The whole highway chase scene is, in my opinion, the best action scene ever created in a movie. It's the pinnacle of the whole trilogy for me. It's so incredibly well-crafted. It's easy for stuff that's made to look cool to just look cool but then have no more substance after that and therefore ultimately falling flat, but that whole scene is oozing with coolness while still being expertly built. I just LOVE it.
You should definitely continue with part 3. It wouldn't make sense to stop here. Great video and reaction!

If you are into the Matrix universe, the Animatrix is a decent supplement that came out between 1 and 2. A series of different animated shorts from different styles telling different stories. One goes over the events leading up to the war and the war itself, one tells the story of The Osiris (Niobi briefly mentioned near the beginning), and another tells the backstory of one of the characters in this one. The rest of them are just kinda neat stories.

Parts 2 and 3 are like one big movie. Everything that starts here ends in the next part. Also, part 3 can give a new mind blowing perspective on the whole story, if you can catch it ;)
Yes, aye, 2 and 3 were filmed together for continuity and cost reasons. Editing work, some clever editors to make the 2nd film then the third instalment and make it look right. Watching three closes the circle. 4 i cannot remember even.

i can't believe people told her not to react to 3, that's idiotic. 2 ends on a huge cliffhanger, if you do 2 you gotta do 3 as well.
i completely understand people saying not to watch 4 though, but that's a completely different story. i knew 4 would be bad after jupiter ascending was one of the worst movies ever made, but it was even worse than i expected. i tried to watch it 3 separate times and couldn't even make it halfway through.
i remember seeing jupiter ascending in the store, and i read the back of the case, and it said "from the directors of the matrix." i got really excited, bought it, went straight home and started watching it, and just like the matrix 4, i couldn't bring myself to get halfway through it.
seems like every director gets worse over time. look how lucas ruined the original star wars trilogy by making more and more changes to it every year until it wasn't the same. the one scene that completely ruined the entire star wars trilogy for me was adding in vader yelling "nooooooooo!" while the emperor was electrocuting luke. it completely ruined the tension and emotion of the scene, and he could have done that from the beginning, he didn't need new tech to add in a stupid line. like i said though, he knew it was better and more emotional with no dialogue at the time, then he just went retarded.

Carrie Ann Moss (Trinity) took to the stunt driving like a duck to water too. I think her father is a stunt guy. She did all of her own driving in the Matrix movies.
Seraph is actually from a different version of the Matrix, it is said he was an agent for the Paradise Matrix where every human being was to be happy - the first Matrix ever designed, the agents there looked like modern biblical angels. You see in Neo's vision that Seraph is gold/orange colored, which means he's not ordinary software within the Matrix but firmware with its own hardware jacked into the Matrix. He's like an active anti-virus program on a plugged-in USB device that obeys different rules than that of the Matrix itself, but probably the rules of the Paradise Matrix, with the purpose of protecting the Oracle from viruses like Smith.
Thanks Biss, you're the best. I love the breadth of your knowledge (Persephone and Hades, etc), and I love your "kissy-face"! Favourite scene was the multi-Smith fight in the games yard. Go for 3, but not 4.

Yep, Zion is the last free city. The first Matrix film was in 1999. Four years before this film. The one Neo fights before seeing The Oracle was a program. When Neo destroyed Smith in the first film, he gave him the power to duplicate himself. Neo did not see Trinity die in his vision because it was still something that could be changed. Great reactions to your second Matrix film, Miss Biss!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I recommend watching the next sequel.

The Animatrix anthology was released between The Matrix and Reloaded. Please check it out to discover why the boy wanted to help them carry their luggage upon their return to Zion at the beginning of the movie. The anthology adds a ton of lore to the movies ☺

I'm surprised you didn't have more of a reaction to Neo stopping the machines outside of the Matrix at the end. Quite a big deal that he can do this. He might be the first iteration of The One that has exhibited this behavior.

