Mk3 Golf VR6 Rear Disc and bearing removal (part one)

  • Here is a video of one of my cars that I am working on. It shows the rear brake disc and bearing being removed on a Mk3 golf VR6. This is not a "how to" video, this is purely for entertainment purposes. It does however show parts of the car that is not easy to see so I hope it helps others get an understanding on parts.

    4:40 man that bolt is hard to get out, feel like I'm gonna break it, had to watch this to make sure it was supposed to even come out haha

    How do you remove the four bolts holding the unit in at the end

      I am not sure as i haven't gone that far. I'm guessing your meaning the stub shaft. The bolts on mine are very badly corroded and would probably round or just fall to pieces when attempting. If this happened I would try to drill them out of grind the heads off. If they are ok a simple socket should undo them fine. But a 6 point socket or spanner and plenty of penetrating oil first. Hope that helps!!
