I can’t think of a more engaging American President. I’m sure JFK was great, but maybe because I wasn’t alive during that era, I just don’t feel the same. I’m sure President Lincoln was incredible too. I wish he didn’t die just before voice recording became a normalized thing. I would love to be able to hear one of his speeches, or to just know what his voice sounded like. His era seems like so long ago, but when my grandparents were kids, there were still many people alive who were also alive when Lincoln was president. There are those who are actually proud of their ignorance and lack of education. My father was forced to quit school and go to work during the Great Depression. Not completing at least high school was one of the biggest disappointments in his life. He instilled in me a desire to get an education. Sadly, he died when I was 14. In his wallet was a clipping announcing I had made honor roll. I will never understand those who are willfully ignorant. I will never understand why they hate the educated.

Herschel is able to be so close because we are in a time where ignorance is celebrated. Common sense and intelligence is frowned upon now for some reason.
There are those who are actually proud of their ignorance and lack of education. My father was forced to quit school and go to work during the Great Depression. Not completing at least high school was one of the biggest disappointments in his life. He instilled in me a desire to get an education. Sadly, he died when I was 14. In his wallet was a clipping announcing I had made honor roll.
I will never understand those who are willfully ignorant. I will never understand why they hate the educated.
One of my biggest regrets is that I was still so mired in the GOP indoctrination that I was unable to appreciate just how cool Obama is, while he was president. This guy is a gem.

I may not have agreed with Obama on certain issues and some of you may not agree with him on several things, but I have to give him credit for his oratory prowess and charisma. He definitely has a way with words and he made me laugh so hard on this one.