Indeed. And for reasons _beyond_ those that were apparent the _first_ time I saw this movie.
Remember, in part 1, Morpheus took on Agent Smith in order to help Trinity facilitate Neo's escape. He did it with _no_ hope of escape himself, or so it seemed, because as he had explained, however well trained the rebels can be, _none_ of them can defeat an agent.
Now, he's taking on an _upgraded_ agent.
Part 3 is going to give closure to the Trilogy. The recent production (Part 4) was not received well by the general public but, only you can form your own opinion of the final chapter.
I say go for it!
Part four is probably my favorite of the whole series!
It had neat ideas, but the action was painful. It was like they forgot how to shoot fight scenes, which they sorta did, as, IIRC, they didn't have the guy who did the original trilogy.

The Matrix is about the trans experience and Resurrections is Trinities coming out story. During the final swarm when the system is trying to keep Trinity from realizing her true self. Neo absolutely can fly and do all the things he used to do. He doesn't though, because he's being there for Trinity. Allowing her to find herself and unlock her full potential. So he simply offers protection until the roof scene. Where they jump and Neo places his faith in her. It's love, it's being there for someone as they come into their own. Fully supporting her knowing she has the potential to fly! He was there for her and believed in her just as she was for him back in the original.

@@savagestarlight7311 All fair points, but I'm not sure where we're disagreeing. I said the plot was interesting, but the action cinematography, which was one of the most defining features of the original trilogy, was terrible. I don't think anything in your post contradicts those points, unless I'm misunderstanding (not an uncommon event).
@@michaelccozens I think the final action sequence especially, is amazing! Have you seen any of the behind the scenes? The director Lana stayed glued to the camera man the whole shoot. They also used a lot more improv in their style this time around. The original trilogy was very controlled and choreographed. Resurrections was more free flowing and chaotic. The difference is like an old video game getting a sequel on next gen hardware in a completely new game engine. Which really works because this is the Matrix running on a new revamped system.

By killing Smith in the way that he did at the end of the first film, Neo altered Smith's program, somehow giving him the ability to duplicate himself.
Here, Smith copied over Bane's digital consciousness and downloaded himself into Bane's body in the real world. Scary stuff.
Neo also seems to have gotten a power boost after being in the architect's presence and can now manifest powers outside the Matrix.
The Merovingian having vampires, werewolves and ghosts in his employ is also very cool.
Monica Belluci is (as always) stunning & flawless as his long-suffering wife, Persephone.

Seraph the One you call shiny was The One before Neo, in the previous version of the Matrix.
I don't care for the hate this film may get, it's damn entertaining and has some of the best action set pieces to this day! Also the music is so underrated, so distinct to the world of the Matrix (plus Rob Dougan's tracks are very cool). It's beyond me why people don't acknowledge/appreciate it more. I also love the philosophy of the trilogy even if there's some ropey dialogue, Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) makes up for it all in spades! The third film is worth watching to complete the story but the fourth one... kind of wish that didn't exist but has a few decent scenes.
One thing this movie suffers from is early (and bad) CGI that’s overused.
Part 4 is amazing! It's probably my favorite of the whole series. It beautifully bookends the whole thing. The Matrix is about the trans experience and love. The original trilogy is mostly from a closeted perspective. Part 4 is much more open about it and it's beautiful.

@@jetklaatu9831 they did a fine job with the first one, as it’s close to a perfect movie imo. The issue isn’t the CGI exactly, but rather the technology wasn’t great yet, and the CGI just looks bad at that stage.

@@MoMoMyPup10 I don't remember, it's been a while since I watched it for the first time, but everything in "The Animatrix," happens before the beginning of the 3rd movie, some of it happens before the first movie, so for the narrative to be intact it would make sense to watch it before "Revolutions."
Animatrix, i have that. Very manga like animation. I am not sure a reaction would be self-standing against the brogue of the Matrix and the second one here. Fine title though.
@@rlytho2555 yup, actually Animatrix came out between Reloaded and Revolutions. It was great release decision because you were super hyped about the third one. I know I was when I went to see them at the theater in 2003.

if you listen closely during the big fight scene between Neo & Smith in the courtyard, at one point Neo knocks down a whole bunch of Smiths & you can hear bowling pins.

