The power creep should be considered as your overall team ranking like events have sometimes been in the past. Give us a variety of cards but we will have to build the team to fit our overall limitation. Early in a game cycle we may have a 99 or two but we would essentially have BR builds for a while. This will force us to use our bench for platoons and the Mike lowells, Grady sizemores, cliff Floyd's, etc will be useful for a while. Much more thought would have to go into building a team and there likely wouldn't be that much of a meta until we get a super high team overall ranking
i still think they need a 6 inning ranked mode. i love playing ranked but hate having to play a full 9 inning game that takes 45 minutes to an hour if you match with someone who pauses constantly, has shitty connection, doesn’t skip cutscenes, constant foul balls, etc. 6 innings would also help bring in the more casual weekend players to grind a separate ranked program.
Love hearing from Kriner. Its a treat hearing him relax and open up. Ya'll have a good rapport.
I'm playing RTTS for the first time and I love it. It could use a few more cutscenes and stuff like that, but there is enough to keep a normal person entertained for many hours, especially if they don't exclusively play one game. The online modes don't interest me because it's a pay (or grind like a freak) to win.
The XP cap is symbolic of the anti player mentality that has taken over at SDS...and much of the video game industry. Instead of REWARDING the players who play the most, developers see it as an INCONVENIENCE for THEM. Its lazy & ridiculous to tell players -- "STOP PLAYING! I havent made enough content for you to play so much."
Instead of creativity dealing with the people who grind hardcore, the devs slam the door in their face, as if its inconsiderate of the player. ESPECIALLY when you want people to spend money playing your game. Its downright negligent to cut people off from being rewarded AFTER youve taken their money for cards.
SDS is a shell of its former self. Where are the baseball fans at SDS? Where are the passionate "The Show" players that work for SDS b/c they love the game so much?
Not to go there -- but Playstation has been hiring, NOT on merit, but to fill quotas and check political boxes...and its destroying their 1st party studios, and has caused their 1st party games to decline vociferously in recent years. Which has lead to things like -- SDS prioritizing putting chicks in the game -- in baseball game that needs a ton of legitimate WORK. Thats inexcusable.
Why has SDS not hired the top 10 players to spend a month at the studio in the off season, brain storming ideas for new content? Making improvements to old content?
There seems to be no leadership at SDS which has lead to no pride in their work. Its all cut & paste. Its lowest common denominator. THEY STILL havent updated the engine from the PS4 era. The game looked as good 7 or 8 years ago. It played better in some ways. How is that possible? Degrading code on hardware it wasnt written for -- Care & creativity put into solving problems. They dont solve problems anymore, they put a bandaid on them. There are glitches that have been in the game for years....but starting over would take money, effort & expertise.
Current game companies like SDS just wont invest in their franchises. They want the quick buck. Look at NCAA 25 -- Its the same exact, messy animation dependent, engine as Madden. It has almost ALL the same CPU AI issues. They didnt make a new game -- the retuned the old one to play slightly differently. Its irresponsible. Its dishonest. -- Theyll make a zillion dollars anyway...
Maybe thats the answer. The community has to walk away from The Show until we are taken seriously. They arent going to change unless we make it too economically painful for them to NOT change.
Anyway -- appreciate the conversation. Kriner is a legend! If SDS arent listening to him, they are derelict in their responsibilities...but i guess thats the point.

I miss the power creep. I miss the power creep and having 94 shane victorino be my center fielder for 2 months. Now players come and go instantly, and you use the best cards within the first couple weeks of release.

What about a glow in the dark baseball mode?
"Casual" players and fifteen nine-inning games on a weekend is an oxymoron, I'm lucky to get that many games a season. Everything in the mode is already too much of a grind, they need to either go all-in on catering to the couple of hundred of people playing the game like a job or make it more casual friendly and open the mode up to people with real world commitments and other interests, I love the game but can't justify the grind it is, especially with seasons rendering the grinding useless every few months.
Conquest and mini seasons are for players that just want to play the game. Also if you guys dont like mini season or conquest dont play them
I play mostly offline. Conquest is a pain. Mini seasons is a blast. Keep doing season but up it to 6 wild card spots. Then people will have almost a full lineup they can use year round and not have to worry about the grind if they don't want. Also, they need to remove overall ratings. Just have the player stats and don't give the cards overalls. Too many people only look at the overall and only care about the overall.
Mini seasons would only be fun if they took out the cut scenes. I shouldn't have to wait around for 8 seconds watching the pitcher walk around or bend over and shot me his butthole every time I strike someone out. Forced replays and the cut scenes HAVE TO GO!
Kriner mentioned he doesn’t need stubs, then the come back with you is give us stubs or XP.. I try to like you, but you don’t listen. As you said this is coming from a competitive view, yet the rewards that are given for completing programs are for everyone, not everyone is a competitive player, your out of touch with what you want as a competitive player you think they rewards should be tilted in the favor of competitive players, just because you can’t use the card that you earned, doesn’t mean a casual can’t, this is what is crazy about your mind set you only see half the spectrum
1. I’m not a competitive player and never claimed to be
2. We should all want better rewards, competitive player or not
3. Casual players should be rewarded for their time, too
I do find it hilariously ironic that Kriner is a comms major and does a radio show given how stiff he comes off sometimes. Great episode and no hate to Kriner at all.
It is funny thinking about how critical we can be about ourselves in this game and play someone who isn't good. Then you go oh im actually not that bad lol.
19:10 with all due respect, doesn't this contradict y'all's discussion about the game modes from earlier in the pod? you said that the lack of rewards is why the modes aren't good, so i'm not sure how no rewards would help anything. if you're not having fun with the game, it just might be time to move on from it unfortunately
I see your point. I have started to scale back how much I play to try and counteract burnout.
My general point is that with everything being reward-focused instead of enjoyment-focused, it makes it hard to play the game when there isn’t anything to do in terms of unlocking something.
I think we would benefit from a game mode or play style that’s simply there to be fun as opposed to a vehicle to earning more DD cards.

