chapter directly formed from the Imperial Fists legion are the Crimson Fists. They've been in the lore for ages, and you'll easily find a few well known illustrations of them making heroic last stands. So yes, they are far fewer in number than the Black Templars, and indeed both chapters' marines are smart, it's just that Crimson Fists value reason instead of zeal, despite the last stands. Their motto is "No Matter the Odds!" and they're also fairly kind, even in adversity, especially their chapter master. There's a tender lore moment about that... all in good time though 😊 Great job doing this research before Helsreach too! The only other thing you might want to be familiar with are other special marine roles. Specifically Chaplains, in black, with skull masks and other regalia of office, and their head, the Reclusiarch; Techmarines (often but not always in the red of Mars, due to their Mechanicus training) and their head, the Master of the Forge. Then we have apothecaries in somewhat white armour under a chief apothecary. That's plenty to understand the Black Templars for a start, but *most* other chapters have four ranks of librarians under the chief librarian, with mostly deep blue armour (Space Wolves and White Scars are obvious exceptions here).
Thank you for your comment, I guessk I could look up some info on the roles you mentioned to have an idea before I watch Helsreach. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Hey, you're welcome, and thank you for the reply and all you do! Hopefully I'm not mansplaining, 😅 I think you learn lots even beyond what makes it into the videos, so you might've already known those marine roles. Anyway, glad to help, and I hope your day's kind and wonderful to you too!
The black templars are really awesome, one of my favorite chapters. There is a reason why the Black templars are among the most popular space marine chapters of the warhammer fanbase.
Black templar numbers are always vague, which is partly a writing choice as it gives players more freedom in their collecting, but they're estimated to have anywhere from 3000 to something like 30000 marines. As a footnote, the limit is 1000 battle brothers, or full marines, so scouts, neophytes, and mobile fleets are often not counted towards this limit. The numbers therefore are likely higher than stated. For context, the next largest chapter is the Space Wolves, who are the most divergent of the original legions, and field 2500-3000 marines across 12 independent double strength companies
The Codex Astartes states that the rule on chapter numbers can be waived if that chapter is on a crusade, so the Black Templars manipulated this loophole by declaring that they are on an eternal crusade, thus allowing them to ignore the rule about legion building.
A fact that wasn't mentioned about the chains: this is actually originally a tradition of the World Eaters Legion, who turned traitor and became corrupted and enslaved by the Chaos God Khorn. The reason why the Black Templars also practice this, is because Sigismund was friends with Kharn, the First Captain of the World Eaters before they turned traitor. Kharn shared this practice with Sigismund, and the latter happily adopted it, and from his example the Black Templars as a whole began the practice in their Chapter.
Not really. It will probably make you a heretic, just like him, and rather confused because most of what he's saying is his own heretical opinions. There are other loremasters who explain the lore from a much less biased point of view.
Black Templars have essentially become what the Word Bearers were during the great crusade, and we all know how that ended. *cough" Erebus *cough" Lorgar "cough* 😂😅. I'm stoked to see how you like Hellsreach!
Not really, word bearers legion was built entirely around religion and the establishment of the imperial cult with any means necessary, their only purpose was to preach and worship and spread the word, their appeal for the cult was morbose, obsessive, almost on the edge of insanity, to a point that when their “god” rejected them they found other gods to worship. The black templars don’t preach, they don’t spread the word, they don’t waste time converting worlds and checking every single citizen to see if they pray 10 times a day, BT purpose is war. Black templars aren’t obsessive in their way of worshipping, they’re rather pious, firm, stoic, unyielding, self-righteous, self-punitive, they don’t worship for the sole purpose of doing it but because they truly believe in the Emperor’s Divinity and make the extermination of his enemies their unique goal. That’s why if the Black Templars were in place of the word bearers they would’ve just accepted their faith, because they knew they failed their lord, just like Sigismund did with Dorn: when faced with failure in his father eyes, simply asked him to cut his head instead of betray him. The fact they still pray following the imperial cult, a piece of paper wrote by Lorgar himself, doesn’t prove anything considering the entire imperium do, you could argue that the white consuls are literally word bearers because they follow the imperial cult too at this point.
@@ti8ick Oh definately. If your not familiar with the founding of the Black Templars. And how it ties into the whole verse. Beyond what you have learned in this reaction video. I also would recommend watching 'The Last Church' as a foundation that will help your understanding about the Emperor and the Imperium. I'm looking forward to your Luetin reaction about the Emperor. 😀
Black Templars are actually Codex compliant when it comes to size, as they use the inbuilt loophole that the limit of 1000 battle-brothers do not apply if the chapter is on crusade; and they are _ALWAYS_ an crusade...
