Uncle Abdullah is a legend in his own right. A man from the Cape flats, Kensington, whose music speaks to the heart and soul of many across the world. A piece to listen to when you sit quietly and reflect..
Really beautiful ... "sad", with a brief switch from minor to major at 3:52. I've long been a fan of Abdullah Ibrahim and it's good to hear him again in his later years. This Yamaha piano must surely be the next best thing to a Steinway Grand, for a small studio - lovely sound through my audio system.
This is actually a medley of 4 songs: Ocean and the River, Blues for a Hip King, Eleventh Hour, and Blue Bolero. The last two songs were merged into one title (Blue Bolero) from Ibrahim's 2008 recording Senzo onwards, but prior to that they were always titled as 2 seperate songs.

Such beautiful playing. I love all of this man's music because when I hear him play it's like having a friend in my room.
It's magic. The touch, the breath, the blues. It's all there and the vertical piano helps with this intimate sound. In love with Abdullah Ibrahim

THIS is Blues For a Hip King!
It's a medley of three pieces. Triste, Blues for a Hip King and Blue Bolero. But this is how he plays, never one piece. Beautiful.
Simple, beau!