Definitely do 3, it's actually one movie, 2 and 3, they filmed them back to back.
4 is ...OK, but different....only do it if you love the characters and have to have more. It's not too bad, just kind of weird and ultimately just for fun.

The special effects in _Reloaded_ and _Revolutions_ were _orders of magnitude_ better than in the first one, but in the first one, they were, nonetheless, _groundbreaking._ I have had occasion to believe that _The Matrix_ was intended as a standalone movie.
Biss, you're better at guessing clues than I am, and I already guessed how 3 would end before 2 was halfway done, so I assume you already know. But 3 is certainly worth watching, even though you know how it's going to end. Of course, it's tough to top the car chase & fight scene in this episode. And yes, some of us could have used some of that chocolate cake.

I just found this channel the other day from your original Matrix reaction and was looking for your reaction to reloaded. What perfect timing lol.
They actually built a mile & a half long Highway for the car chase scene in the Cadillac and used/crashed over 300 cars making that scene! Now THAT is dedication!!!!

In one movie in the _Scary Movie_ franchise, they lampooned it with George Carlin talking to Anna Faris, using a lot of _similarly_ grandiloquent, cloying language, and finally, at one point, laying a _dictionary_ in his lap and leafing through it while he says, "That's a word, right?"
Definitely watch 3! It’s my favorite of the trilogy. But 4 is totally unnecessary. The story ends and wraps up perfectly in 3
I disagree, 4 is also a must watch. Not watching 3 and especially 4 is like not watching Star Wars 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9. They are not needed but does add to the story so worth watching just for that.
Part 4 is amazing! I absolutely adore that film to pieces! The matrix films are about the trans experience and part 4 is much more open about it. The original trilogy was more from a colseted perspective.

matrix was made has standalone movie on the begining, thats why the first one is the best.. but they did a good job on making the 2 and 3 has trylogy so all the story of matrix is on 3 ones, the 4 movie is literally like a parody of the original masterpiece so thats why i think you should end on 3rd one and if you want the whole lore of matrix and know more you should react (instead of 4 movie) to the Animatrix shorts, they go abit more deep on the matrix story holes

FUN FACT: Where is The Matrix Reloaded Freeway? Located on Alameda Island, in California, the freeway was exactly realistic. It was the first freeway built by a Hollywood studio.

Definitely watch 3 and 4. Do not miss 4. It is The Matrix Resurrections that gives you a comforting plot from the whole tetralogy. Don't be carried away by the comments to not watch the fourth part of the franchise. You know why when you watch The Matrix Revolutions.

There's another series of movies much like this, but much earlier and groundbreaking. Tron, from the early 80s. And it's sequel which came out much later. But the first is a must watch.

The movie like this, that came out first, is Tron. Came out in 82 I think. They made a sequel about 20!years later. This movie to me, is about good vs Evil. There are many biblical names and references, in this movie.

You are Andrea from the series Limitless, "She knows things" and also has the same accent as you.
Limitles was a moviie (main character was played by Bradley Cooper) and later also a series was made based on it(with another lead but movie lead did several apparences as the original movie character).
Deffinetly i would reccoment both (movie first).
Saddly only 2 season of the series, still was nice chill series.
The original movie was never going to be topped. It was a generation defining movie. I think 2 and 3 are solid, but expectations need to be realistic. 4 I've not watched yet so no comment on that one.

The second and third movies have grown on me over time. They were such a large change from the first in tone and I did not like them at first. However over time I have come to appreciate them as part of the great story and I do like them. I would finish out the series.

