    Word of advice for beginners: try to limit the number of effect you apply to your raw audio file as much as possible. It may look fancy but with mose voices, they ruin the recording. Instead, try to record in the quietest environment you can, that way you'll get the best file to edit. There's really no alternative for this. Also, experiment with the bass and treble but there's a good chance that it might not be good for your voice.

    You get better results if you do the noise reduction as your first step

    • @dyxonelgeniomusical5864
      @dyxonelgeniomusical5864 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      If you normalize the audio the noise get more level again.
      Do it at final step. Try it

    • @Lucky_clover_8
      @Lucky_clover_8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you sure that it's better to do noise reduction as first step? Someone else agree on this?

    • @Station9.75
      @Station9.75 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I do compressor, then noise reduction then normalise.
      If I do noise reduction first it just comes back with the compressor.

    Great video! The only thing I might suggest is to do the noise reduction as one of the first steps so you aren't amplifying it through the chain and potentially causing more distortion. Get rid of it early and then adjust your vocals for a cleaner overall output.

    Thanks for the informative video! I don't know if anyone's said this yet or if you've already found this out, but when adjusting the sliders like at 4:05 if you left click the slider you can then use the arrow keys to make the minimal calibration movements, like when trying to get to 1.80 instead of 1.79. Thanks again!

    The only complaint I have with this tutorial is the project sample rating you mentioned at the start of the video. If you have the newest Audacity version... project sample rates will not be displayed on the starting screen. You have to go to the Edit tab on the top, move down to the prefences tab, then inside the Audio Settings Tab look for something called Quality and then look at project Sample Rate, then change your stuff there.
    Aside from that I love this video and its simple and straight forward tutorial :)

    The most important setting which should be used at the very end is Loudness Normalisation.. If your audio is too low Y. T. will not increase it. However if its too high they will decrease it to their levels which is around -14 dB.. This can be easily checked while video is playing by right clicking and going into stats for nerds on YT. (third column down)... You could have all the above settings done with the audio loud but when you upload to Y. T. They will decrease the volume.. The same goes for other social media sites.

    What is your insite or reasoning for recording vocals in stereo. I used to do my music vocals in stereo but have switched to mono after being suggested to do so by pros. I have also had pros that say stereo should be used. I honestly dont know if i can tell the difference. Should i go back to stereo for vocal tracks and not just musical tracks n stems? 😫 Anyone have some insight with clear reasoning for me? Thanks in advance n have a wonderful day.

    • @BizarreVA
      @BizarreVA  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It really depends on what your audio is being used for. Are you recording straight dialogue with no backing tracks such as background music or sound effects? Mono is the way to go. Expecting to add in other sound/vocal files to your track? Stereo is the one to use. For my audios I typically add in music or sfx, so I usually record in Stereo. But for my narration gigs, I always use Mono.

    Why did you use compression on the audio track when simply adjusting the amplification would suffice and it would also maintain the dynamic range of the audio? Compressing the track actually distorts it causing it to lose dynamic range.

    It was a great tutorial! It was a little difficult at first, with the issue of the rate in the beginning. But I found it the other way around and it's good. Audacity isn't a bad app/software but you make it easy. However, did you have to set these settings every time you do a podcast? Another thing is how do I know what type of mic I'm using? I have a snowball and don't know if it uses the internal mic on my PC. Thanx!

    • @BizarreVA
      @BizarreVA  ปีที่แล้ว

      I also mainly use a snowball, so as far as mic go we should be about the same. Also, check out the pinned link that has a video showing how you don't have to follow these steps every single time
