I am a parent. I completely freaked when I saw the size of the fishing hole in the ice house tent. I remind myself that you and Mav must have lived because you edited the video and posted it. Many kudos to your parents for letting you live your life and have adventures without bogging you down with their worries.

YES, you should leave some snow. It insulates the ice and prevents flooding.
You should try putting your heater on a milk crate to keep it off the floor. That’s helped me with less water under my mats this winter Ice camping

If you leave a layer of snow under the house it’s an added layer of insulation between you and the ice so it definitely helps keep it from getting super wet!
