- Kunzvi Dam: A Nightmare, Not a Dream
They promised a lifeline, but for the people of Kunzvi, the construction of the dam has turned into a living hell. While the government boasts of progress, these residents face a daily ordeal. Choking dust from endless truck traffic, homes trembling with every dynamite blast, and a constant fear for their children and livestock as heavy machinery rumbles through their villages. This is the reality of a project that was supposed to be a beacon of hope. But where are the promised new homes? Where is the food for those forced off their land? The people of Kunzvi are demanding answers, and they want the world to hear their plight.

Actually upsetting how these people have been treated in the name of progress. Progress should not be about crushing others - these people should have been moved well before constrction commenced. Though great to see progress being made with a new dam which should improve livelihoods through irrigation schemes.
The then Rhodesian prime minister Ian Smith told Robert Mugabe to start the construction of this dame in 1980.

I taught pa St Pauls Musami Mission for 5 years. Seeing Beta Kopje in this video is a relief. I was the school soccer team coach, so I used to run ne team yangu kubva pachikoro kunobata that network booster iro riri mu Beta Kopje.

At one point iri weekend ndakazofamba kuenda pa Cross ndikanokwira Domborembudzi. For the record, Domborembudzi ringori zidombo rakakura up to a height of approximately 90m above sea level ende rinotsveedza zvekuti if you miss one step you are dead meat. It took me something like an hour to climb from the base to its peak. Since there is no tangible vegetation in the form of trees etc on that rocky dome the amount of wind at the peak is unbearable. Kunonzi kukwira wagona asi kudzika wodaidza mai.
To those who are familiar with nzvimbo iyoyo there is also Ngomamowa Dome that is to the east of Musami Shops, ma1.

Where is the member of parliament. It seems no one care to inform the locals or care at all. Its a good project but why are the locals being made dispensible instead of also benefiting from the dam. Yes its for the greater good but information and health and safety of the locals should also be priority.
I hope part 2 we hear from leaders the area.

I remember this dam when I was working for KW Blasting Specialists back in the 90s, I thought it was finished and functioning, Zimbabwe so, nungo dzacho and incompetent dzinonyadzisa ya!!
Let's be totally honest my people,, this dam was cited way long before most of us were norn
.. If one looks at service maps it already there,,, so if you study about this area before building,, a proposed dam pops up,, emotions won't take us anywhere,,, social facilitation has been done which forms part of the stakeholders... In engineering project management means explaining and making all stakeholders understand the project scope in a language understandable to all... All preliminary investigations and tests have been done,, nobody goes off board on such a big investment.

Constructing a dam without mountains will not be easy
The geology allows it based on what I know about this area but people ate my concern some of us will be losing our tribal lands would seriously want to know what's being done about it.
There different types of founding ams depending on geological tests and recommendations
.. Mountains is not a deciding factor.. Let's leave this to experts who have did preliminary designs and investigations,,, emotions do not play a role in engineering

There are many fertile farms around Zimbabwe where they can be given reasonably sized land and resettled.
