  • If you're looking for a new home with 300+ days of sunshine, Consider Nevada.
Known as the Silver State, and the home of "The Biggest Little City in the World"! But seriously, Nevada is a fantastic place to live with a lot to offer, from bustling cities to quiet suburbs, and from mountain ranges to desert landscapes.
Nevada is a diverse and beautiful state with a lot to offer. Home to over 2.9 million people, Nevada has so much more to offer than just Las Vegas. Lake Tahoe, Red Rock Canyon, and the Valley of Fire are all just waiting to be explored. We'll share with you some of the best places to live in the state, based on factors like median home values, median rents, housing options, and population.

I am a 40 year resident of Nevada and worked for the Governor's Office for 13 years so I know a lot about Nevada The narration of this video needs a lot of corrections. First, the announcer did not know how to properly pronounce Nevada, Winnemucca, or Pahrump. He then stated that Winnemucca is the gateway to the Black Rock Desert. Winnemucca is 100 miles east of the Black Rock Desert on a very bad dirt road. Gerlach is the gateway to the Black Rock Desert. He mentioned that Elko was "sparsely populated". Elko has a population of 20,000 and Spring Creek, a few miles south of Elko, has a population of 15,000. I would not define a metro area of 35,000 people as sparsely populated. For the Sparks area, he said that the Spanish Springs area was on the Eastern Side; it actually on the north side of Sparks. He said that the D'Andrea Ranch area was in North Sparks; it is in East Central Sparks. Someone who knows Nevada should go through this video narration with the authors so people do not laugh at the obvious mistakes.

He also did not know how to pronounce Yosemite. And somehow not mentioning Gardnerville Minden and Carson City misses a lot of nice Nevada area.

Moved to Fallon in 2001..went to Iraq in 2006. Came back in 2011 to Reno..I used to like it, somewhat, but the homeless and the growth spurts with building in every square inch has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I am closing on the sale of my condo next week and moving in an RV park. First stages of my plan to leave Reno. I have a place on the outskirts of Fallon which will be my home base...Nevada isn't what it used to be but then again, no place in America is what it use to be. Every thing is going to hell in a hand basket..there is no escape!!!

Pahrump - Close to Vegas is also a place worth considering. It is near the Death Valley Park - CA. Plenty to do & can go nuts in Vegas which is an hour's drive. Lots of Old Ghost Towns & old Borax Mines. The lowest point BADWATER ( close - to 285 Ft below Sea level ).

What is the wealth gap? That number has more to do with quality of life for those persons at the lower end of the earning sample. For instance rent is based on median income but a huge wealth gap means more of the income is going to rent. For example in New York over 120% of income goes to rent, which means almost everyone relays on rental assistance

Dont forget about the big cockroach problem here! We have 2 (or four) different species of roaches. One of which flies. (Found that out one day when it was on my front door!) Healthcare is terrible. And I mean bad! Make sure you work from home if you move here because you will wait months to work unless you want to work in a casino. If you are looking to make new friends here, it probably wont happen unless they are through your job. Neighbors keep to themselves. If you feel isolated where you living now, you will feel more that way moving out here. There are good parts to living here too, but just know its a very "empty" vibe out here. Visit for a week or at least 4 days before making your decision to move here. Real estate agents are nice and somewhat honest but they wont tell you everything. But they will do a very good job at "selling vegas" and the lifestyle to you. When you look around outside your hotel at some of the many displaced looking people here that look "down and out", remember that they are telling you a story about what its really like living there. Oh and last but not least, the scammer HOAs out here. They dont do anything about keeping your neighborhood clean (unless you live in summerlin) but will nit pick you about everything! I would suggest moving either out of the country, texas, AZ, or florida. Anywhere but nevada.

The info is questionable at best. In Reno, the median rent $1250?
Sure, if you live in a studio or a dumpy 1bedroom apartment.
Most of nevada is dry and ugly.
?Fallon or Fernly… total dump, way out in the middle of the ugly ass desert.
Do not move here. The traffic is horrible, they don’t have the infrastructure and roads to handle this population boom. But apparently that doesn’t matter because everywhere there is construction and new developments.
With the climate changing, it’s going to even be hotter/drier/windy in summer, and colder/dry/windy. It doesn’t USUALLY snow much, but, because it’s so cold here, what snow that does fall stays around longer and your driving around on ice. The cost of living keeps going up here.
A school teacher could not afford to live comfortably here. In fact, there is no way they could afford a place for a family. That’s a problem. Stay away, you’ll prob hate it as much asmindo
