I learned all this in my cultural psychology course! In general, asians are much more group oriented while westerners are more individualistic, and this mindset extends to how we think. Asians take the environment into account when they examine things, while westerners focus on the main focal point of a scene.
It doesn't change anything based on the color of your skin. It has a lot to do with family values, closeness of the family and their wants and needs; plus it could be that certain aspects of your life (intuitively) are more traditional. Many Latin families have a similar hierarchy of family unity. As well as some of my Russian and Somalian friends also have similar traditions as many Asians.

For the flower question, I noticed B shared 4/4 Stems, but A shared 3/4 of the same Petals, A shared 3/4 single circle flower head, and A shared 3/4 Leaves. So by overall compatibility to either A or B group our flower shares more with A. It was only the Stem that B won out on but each flower had 4 components to it. So fits A more.

Very interesting. I've lived and grown up in Asia all my life, and have only been to a Western country once (and only recently too), but I scored 3 Western and 2 Asian. Thanks for the added explanation at the end. It really helped explain things.
I'm an American of European descent. Four of my answers showed an Asian mindset and one showed a Western mindset. I've never lived in Asia and have not been around Asian people very much except one friend in junior high and some of my students when I was a teacher and counselor, so I don't know why I would have an Asian mindset! Given the examples, though, I definitely do prefer the Asian interpretations of the questions. Very interesting.

I picked stuff that show I am "Asian" but the reasons why I picked them tended to be for more Western reasons. The "which is in front" spaceship question I used perspective... but I chose the one closest to me... because I was assuming the ships were coming toward me. ie and Asian answer for very western reasons. All the other stuff I pretty much chose for Asian reasons... but I thought when i was doing it that I was being stereo typically white. Personal experiences make a huge difference in this. Just because you are Asian ethnically doesn't necessarily mean you would answer "East". I got 3/5 East, but I have no Asian DNA. However, I have studied eastern philosophies and practiced meditation.

What doesn't make sense to me is question number four, the guy in the center has a huge smile on his face in both pictures, he clearly is happy. We don't know the story behind as for why he would be happy when others aren't (maybe he beat everyone else in a game! lol) but why would anyone think he is "sad" just because others are sad?... How can he be sad and have a huge smile on his face at the same time?
I got 3 Asian. I'm not surprised since I grew up having a lot of Asian friends even though I'm an American mutt. I grew to love the Asian culture more when I found out I had a drop of Asian blood from mum side.
As a westerner, I was in the middle between western and asian. For me the first instinct was to put the flowe in group A and also the monkey went with the bananas without a doubt. But in the spaceship test I chose the western perspective, the only one I wasn't really sure of what to choose was the cylinder, I actually kind of leaned towards neither of the two.
I think these questions came from the book The Geography of Thought that discusses a lot of research on Asian and Western thought. Many of the studies the researchers used had questions like these.

I got 3 Asian and 2 Western. I'm half Iranian, so yes, I am Asian. It's always funny that the Middle Eastern side of me comes out more, even though I live in the U.S.
I actually... picked A for folowers because they had the most in common with the one in my mind.
Even though they had different stems. You know, 3 had leaves in A. 3 Had round petals. So to me it belonged in A.
So my western thought process led to an Asian answer! :)
As for third, to me, it's 3 coming towards me. So I had the western approach, and got the eastern answer again!

Got all eastern, but I'm from the south. In our region, we have a more community and clan oriented people than the rest of America, so that's not surprising. Louisiana is basically Vietnam lite
1 western, 3 Asian, 1 question mark (double no on the happy figure) I also find my mindset to speak in western terms (on the art space ships, I thought of them as comping at me rather than away) but receive asian answers.
What doesn't make sense to me is question number four, the guy in the center has a huge smile on his face in both pictures, he clearly is happy. We don't know the story behind as for why he would be happy when others aren't (maybe he beat everyone else in a game! lol) but why would anyone think he is "sad" just because others are sad?... How can he be sad and have a huge smile on his face at the same time?

I got 3 Asian. I'm not surprised since I grew up having a lot of Asian friends even though I'm an American mutt. I grew to love the Asian culture more when I found out I had a drop of Asian blood from mum side.

I got 4/5 Asian mindset. I am a Westerner (from Europe). But I do love Asian culture and often wish I'd live in Asia, so...
As a westerner, I was in the middle between western and asian. For me the first instinct was to put the flowe in group A and also the monkey went with the bananas without a doubt. But in the spaceship test I chose the western perspective, the only one I wasn't really sure of what to choose was the cylinder, I actually kind of leaned towards neither of the two.
I do have a Chinese ancestor, 4 generations back but basically born and bred western. I scored 4/1 Asian.
I think these questions came from the book The Geography of Thought that discusses a lot of research on Asian and Western thought. Many of the studies the researchers used had questions like these.