I've honestly never heard of "Hellsreach". I try to understand, find stories and knowledge within the lore as I go, pretty much like the lady in the video is doing it, as I don't play the table-top game, yet find this universe more fascinating than others that I've dived in long ago.
Helsreach the novel got me into black templars and universe of 40k. “I will triumph in this place or I shall die, until the end brothers!!!! Grimaldus hero of helsreach. Also the the fan made movie of helsreach was so good and deserves a re act video
Black Templars were my first army because they look cool as fuck and I love the Knights Templar inspiration they have. Too much zealotry too edgy? That’s some heresy!!!!
Yeah a lot of people consider the Black Templars to be some of the “worst” “good guys” in that they fight for the Imperium (which calling them a good entity is debateable, I think saying they’re generally the protagonist is more fair) and are willing to commit the most atrocities that they deem necessary to further the survival of the imperium. They also are ironically kind of one of the more heretical chapters while also being one of the most loyal, in that they are extremely loyal to the God Emperor (or their idea of him) more than the Imperium itself which is shown when they blow up the ship trying to bring them Primaris marines at the order of Guillaman (who is running the Imperium at the time) because they believe it’s blasphemy to imply that someone could make an upgrade of something the Emperor has created (the OG space marines). So in their loyalty to their idea of the God Emperor they have quite literally attacked and killed Imperial allies as well a Custodes, which is kinda a huge deal
Sort of, but you have to remember 95% of what happened during and just before the great crusade regarding the Emperor were altered memories and psychic illusions
@@DaveGeordie That is indeed accurate, and gives a great insight on what his goals for humanity was, especially the Imperial truth But to get even a glimpse of the real Emperor and his real plan, you have to dive very deep into 40k lore, lore analysis videos, most of the books, obscure references and ofc the 40k wiki to sort out all the Imperial propaganda and altered memories at massive scales. The big E and Malcador tampered even with the memories of the Primarchs For example some of the biggest lies of the great crusade that very few seem to know are that the Emperor was not a 10 foot giant, but just a normal sized/looks ancient Mesopotamian man, just psychically projecting a mental illusion of himself into people's minds (which is why all Primarch's for example have a different description of him). Also while the reasons for the purging and death of the 2nd and the 11th Primarch's are unknown, their legions are not lost, but were absorbed into the Iron Fist and the Ultramarines. *Sigismund particularly,* is almost certainly originally from either the 2nd or the 11th legion
@Songfugel The part of him being the size of a normal man hasnt been confirmed. Its just suggested. Though that being said, its probably true. Anyway, i digress, i think you are over analysing my original comment. I was merely pointing out not everything is what it seems
@@DaveGeordie I am not disagreeing with you, just adding in a bit more info. Nah, Emperor using an illusion is pretty much confirmed. There are a massive amount of references to it, and even sister of silence accounts about it (since they are immune to the psychic suggestion). That is also why the 10 foot Emperor suddenly appeared out of thin air, even though he had been a major player in humanity for nearly 30k years even before that
The Templars are indeed a kick ass Chapter. & by CURRECT lore this is all spot on accurate. But there is a key thing you'll need to remember when you watch Helsreach. When Helsreach was written, NONE of the Astartes chapters saw Big E as a God! As such the Templars in the Helsreach story DO NOT see Big E as a God. So will look strangely upon the Imperial creed & state religion. Also if you will be watching Helsreach in parts, you MUST do parts 7 & 8 in the same viewing. You'll thank us when you see why. Hope everyone is having an amazing week & much love from here in the UK

Helsreach is a wonderful book... Essentially Black Templars are more "kill the enemy" than "protect the people". I mean, many chapters are, but these guys embody that! Luckily, the for us imperial citizens, the Salamanders exist as well!
If you think the Horus Heresy is sad wait until you find out what happened in Istavan 3. ‘This death,’ rasped the voder, ‘this death is ours. We choose it. We deny you your victory." 😥

I would love to see your reaction on Adeptus ridiculous podcast. The number 1 recommandation from me is the Trazyn the infinite episode. Its super hilarious and its not as long as the other episodes.😆
They are not entirely "F*ck off Codex Astartes" tho, more like they're exploiting a loophole in the Codex Astartes wherein, recruitment/number of battle brothers are not limited to 1000 (+) marines because of the provision in the Codex that as long as they are in an Active Crusade (constantly in battle, along multiple fronts with little to no reprieve or rest) their numbers/recruitment are not to be limited.
The "Lectitio Divinatus" or the imperial belief if you want to call it that was invented by Lorgar, so the imperium has a religion founded by a traitor.