Trinity's Ducati ride was the highlight for me. The fact that a large section of highway was built for that car/bike chase scene still amazes me.
I enjoyed 3 & 4, not as much as the Reloaded or the first, but they have their moments.
Eh.!? They built that just for the film.? I hope they used the road as an actual motorway and is not just ‘put into storage’.
@@De5O54 only a 1.25 mile section was built. It was on a decommissioned naval air station. Not sure what they did after production. Be a huge waste if it was dismantled, so many other projects could use it.

3 seem repetitive. It came across like the writers had written themself into a philosophical dead end and could come up with a good way out.
Revolutions (Part 3) finishes out the trilogy's story. Resurrections (Part 4) is a completely unnecessary attempt to revive the franchise and keep it going. I'd recommend Revolutions just to see how the story ends, but I wouldn't bother with Resurrections. However, I would instead recommend The Animatrix, a collection of animated shorts that explore more ideas, fill in some of the backstory before the movies, and bridge some of the gaps between the movies.

I would recommend watching the third Matrix movie but pass on the fourth one. Also, there is a Matrix animated anthology movie called "The Animatrix" which, in my opinion, is well worth watching and may answer some questions you may have about the matrix history.
3 is the best one. The 4th is cancer.

Absolutely watch 3, you will be very satisfied and is a wrap up to the series. Part 4, is definitely an attempt to profit from the popularity of the Matrix series. They did a pretty good job, but it certainly wasn't needed, it's entertaining just unnecessary. Think of part 4 as something to watch in the future as an excuse to curl up with a coffee or hot chocolate an be entertained for a bit.

I say you need to watch 3 to see what happens to Zion, to understand what's happened/happening with Bane, to finish the story. I feel like 4 is an epilogue we didn't need. The nostalgia is way too heavy-handed, and personally, the "true love/soul mate" plotline is not palatable in the least. That said, feel free to watch 4 of your own accord and make your own opinion.
Matrix 4 was actually decent. I felt like a lotta people had massively hyped expectations that they ended up disappointed. I went into it not expecting so much and it ended up good. I disagree with other people here saying to exclude Matrix 4. Just try it and form your own opinion. If you still didn't like it, it's okay. But at least you found out for yourself 😊
Matrix 4 is 60years after the last Matrix but everyone cries around like it's a remake of the first movie.... you should find out if you dont like the rest of the story. The more I watch the 4th one, the more it becomes my favorite

Matrix 2 and 3 were filmed quite a lot in Australia. (much cheaper to film there than North America). There are so many references you missed. Nebuchadnezzar was a king in the bible (Babylon, or ancient Iraq) who was driven mad by God, eating grass in the field for 7 years like bull. He destroyed Jerusalem, he obliterated it, twice.
A ‘Nebuchadnezzar’ is also a size of champagne bottle, a ‘Jereboam’ etc, all named after Biblical characters.
The woman Persephone is Italian actress Monica Belucci, she is married to the French actor who starred in the film ‘Highlander’. (Persephone is Greek myth)
The first three films are recommended, the 4th - hmm, Biss, what can I say. They only made it so they could keep the license/ franchise. Like the copyright runs out on music after 50/ 70 or 100 years, the same for movies. It is a much much less time than for music though.

The actor who plays the Architect, he is Polish. I forget his name, Victor or a name like that. I wanted to be an architect but ended up in medicine. /booorrrrring/
He played that role well. If you see the third film I do not want to spoil any connection between him and another main character. The woman who played the Oracle (Gloria Harris?) she died during the making of the Matrix film. So the ‘Oracle’ woman remains but a different black woman actress.
The writers borrow so much from various sources and philosophies. Red pill, the doors of perception, Eastern concepts etc. The two twins in white who are albino, they are Scottish. They wanted identical twins for those characters. They are not actors just identical twins.
Really excellent review. Have a pudding on me. The third film is worth it, others are ‘placeholders’ for licensing reasons Biss. They could have recorded it with a sandwich and thrown socks around. It stops the film company from leasing the franchise to other production companys.

