It's great to see his passion that comes through in the music. Also the strength of his technique. How fantastic!
I have never heard such a superb collaboration between just two musicians. This is truly a "tour de force". It's such a treat for the ears and the soul; I love these guys.
15:55 - Ntsikana's Bell is ethereal, magical.
ntsikanas bell is such an epic song
Oh my God, Abdullah and Johnny Dyani!! Echoes of Africa! Wonderful!!

Absolute perfection does exist ladies and gentlemen.

Why lord i was born 😢 later...this Jazz it is powerful

Thanks for posting so great to see Johnny playing.
I claim him as my guru.
😅😊❤
Some of my favorite pieces by him.

Here is the difference between Dollar and other composers. Here we see him dominating with the piano 40 years ago.Now he has now need to dominate. What does he do; he just suggest the composition with a few notes and leaves it to the rest of the band to expand on the composition. What a brilliant and spiritual man.He has mastered the Silence between notes.A master of meditation on the Silence between notes and only punctuates the composition with a note here or there without the need to dominate.
...like his mentor, Ellington
Terrific concert-a pleasure to watch.
A couple of tunes missing from the setlist:
28:50 'Soweto is Where It's At'
30:30 'Shrimp Boats'
Reminds me of Moses 'Taiwa' Molelekwa... He would have carried the piano wizardry baton further...
❣️
❤️
Look how big that double bass is.this was recorded at a time when you could move them around before 911. Airline restrictions
Just amazing; also that prick in the comments who writes that "flute playing is mediocre", amuses me. Surprisingly.
!!!!
hi johnny dyani plYrdT the moon hotel, clairwood durban south africa in 1968 with pat matshikiza piano barney rachabane alto saxophone j9hnny mekoa trumpet & gilbert mathews on drums

Woow woow 😍💋 💝💖❤️
I am sorry to say that Monk could not do what Dollar has just done.Ofcource Beethoven was influenced by Mozart but what does " Moonlight Sonata" to do with Mozart. If the truth be told 60 years ago as a child I heard the rumour about Dollar's music and Monk and. as of today I still can't hear the Monk in Dollar's music.
yikes!!!!
over 40 years later, he's still singing to the pagan stone, allah. He needs to find Jesus before it's too late!
So do you.
The flute playing is very mediocre.
Well it's only the sound of your inner ear
it is traditional
It’s weird how those who don’t understand like to point that out about themselves
But were you listening to what it said?
I find it quite impressive how he manages to incorporate his voice at the same time
♥️
