  • We have had our Tesla Model X since June 2018 and ever since, it has had some blue jean transfer on the white leather (vegan leather.. or plastic) seats. I have tried everything to get it out!
    I asked my detailer, Eric, about getting it out and said he could get it out. I had my doubts but had him come see if he could do it and the results surprised me.
    Here is what he used:
    LVP
    shop.3dproducts.com/mobile/lv...
    Orange degreaser
    shop.3dproducts.com/mobile/or...
    70% Isopropyl alcohol (THIS is a key final process before putting on the Nurish to condition the leather)
    Nurish

    I hope you guys enjoy the video and it can be of help to some...

    Another great video Marc. (LOL on the hat! - you know that's going to be your "trademarc" now...) I also had blue jean stains on my P3D+ white on white. I keep a pack of baby wipes in the rear in between and behind the front seats. This is all I needed for removing the blue jean stains I had on mine so far. Normally I use Griots Garage products for exterior and interior. I'll have to check these out also. I'm curious what Eric thinks about UV protectants like 303 UV Protectant Spray for Vinyl (especially being in California with strong sun and heat).

    • @marc_benton
      @marc_benton  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, as long as you stay on top of it with baby wipes, there shouldn't be much of an issue for long term staining on the seats. But if you go maybe even a month without wiping them down, there will no doubt be blue jean transfer on the seat. I had my P3D seats ceramic coated and I went about 3 weeks before wiping them (this was only a few weeks ago) and it wiped right off...but I believe it was because the coating was protecting the seats from the stain settling in.
      Thanks for the comments, I do love my "Best Coast" hat! :)

    Marc, if you value Eric's work you may want to or blur his logos from the video. There is another company that uses the same logo and Eric might get in trouble using it as I'm sure it's trade marked. I would suggest that Eric use a graphics service to modify his logo to differentiate his logo from the other entity.

      Not sure why any of that matters. I wear jeans a lot and there we’re definitely blue jean dyes on my white seats. Not now. The Dawn really worked - they look brand new. My Tesla is 9 months old with 5,315 miles

    • @marc_benton
      @marc_benton  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeffrey Luna-Sparks trust me, it matters. If you wear blue jeans often and are only cleaning them with dawn then you WILL have blue jean transfer once you hit about 20k mikes (maybe even sooner) and it is will be VERY hard to get out. Think what you want but I know from experience and from many others that have experienced it. The only way to prevent it is to get them ceramic coated and wipe them down weekly.

    Just want to add... when I asked my detailer about getting the blue jean transfer out, he said “yes, I think we can get it out” but it was far from a sure thing. In this video, I tried the best I could to document the process but as condensed as I could (for time). He worked on it for about an hour (just the two front seats) so it takes time, the right chemicals (the isopropyl alcohol is key!) and tools (nylon brush). But it works!

      Andrew Allen You have to assume that synthetic/poly leather is cheaper than real leather. If you do a little research you will find that it is lighter, sun resistant and easier to clean than real leather. You will also find that because it is a plastic sprayed on fabric product that it is prone to cracking after long-term use.

      The black seats do not get hot like a black leather would. Here in Bakersfield, CA we have months of 110F+. When you initially sit you can feel the heat but it quickly dissipates. Leather retains the heat for a long time. In addition the the cabin overheat protection keeps the interior at 105F. Further more you can pre-condition the car from your phone and its not an issue at all!

      Darcy Kline go to the link in the description and read about the leather conditioner..... then it will make more sense.

    Vegan? Leather?
    Confusion.

    • @Hattonbank
      @Hattonbank 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THey call it vegan leather to fool perople into thinking that you are getting leather than does not come from an animal. but that is impossible.
      This product is Polyurethane, a totally oil based product, in simple terms, another form of plastic.
      Smooth marketing, that's all

    Why would one want to have to maintain their car seats like this? If you would have gotten a black interior, this effort would not be necessary.

      I guess you like dirty seats, huh? lol It doesn't matter what color your seats are, they get dirty and need to be cleaned... unless you're just filthy. :D
