I reacted to • The Best Larry Bird vs...
A great athlete will get you..."ooohs & aaahs"! A great player "will Win the game"! Dominique Wilkins
I choose Larry Bird no matter what! He had that extra something special that most players don't ever have! He didn't care about scoring points.... he cared about winning the game.... no matter what!!!
Larry Bird played the game as a team player as well as an individual. He got his team involved, he's court awareness was beyond any NBA player. He could have taken all the shot but he didn't, He knew his team needed to get involved to win. Stats didn't take priority winning did and that meant his team needed to work as a team not one individual.
I got Larry…all day everyday!
The only things bron does better than Bird is dunk, flop, and take PED's.
And whatever opinions Jemelle Hill gives, just think the opposite, and you'll be correct.
As a rookie Larry took a 29 win team and won 61 games with just the addition of himself...He led the Cs to a ring in his second year in the league...He was top 3 in MVP voting for 9 years winning it 3 times in a row during that span. He was the best player in the league for a decade that had the Dream Team in it. Larry and MJ are the 2 best players I have ever seen. Larry had basketball skill and leadership from day one. Lebron was a gifted athlete and bullied his way to the hoop. He didn't start adding anything to his game until year 10. Lebron was a freak, a phenom while Larry relied on his skillset. He was just a better all-around basketball player. Also I have heard 100 stories about bird telling people where he was going to shoot it...Who does that? Larry was a demon, just a different kind of player...stuff you just cant teach or learn. To me that is the difference between great players and legendary ones. There are guys who are willing to take the last shot and then there are guys who were built to take that last shot
Larry Bird made a promise to Boston fans when signed as a rookie. He said he'll give a 100% every game as long as he plays. He did. To me, LeBron is an emotional player and I've seen him quit on the court in big money games. Larry Bird never did, even in a losing situation. You always felt you had a chance to win with him on the court.
Bron's not close to Larry.
Even 1v1, I'd choose Larry.
Larry Legend!
It’s not even close….
Lebron is amazing, I hate when people shit on him, but.. For all I've seen from both, Larry was just built different mentally. Lebron had the potential to surpass anyone else including MJ, but you can't be a natural born winner without the mamba mentality, you either have it or you don't. It's something that Bird had, Magic, Jordan, Kobe, Russell. Very few guys have that trait and they will always be above all others for that simple reason.
Mamba mentality?!....lol
Well said!
Killer instinct ...that next gear that most players don't have!!! call it whatever you want! LOL
Nice reaction. By the way, James Worthy was not wrong in trying to get over the top of the screen. Bird told Worthy that if he stayed with him he was going to get picked by McHale and then he would drive into the lane and do a floater. There's no right move here, if Larry gets the ball, its up to Larry whether he makes the shot, not the defender. So Worthy, like many other defenders, tried to stop the ball from ever getting to Larry's hands with a steal. Once it gets to Larry, its out of their control.
That's cuz Bird can get his shot off anywhere on the court!
Appreciate it twin🤝
If McHale wasn't playing with a broken foot....things might've been different! And I still can't believe Larry Bird missed that shot! Every time I see it... I swear it's going in .....everybody thought it was going in... except for the effing ball! 😠😠😠
One thing you have to think about Larry Bird is he took a last place team that had only won 20 games the year before he got there , he took the to 40 plus next year 60 plus who else made that big of a change in a team with one player ..
RJ said it best ... Larry Joe Bird fir the WIN!!!. I'm taking LJB over the other guy all day everyday
Bird 100% over Lebron
I like how people dismiss the 3 MVP's in a row...Labron never did that.
This is not meant to be a diss to Lebron. He is a great player. But, objectively looking at the skills of both, my conclusion is: Lebron is top tier scorer and assists for a small forward. Bird is top tier in shooting, passing, rebounding for a small forward and steals for a small forward. Also, Bird is usually in the conversation about great three point shooters. Bird is in the conversation about best clutch and killer mentality of all time. Lebron has no arguments in these. Both were team players, but Lebron was also a team destroyer. Birds all by himself when it comes to physical and mental toughness. I really cant see how you can call this any other way but for Bird.
Lebron is a great basketball player, but Bird is just on another level with his IQ and challenges.
You have all these great NBA players talking about how Bird would tell you what he was going to do before he did it, even at the biggest moments in a game, and then went out and did just what he said he would do and could not be stopped.
I don't see that about any other player in NBA history.
i hear you twin
Larry played against real men in the NBA. Magic, Kareem, Big game James, Moses, Dr. J, His Airness, Isiah, Rodman, Dumars, Olajuwon, Sampson, the human highlight film, Barkley, Ewing, the Mailman, Bernard King, and so many more.
We're a unit!
yeahhhh🤝
Responding to Jamelle Hill's comments - Im not even gonna tell you what i think. Im just gonna list the stats and you forge your own opinion.
Would bird be better than durant if he played today, with modern training and medicine? Lets see
Per game avgs
Pts : bird 24.3, KD 27.1
Rbd : bird 10.0, KD 7.1

Blk : bird 0.9, KD 1.1
Shooting
Fg% : bird 49.6, KD 50.1
3p% : bird 37.6, KD 38.6
Ft% : bird 88.6, KD 88.5

Rbd : bird 21, KD 17

Add to that Larry Bird didnt even know what a 3 point line was until his nba rookie year, and didn't start b-ball until high school. Imagine if he had been practicing since he was 7 or 8yo.
i hear you twin 🤝
Larry Bird was special. He'd get ejected in today's game for trash talking though lol. The NBA is way too soft today.
Knowing Bird ...he'd find a way somehow! 😂😂😂
i believe it
