The difference with New Zealand overseas players is that they've all been through the NZ system, where Irish players like Bundie Aki and James Lowe were established NZ players before playing for Ireland.
Getting the ball to the wings is what Scotland will be trying to do - Kinghorn is doing a good job on the wing for Toulouse and with him and Jordan receiving the high kicks we have some real potential to return the high ball with interest. We have to learn the lesson from the WC where SA brilliantly shout Finn down…
Hi Peter..the only thing I'm worried about is cards...it's seems to be a bit of a weakness for us at the moment leading the penalty stats in the Championship..but I don't think the Scots can live with our forwards for a full 80mins..Man it's a long wait for the Boks this weekend..at least the ABs gave me something to smile about last night..
Yeah cards can always ruin it but I think we're going to be okay here. I've been wondering if discipline in that area might be the target for us in these November Tests. Last night was not the blockbuster Test we were hoping it would be - easy win for the All Blacks in the end.
Duhan van der Merwe is an excellent player. But the Boks have some all time greats currently playing wing. How many caps would Duhan have if he played for the Boks? I'm glad that Duhan can play international rugby and have a nice career. The Scots have a pretty good team and the Boks have to take them seriously. But the Boks are 15 to 20 points better if they play properly
Absolutely he is an excellent player but as you say how many Tests would he have made the Bok side ahead of Mapimpi, Kolbe, Arendse etc? I'm also glad he could make an international career for himself.
Yes, that's a very good example from back in the day! Thanks for the reminder. I'm sure there must be a few others too. France have a few examples of guys who were born in countries like Morocco, Senegal and Ghana!
When Percy Montgomery was born, Walvis Bay was South African property and he is a born South African, in other words a South African citizen. Mandela gave Walvis Bay to Namibia after 1994
I see both sides of the argument. Take a guy like DTH Van Der Merwe. He was a club player in Worcester and nowhere near the Stormers. He moved to Canada, qualified for them and got to play at the World Cup. I don't begrudge a guy like that doing something like that.
@@frontrowrugby I bet that also. But the issue is so easy for anyone to qualify. Just few years and selected and have no Irish or Scot’s blood. Boks can make 2-3 first teams and then make another team from players who play for others. We’ve given players to Australia England Ireland Scotland France Japan I think Namibia Etc.

Good point. It's a very interesting topic.
Kinghorn is playing a lot of wing at Toulouse, he's speedy!
Thanks for that, George. I need to watch more Toulouse matches clearly.
True..but he will have to get the ball first...
Yeah might be a problem haha, although between him and duhan having height advantages, might have the upper hand on high ball..

Also interesting to see if Kinghorn will do a lot of kick and chase like Lowe does, as its a big ask for him to break tackles like darcy or duhan

Peter you completely forgot about Ray Mordt! He was also Rhodesian at that time
Yes, that's a very good example from back in the day! Thanks for the reminder. I'm sure there must be a few others too.

@ Corne Krige and George Gegan were actually born in the same hospital in Zambia
@ funny thing that Andrew Mehtens was born in the same hospital as me in 1973, “mothers hospital “ in Durban
Yes, that's right! What are the chances?
Very cool! The hospital I was born in was torn down a few years ago and turned into an apartment block!
Our bigboys hv the tools to go on like thy are never away frm the WC
And this should scare the Scots!
When Percy Montgomery was born, Walvis Bay was South African property and he is a born South African, in other words a South African citizen. Mandela gave Walvis Bay to Namibia after 1994
Yes, that's quite right. Always thought it odd that there was this little enclave of ours over there.
Ray Mordt is from Rhodesia
Yes, another good example!
28-13 to the Boks
I like!
I agree with Andre. And it’s should be impossible to play for another country.

I agree. It does seem too easy in many cases. The depth we have is actually incredible.
🥱🥱🥱😴
You cannot play for a country without residency or citizenship.
Correct, but that's not what I was saying.
And beating your teams in the urc regularly 😂
URC is a far cry from test rugby 🏉
@martindekock4719 good job for your boys 😂
