I lived there for 3 years and loved it. So much to do outdoors, ski, golf, fish, hike. The proximity to the Sierra Nevada is unmatched. It’s quick to get to Yosemite and surrounding area too.

they should invest in a way to get rid of the homeless, so sad most american cities downtown is a disaster and Reno is a prime example, they have pumped money in it, beautiful minor league ballpark, lots of dog walking parks, art, etc etc but the homeless are in complete control of downtown and again like most american cities the suburbs are great, so here is the plan, dont go to downtown Reno, it's one big homeless shelter, Silver Legacy has great slot machines but other than that never go to downtown Reno, suburbs have some great casinos, Boomtown, Bonanza, Grand Sierra, stay at Bonanza or Grand Sierra, downtown truly disgusting

The history section overlooked the Washoe people who have been in Tahoe-Reno and beyond for many thousands of years. In fact, their language is thought to pre-date even other indigenous languages in California such as Paiute, Maidu and Miwok, suggesting Washoe speakers may be among the earliest of any humans to the region.

I know a lot has changed since I've been gone but I just miss it so much. There is so much more to this city and the people there then you can find in any video. And I know that's how most people feel about their homes.

Its nice that you try to highlight the superficial things about Reno that many locals don't care much about, but the true essence of the city and its burgeoning unique flavor that made its downtown and midtown so unique have disappeared forever. Downtown looks like a psychiatric hospital full of homeless people and gone are all the casinos packed with tourists along with the unique bars and greasy joints that made downtown one of a kind, not to mention the art galleries, coffee shops and cool hang outs that existed a decade ago. Downtown is a shell of its former self and even the climbing wall is a joke, but kudos on the effort nonetheless.

    • @kylea.185

It will always be a scaled down version of Las Vegas however Reno offers much more in terms of activities and hobbies for visitors and residents alike while Vegas provides more than enough indoor entertainment than anybody can handle it's much more limited when you try to go outside and seek out things to do not that Vegas doesn't offer any outdoor recreation but it's definitely less than Reno in terms of number of options and variety Plus Las Vegas in the summer is almost unbearable versus Reno for the most part the summer months are very enjoyable rather than weeks and weeks of 110° Plus like Vegas has to suffer through Reno will typically have only a week maybe two worth a days or it gets to 105 degrees the City of Reno gets to enjoy four seasons and it's residence can experience a balanced variety each of those seasons bring without going to the extremes sure it snows in Reno but typically it's a little more than a dusting that might stick around for a few days of course drive just outside of the city and some of the world's finest Winter ski parks are right in their backyard. So yes Reno will always be Las Vegas is second cousin or red-headed stepsister or like I've always thought of it as being the addicted version of Vegas but honestly I would much rather live in Reno than Las Vegas and the couple times that I've been to either of the cities was with groups of friends and I honestly had much better time in Reno and it's smaller more compact downtown district. Nobody was ever separated from the others for to long. Unlike Vegas there was a few friends we never were able to find for a few days. Las Vegas might be the world's entertainment playground sin City but in my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with being the biggest little city in the world!
