Imagine a different retelling where Consort Jia was the protagonist. I'm all Team Ruyi but Consort Jia would have had the most gut-wrecking, sympathetic tale. In another world, she could have been Prince Yu's Empress and true love instead of Emperor Qianlong's consort.
Unfortunately, she is an adopted child of her family and Prince Yu is another branch of a**hole like Qianlong, forcing her wife to commited suicide and manipulated Jia's feeling towards him, I dont think Jia is going to get her happy ending with him either 😭
No, she wouldn't. Jia was straight up evil. Torturing Yanwan for years for no reason. Manipulating people into killing each other. Blatantly brining people to put a good word in for her. Jia is horrible. Even as a protagonist she'd be super evil.

Ruyi uses the information from Prince Yu to extract the confession from Jia, but she can't undermine the Emperor's authority by telling Jia that Ruyi herself didn't believe a word of what Yu had said about her. For one, it would have harmed Ruyi's relationship with the Emperor to do that, but also because it was clear that there was no return for Jia with the Emperor. She was never going to share a bed with him again and her children were already being punished by being shoved aside from the line of succession.
She is obsessed with the Prince of the Yu clan that she'll even risk her life and bring disgrace and shame on herself. It is no wonder that the prince finally wrote a letter to the Emperor denouncing her birth origins. He did it to protect himself from further retribution from the Emperor and to protect his tribe. She's out of control