There are way more than 1.000 Black Templars but they exploit a loophole in the Codex Astartes where the size limit of a Chapter is lifted during a crusade. This is the reason they have been in an uninterrupted crusade for 10K years. The crusade is always subdivided into a few sub-crusades, so their crusade never ends. Of course, the Inquisition has its suspects about the size of the Black Templar Chapter, but it is difficult to account precisely for the number of Astartes, in different crusades, in different parts of the Galaxy, at the same time. More if the same astartes are free to move from one crusade to another. And, of course, nosy Inquisitors have a high death rate in battles against the enemies of the Empire.
Codex Astartes is like a code of conduit and general war doctrine Roboute Gilliman wrote to all space marines when he reformed the legions into chapters... stuff like number of space marines in each chapter, military doctrine and stuff like that. The Black Templars chose not to follow the guidelines and pursue their own military doctrine nd code of contuit and such
Black Templars and Adepta Sororitas are the coolest. Although i wonder what's going to happen to them when the Emperor comes back and goes like "what the fuck did i tell you about religions?". Although IF he ever returns, i bet he will accept Godhood. Also, i wonder how in the hell they haven't gone to an all out war with the "atheists" like the Dark Angels or the Imperial Fists themselves.

Bladermorr's videos are all epic!!! 💪😎💪😁
My 40k army is a crusade of Black Templars and Sisters of Battle.
Based on the Templar Knights during the crusades during the 10TH-12TH century, my favorite chapter in all of Warhammer 40K..
Black Templars are actually Codex compliant when it comes to size, as they use the inbuilt loophole that the limit of 1000 battle-brothers do not apply if the chapter is on crusade; and they are _ALWAYS_ an crusade...
One thing that still astounds me are the fleets of ships imagine 1000m to 8 km long ships orbiting a planet
No Pity! No Remorse! NO FEAR!
After my catachan army is decked out I am torn between black templars and dark angels. Love them both.
I've honestly never heard of "Hellsreach". I try to understand, find stories and knowledge within the lore as I go, pretty much like the lady in the video is doing it, as I don't play the table-top game, yet find this universe more fascinating than others that I've dived in long ago.
I see a mini and I want it painted black
I'd recommend watching "Cry havoc" by a vox in a void when you got time. It's a really good world eaters story :)
Helsreach the novel got me into black templars and universe of 40k. “I will triumph in this place or I shall die, until the end brothers!!!! Grimaldus hero of helsreach. Also the the fan made movie of helsreach was so good and deserves a re act video
No Mercy! No Remorse! No Fear!
Black Templars were my first army because they look cool as fuck and I love the Knights Templar inspiration they have. Too much zealotry too edgy? That’s some heresy!!!!
Black Templar are the holiest of crusaders. Also painting up some Sons of Phoenix to go with
Yeah a lot of people consider the Black Templars to be some of the “worst” “good guys” in that they fight for the Imperium (which calling them a good entity is debateable, I think saying they’re generally the protagonist is more fair) and are willing to commit the most atrocities that they deem necessary to further the survival of the imperium.
When you read the horus heresy novels, it's a big eye opener on what the emperor was really like.
Sort of, but you have to remember 95% of what happened during and just before the great crusade regarding the Emperor were altered memories and psychic illusions
@Songfugel So, it's an eye opener on what the emperor is truly like......?
@@DaveGeordie That is indeed accurate, and gives a great insight on what his goals for humanity was, especially the Imperial truth
But to get even a glimpse of the real Emperor and his real plan, you have to dive very deep into 40k lore, lore analysis videos, most of the books, obscure references and ofc the 40k wiki to sort out all the Imperial propaganda and altered memories at massive scales. The big E and Malcador tampered even with the memories of the Primarchs
For example some of the biggest lies of the great crusade that very few seem to know are that the Emperor was not a 10 foot giant, but just a normal sized/looks ancient Mesopotamian man, just psychically projecting a mental illusion of himself into people's minds (which is why all Primarch's for example have a different description of him).
It would be interesting to see rogal dorn thinks of the black templar
Templin Institute. Not sure we can use them as a source for anything anymore. By their own words "The idea that 40k have a strict canon is wrong". Basicly saying "We can say anything is canon if we want".
I watched HelsReach last week..why have i not been getting into warhammer 40k sooner!!
Warhammer lore always blows me away 🤯
They are just are a little religion zealots :D helsreach is one hell of a movie!! Insane voice over as well as art style and an amazing story!! You're in for a treat!
Can’t wait for Helsreach!!!!
THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!!! 💪😎💪
Yess, helsreach incoming!! 🤘
You HAVE to watch "Space King" by Flashgitz!! It is an absolutely absurd and hilarious on space marines. Keep the videos coming your doing a great job!
Thank you so much! I've had their animations recommended before, but featuring mostly furrys looool I've added this one to my list as well
@@ti8ickHow do you know this! Did I miss your reaction video to Flash Gitz!?
For the Emperor of Mankind beloved by all!!!
Dear Black Templars, how is Sigismund doing? After meeting the old friend of his, Ezekiel
OI, Sigismund, Jago Sevatarion says hello.
For Dorn, For Sigismund, and For The Emperor
Ah yes, the CEO's of Space-racism
Yaaaasss!!! My main army!!! 🤘🤘
Black Templars! =O) Love!
Helsreach is a wonderful book... Essentially Black Templars are more "kill the enemy" than "protect the people". I mean, many chapters are, but these guys embody that! Luckily, the for us imperial citizens, the Salamanders exist as well!
Wake up lads! Tibs uploaded something! 🤩
If you Haven't watched it already "The Last Church" would be a good one to watch for lore expansion on 40K.
Also Blame Erebus for the whole Heresy ( Not Horus Heresy it's the Erebus Heresy.)
Wh40k looney tunes edition is pretty funny. Worth a watch
lol thanks for the recommendation, added it! I already have a bunch of Flashgitz animations that I'm planning to react to
Trust me you already know 90% of what most fans do
I wonder if she has seen the carbot animations of the BT's ;)
If you think the Horus Heresy is sad wait until you find out what happened in Istavan 3.
‘This death,’ rasped the voder, ‘this death is ours. We choose it. We deny you your victory."
😥
I am A Black Templar Player and the actual Number of the Templar Force is Estimated Between 1 up to -11K. Stretched in a Area Greater then the Empire of Man itself. :D they are some sort of Warhammer Nazis because of the Racism against Xenos.
if you dont mind reading subtitles i suggest you "Indomitus 40k" it's in french but god his storytelling is top tier!
Thank you, added some of their videos to watch on my own time. The French sounds so soothing 😊
You should check out The Imperium's Greatest Defeats by luetin09. Seriously, part 2 where there is a brief, about 15-20 mention of Cadia... it hits hard. Trust me on this.
Oh no... not Cadia 😭 I added the video to watch it eventually, thank you!
@@ti8ick you're welcome. And well a bit of a correction, not greatest but worst defeats but you know. I remembered wrong. Makes more grammatical sense hehe.
They are basically Battle Sister Astartes
PUUUUUURGING WIIIITH MY KIIIIIIIIIIIIN
I would love to see your reaction on Adeptus ridiculous podcast. The number 1 recommandation from me is the Trazyn the infinite episode. Its super hilarious and its not as long as the other episodes.😆
Im soooooo happy rn
When you do get to watch Helsreach be prepared to cry your eyes out, just a heads up.
Baldumort’s black Templar entry is far superior
I shall always be a black Templar. Pray to our God, emperor or you shall go out the airlock.
If you want a lore accurate version of the lore around the black Templars, watch flashgitz 40k vids
looool everyone keeps mentioning those. Definitely will
@@ti8ick it is a very informative documentary, only lasts a few minutes but has TONS of Lore
Do one on the Carcharodons please! 😄
My chapter!!
The "Lectitio Divinatus" or the imperial belief if you want to call it that was invented by Lorgar, so the imperium has a religion founded by a traitor.
What does "deviating from the Codex Astartes" mean?
@@painlord2kDo they really get to operate completely independently, writing the orders they obey instead of getting them from the Emperor?
Uncle Roboute is disappointed with them. No signed editions for the Black Templars.

Roboute Guilliman "I don't like their religious stance but points to creativity and Inquisitorial selection"
day 152 of waiting for the harlequin lore video
🤣
I still have skin Black Templar in Space marine online
Black Templars and Adepta Sororitas are the coolest. Although i wonder what's going to happen to them when the Emperor comes back and goes like "what the fuck did i tell you about religions?". Although IF he ever returns, i bet he will accept Godhood.
Also, i wonder how in the hell they haven't gone to an all out war with the "atheists" like the Dark Angels or the Imperial Fists themselves.
At first glance they seem ex Dark Angels, rather than ex Imperial Fists, I reckon. 😄
Umm, NO!… Black Templars are actually loyal. And would you care to explain the location of the strike cruiser Ophidium Gulf…. I’ll leave you with these few words…
No Pity, No Remorse, No Fear
And
WE KNOW!
@@swordbrotherplatt9392 Alright, mate. 😄
