    Dream House, Italian House was always my favourite genre.

    I am a slut for muted guitar 1/8th note delay patches. The Wavestation midnight run patch also is a classic. Really great work with the ethereal pads. Also agree with using a vintage rack fx unit to flavor up a track.

    Damn as an Italian this brings me back to my childhood... At this point you just miss 90s lo-fi house and a PlayStation 2000s trance tutorial like Exodia 👀

    This is outstanding! That track sounded so good. For me the M1 is essential for that old school house sound. Ambient house or ambient jungle, sign me up captain.

    To me it's actually much easier to create sounds from scratch on M1 than on Triton VST. Everything is big and visible (not hidden in submenus), independent inserts for each part, in 'basic' menu you can visually adjust envelopes between two sounds; program dumps etc... Glad you finally introduced it in one of your videos :-)

    • @prodinuyasha

      triton is hell to navigate through, think its obvious M1 is easier to use. But the presets and certain features make Triton way better imo

    • @Thought-Forms

      For sure! The M1 was a bit of a simpler architecture overall, and the easy page is put together a bit better (to your point, being able to link and adjust 2 envelopes at once rules) They both rule and have their place!

    My favourite genre. I've found a lot of atmospheric music in the past year. The Welcome To Paradise vinyl series has some incredible tunes on it, as does the MBG record label. They've inspired me to make my own. I have an album coming out soon called Streets Of Paradise Vol. II which I think is my best work to date.

    • @Thought-Forms

      For sure! Have the digitals for both Welcome to Paradise comps, really all the quintessential tunes for the genre. Also been doing a lot of blind buys on cheap italian house records from the time period, hoping there are some gems. Would love to hear your album when it's done!

    17:10 have you tried goodhertz megaverb and the reverb in goodhertz lossy? to me they sound like of that era, but i don't have any direct experience with old effects units

    • @Thought-Forms

      I haven't - though have used some similar ones (Valhalla stuff, etc...) and don't get me wrong, they're great plugins that get close to emulating some of that old charm, but I still find something is slightly off on them

    • @FoxerTails

      @@Thought-Forms Honestly, for reverb, I've been using impulse response packs of effects gear from the time. Not sure if it stacks up to the real things, but I've curated a huge collection of many units captured like the Alesis Midiverb II, Eventide H3000, Lexicon 200, 224XL, 300, PCM70, Yamaha SPX90 II, SPX990, along with IR captures of the reverb presets on the Akai S1100 and E-MU E6400 samplers, and even some IRs of studio mixers like the T.C. Electronics M2000, M3000, and M5000.
      Might be worth looking into or at least trying out sometime.

    Very nicely done! :) What vocal sample is it at around 14:21? Where to get it? Mike Oldfield also used it in 1994.
    I have an M1 and 2x Triton and a Trinity physically at home, no 909 though, that's VST. :D

    Hey Thought-Forms, asking here instead of as a reply to your reply below (so it’s more likely you’ll see it), how come you can’t stand Ableton? I’m considering which one to get, that or Bitwig. Of course I can just get trials for both but I’m curious about the strong opinion.
    P.S. I’m currently using Reaper and «sound designing» with free VSTs/FX and getting dope sounds (imo) but those other DAWs look way better for that. I will say Bitwig looks more appealing than Ableton on an aesthetic level.

    • @Thought-Forms

      Sure! They're both great DAWs, cant go wrong with either. Navigating Ableton's UI feels cumbersome after using Bitwig. It's not a pleasant experience, always felt like i was battling their UI instead of making music. Middle mouse pan / zoom alone in Bitwig = god tier. best to trial both yourself though. these are the types of things that may not be issues for others. cheers!

    • @Vingul
      @Vingul

      @@Thought-Forms Cool, thanks for replying! Good to know what your objections are after seeing your other comment. I'll try both, cheers.

  • @RobRippa1

    How are you sending the tracks out to the boss effects unit ? With a mixer or directly to the unit ? just wondering how your getting in and out.

    • @Thought-Forms

      No hardware mixer. Have the Boss setup on an FX track as a send. Then on each track I can send the signal to the FX track with the Boss. The FX track then has what Bitwig calls an "FX Instrument" that feeds audio out from my audio interface directly into the Boss unit. The output from the Boss unit is fed directly back into my DAW

    Does anyone know how to do a similar shuffle thing (or swing) in Ableton? Is the only way to use the groove bank?

    • @Thought-Forms

      I'll let an Ableton guru correct me if wrong, but I think its called "groove pool" in Ableton, then you should able to to apply different grooves from the groove pool to different midi clips

    • @datapusher-

      Correct. On the midi track, under the clip section you have "grooves". If you click on the refresh icon, you can select many different types of shuffles or swing grooves. That will also tell you what groove is applied to your midi track. There is also wave icon under the left hand explorer pane (next to the headphone icon) that will open your groove pool to add your own selection of grooves. You can also drag a groove from the browser pane "groove" section right onto your midi track. I personally like all the SP1200 groove presets.
