Thank you something else I noticed the rpm gauge isn't working when it wouldn't start but it will but works when it does start mines does the same The RPM gauge works when you're just turning it over normally
Hi were you able to take this switch out while using the infrared remote key or did you use the valet key? I only have the infrared key and was wondering if after I remove the ignition with the tool, then the wire coupler, can I then take the key out because the remote doesn't fit through the dash hole, correct? Thanks
I forgot, do a search on BenzWorld R129 forum for your year or google it, it should be easier than replacing electrical part, but you never know with Mercedes.
@@cromanczuk Yes, I would before replacing switch , mine is a 91, I found one wire at the ignition module EZL located on drivers side fender, that wire goes to ignition switch and feed power to it, make sure you have 12 volts at wire, if good then I would suspect switch.
I always swich off the rafio in my R129 before l put it to sleep. What's really annoying is that the next time l start the car the radio is switched on too. It-s a royal pain in the ass.

I only have IR key also.
My dash lights are out and only my SRS light is on. Crank no start. This is what I need to replace.
Sounds like ignition switch, try jiggling the key
@@mygermancars7264 yeah I tried that and putting the key in about 100 times without any change

also if you can find the pinout for switch it helps testing once switch removed to confirm its the fault.