I'm sorry man I disagree with you about removing modes because people dislike playing them and just because no one is talking about it or Tweeting about it doesn't mean people don't like playing them. There is a lot of players that like playing mini seasons and they have been asking for 7-9 inngs games in mini seasons and better rewards when you win the championship and make mini seasons full of actually mlb theme teams or all time team builds. The bigger problem is the rewards suck in all of the modes in mlb the show and they need to revamped them not removed them that would just cause more problems not fixing them. I remember when they had the run it back conquest map and they would put new players in the packs time to time and you can play it as many times as you wanted and sell any of the cards you got in that pack to and the last two years or so that is non-existent . The one reason I quit playing ranked is because the rewards aren't worth playing for. Hell I can sit in mini seasons and grind packs all day and I made hell of stubs doing that. Im not saying they should take that away from mini seasons they should have something like that in ranked seasons. There just need to be more modes to play and have them be worth your time and worth grinding for. They should make casual games in dd to where you get pxp and packs and cool or unique cards you can grind for over and over again and make the cool unique cards sellable for the people who have 9-5 jobs and just want to play unranked games and sit back and chill and don't have to worry about there records. Sorry about the long post. I love your content and you are about the only youtuber who would answer this question or ideas unbiased and give us your honest opinion on them.
You have every right to disagree and I welcome all (reasonable) people who object to my opinions.
SDS can’t add new and refreshing things without removing old ones, hence my stance on getting rid of some older modes to make way for new ones. It becomes a resource conversation.
I just think we can all agree on wanting something new and fresh, so I hope we can get that and enjoy it whether we’re DD players or mostly offline players.
@kdjTV611 Thank you for replying man, I do agree with you that we definitely need new modes and something refreshing. I'm afraid if you start Removing modes players will start complaining and the community is already toxic enough as it is. If you love this year's game you get attack and I don't condone players who love this year's game. And if you say you hate this year's game or complain about gameplay or content you get attack I get a lot of games are probably like this. But I if like there is no winning in this community and that is part of the problem to because sds can't find a middle ground with its players base. SDS either goes far left or way too far right and they can never find a middle ground because of the players base.
The issue with mini seasons and conquest is they are both just playing the computer. That mode already exists as play vs cpu. The only difference is the team build being live series or not. Taking it away imo is nothing because there are still a million ways to play the computer but at the end of the day that gets boring to most people. If it doesnt for you thats great but again theres a million different ways to do it. Get rid of mini seasons

I have to disagree with the opinion y’all have on the new sets format. It’s objectively better than the usual power creep format but everyone is so blinded by their hurt feelings that they’re unable to see why. Ok I get it doesn’t feel good. You feel like you lose all the cards you grinded for. Wipe the tears and let’s use our brains. Regardless of the format, we will be grinding for new cards early in the year and still grinding for new cards right now in July. So in a power creep format, is a 90ovr that you earned in April/may playable in July? Absolutely not. So the grinding we did back in April/may is completely useless now. You know what isn’t useless? The 99ovr Rollins 99 posada 99 Betts 99 etc. that I grinded for in April/may thanks to the wildcard spots I have. My grinding actually meant something, we got to use 99s sooner, and when S2 came out there was different but very viable captains that made for really fun and unique team building. I admit s1 was rough, but the devs are doing great atm

Here's an idea that will never happen - don't make us grind for cards. Just give us cards to play with. Charge $100 for the game but require no grinding. I know it'll never happen because they have to sell stubs to idiots, but we need to get away from having to grind 400 hours a year just to get a card just to play the god damn game!
The grind is the entire game mode. That is the part that is fun.
@@ekerson To an extent; however, grinding for garbage isn't fun. If we have a fun online mode worth playing, or a super in depth franchise like MVP 04/05, then I can see how grinding would be fun. But it isn't any more.
Edit: don't get me wrong. I still enjoy playing conquest and other offline mode while jumping into ranked (17-4 this year) or co-op. I'm actually doing an online league right now to mix it up. Live Series plays much better, and is way more fun, than DD.

We can have everything but the money grab maddens pay to win system is terrible the power creep gives everyone a chance the cornerstone boost allowed you to remain balanced with some of the top cards. Card rewards system allows you to complete collections NEW GAME MODES PLEASE !!!
