I'm a professional designer and work with global organizations. And this was still insanely useful. You put into words many of the design choices for which I have traditionally relied on instinct and trial and error. Thank you!! I'm hoping this will help me articulate my designs better to clients and the designers working under me. 👏👏👏

An absolutely fabulous video, everything in a nice, neat and concise package...
As it happens, just what I was looking for, as I have been noticing, with getting a little more experienced in graphic design, some of my designs were just looking a little bit 'off', even after several drafts to the finished artwork, there has been a little niggle with me, that the design could be improved, but I just couldn't quite put my finger on the solution.
This video has definitely shown me a couple of areas that I know will certainly improve and balance my layouts and overall finished design, when applied.
So thanks for this tutorial/overview, it will prove very useful....More like this please.

I haven't really had imposter syndrome full on. But like most people I did doubt myself a bit, especially when I saw what other people were making. But that's just part of the design world. Instead of getting jealous of other peoples good work, analyse it and see why it's functional and why it 'works'.

Thanks really interesting. Good to see somebody actually mention theory instead of mmmmmmDesignThinking.
    There are a few errors:
    * 13:08 should say Passive space
    * 15:16 you don't discuss them in that order
Also I'm a bit confused about Visual Tension. You define it as misplacing the elements as to create unease as if its a bad thing to be corrected but I think you intended to speak of visual tension as a theory (so the intended use of visual tension).

5:24 I've been struggling with my designs lately and question what I got wrong? I started to look up videos and realize that I actually learned the principles and elements in school but I don't use them correctly or put too much logic into it in the field. Designers are often pushed to create works that are fast, but we aren't taught how to be efficient, or to think about the context

But a question: in other video I heard that veritcal lines (in logo building) represents aggressivity! Does is it true?

1:47 I didn't like the terminology, it's more common to call the outside as "Margin" and the inside as "Padding". Unless I misunderstood the entire picture there.
Also, I would have liked to see a deeper dive on the size of the area. Like Mobile and Desktop, you would need to design two similar layouts but with two completely different feels.

Next level Content, I will suggest to make this type of long videos into short ones to make the content easy to digest and practice. Thank you satori

It can apply to any canvas. The human eye will still navigate around it 👍

Know who your customers are. As an industrial designer I would never do a fancy artsy design composition of a product design if my customer is an engineering based customer.
Inversely I would never do a graphic design artwork that looks stoic and straight to the point to an artistic based company. The way the message is conveyed to the targeted customer is critical. Thus know who your customers are.