A “superior” film by Scorsese that is a kind of remake of a Hong Kong film. Too many famous actors to list. Leonard DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen.
It is a violent, unbelievable well made film with Jack Nicholson at his best. It is an incredible film.
Too many favourite scenes in Matrix to pick one. The colour tinting and editing is fantastic. Digital was very new then in cinema camera work, cinema uses 2:40:1 aspect ratio, widescreen or cinemascope. Extremely well accomplished on a technical level. Really excellent review. Your reactions are a laugh. Ground breaking reaction to a ground breaking series of films. Kindest, be well.

You should watch the MTV Matrix parody with Will Ferrell, Justin Timberlake and Sean William Scott (you'll find it with those words). It's a short, less than ten minute comedy bit spoofing the Matrix Reloaded movie which they played in the 2003 MTV movie awards.
There are other great MTV parodies too, like Spider Man and Lord of the Rings!
Forget the nay sayers. Forget the negative BS. The Matrix story is incredible. There's more to the matrix than you know. Please keep watching. :) Thank you :)
You are watching these movies to react to them and make your own decision whether or not you like them. Don't let other peiople make that decision for you, you don't know their tastes and preferences.
My biggest critique is not only that Neo is overpowered but that they still show "the machines" almost only as enemies. The authors started to give insights into the machine society. There is "the source", the architect and some kind of... dictatorship? Programs can be replaced and sometimes choose not to want to be replaced... and "hide" in the Matrix. They... rebel.
In the third part you get to know another interesting program (in fact three who are together) and in my opinion Human should have played a smaller part in part 2 and 3. Best idea would have been if there was a rebel program that wants to work more directly together with Neo than the oracle to not only "free" humankind but also the "machinekind".
They clearly missed the most important issue of modern scifi stories: Its not about what makes a human being human... but what makes a person being a person. A person could be also non-human.
But still part 2 and 3 are really nice.
By the way... you are rarely using german words ("tschüss" this time). Do you have some relation to germany? Interesting.

Whoever told you not to watch nr 3 is a Psychopath! who skips the ending of a series? That's like reading a book and when the last chapter comes up you close the book and leave? What!? O_o
2 and 3 get a lot of unwarranted hate. Admittedly, they're not as good as 1 but I still think they're both good movies.

If you haven't seen it try watching Cape Fear. 1991 version with Robert DeNiro. Great movie.

Yes. Zion is the _one_ human city left in the _entire world._
It has occurred to me, this could be a _good_ idea if you're expecting an attack, because you want to have all your _forces_ available.
Then again, it might _not_ be a good idea if you think you might not be able to survive the _assault._ In such circumstances, you want to have _other_ human cities out there the keep the _species_ going.

Three is the best one , after the original... yeah the fourth one I didn't watch for a while and I actually just watched it last week and don't listen to reviews it was Better than People have said
Ich really liked the fighting scene on the truck. Together with the ducati scene ist is the best part of the movie. You definitley should watch part three. It is a good movie and the final of the triology. I am interested in your opinion.
Only part 4 is a big waste of time. My dinner tonight was more interesting and had more content than that movie. 😅
Some other very interesting movies you might react to are: Dobermann, The Boondock Saints, The Boot, The Hills have Eyes, Rockstar, Gangs of New York, Hero, The Life of Brian
Gangs of New York, I have not seen.
The Hills have Eyes, a type of deformed people in horror setting. There cannot be a banjo sound used as a motif or a type of ‘McGuffin’ to suggest that the town people are all related.
‘The Life of Brian’ may actually be too funny for the woman.
That film was banned in Norway when it was released. Sweden showed it in cinemas along with the advertising slogan “This film is so funny that they banned it in Norway”.

Need to see 3 to finish the story. But 4th will just make you mad. It's was a bad idea to do 3 may be just this side of campy but is definitely worth it. Also need to see the ANIMATRIX for full overall story
