You can tell how skilled of musicians M. Shadows and Synyster Gates are because of how they didn't just show off the whole time. They could have easily stolen the show, but they adapted to the genre and the band and killed it with simplicity, especially on Syn's part. He could've just swept arpeggios that whole time, but he just gave a simple, melodic solo.
+CallsignSlate - Many of Syn's solos with A7X are melodic, even some of the more technical ones. He usually doesn't just try to show off (for example sweeping during a ballad would be showing off), and he just does what fits the song the best.

I remember back when Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous was just worn out on the radio being two or three times on the way to school and on the way back from school everyday for over a couple of months I'm pretty sure and that's being very lenient with the time! I never understood why this song didn't get no where near that much airtime it was way better, and it was cool of Matt and Synyster to help out by being in the song because they had already started getting quite a bit of recognition by that time along with the fact that they made that song what it was with their parts without taking all the shine away from GC which earns them more respect from me!

I've listened to this song probably 500 times over the years, and I've honestly never once finished it without scrolling back to 1:20 for that nasty bass and Daddy Shadows splitting the atoms of a molecule with that nuclear voice of his. This song is so iconic.

People in the comments are hating towards Synyster Gates' solo at the end of the song, it is a pop-punk song. Good Charlotte is a pop-punk band and the pacing is way different from a normal Avenged Sevenfold song. He couldn't just rip open a face melter and it just fit in with the song. Dude, I remember being like 12 and trying to do a raspy voice singing shadows part, and in 2011 I got to know Avenged fucking Sevenfold and fell in love with music and that band again. Good Charlotte is a pop-punk band and the pacing is way different from a normal Avenged Sevenfold song. He couldn't just rip open a face melter and it just fit in with the song. For anybody wondering: This song isn't about Christianity or religion at all. It's just using it as a metaphor. The song is about living in L.A. trying to make it big in the industry and how it's not always as great and glamorized as it looks but once you're in, it's tough to get out.
