"You immerse yourself as if you were the artist". As a decades-long multi instrumentalist musician and composer and songwriter and plenty of time spent in recording studios and playing live, and a massive love of all kinds of music from all different times, what you just said there is so crucial to the way I think about things as a musician, especially in terms of playing but also understanding arrangement and composition and execution and all of it. I think as a music listener, when you can do that, it profoundly changes the way that you experience music and puts you very close to what it's like to be a musician playing that song. And I also believe that we are all musicians on some level, and that in fact is what we have collectively had for a very long time, possibly even before language. But that's a whole other story, lol.
I agree about all humans have some music abilities in one way or another. It's in our species' DNA. Music is the universal language and humans have been creating and playing it for several thousands of years. And that isn't even including our close hominoid ancestors.
Randy Rhodes was guitarist on Ozzy's first two albums. Brad Gillis of Night Ranger filled in after Randy's tragic plane crash. Brad played on the live album Speak of the Devil. Before Jake E Lee took over the duties.
Man that's a great song. I always forget. The guitar fills and riffa during the verses are even better than the solo. That guy was ridiculous. Ozzy knew how to surround himself with good musicians.
I love all kinds of music but I was a huge Black Sabbath fan in Junior High and high school, and then this came out later in high school and I heard it on the radio for the first time and fell in love with that riff immediately. I raced out and bought the record album, and started learning that riff and the subsequent rhythm guitar part in it, and his voice just captures all the emotions to those really intense lyrics but he also turns it into a party song. I saw him in high school on that tour and it was fantastic, the Blizzard of Oz. He had like if you're at a play on a stage or something, and he had a whole set of this icy haunted mansion, and he came down the stairs at some point, down onto the stage, and lots of dry ice fog rolling down and all of that, and a great light show, and it was loud as hell, lol. That was a good one. 😊
Ozzy took looks into consideration for who he hired. It's one of the reasons Jake e Lee 's time was so short. And Randy ruled, but he did have teased hair and that polkadot, twinky style.
That's what I thought to but thought maybe i just missed hearing the 2th verse this video went straight to 3th verse after solo! 1st verse then 2th then Randy solo then 3th verse! What happen to Iv'e listen to preachers, Iv'e listen to fool. Iv'e worship the drop outs who make there own rules?
There is a problem with this video. It has a 2nd verse which is missing. And this is the late great Randy Rhoads doing that brilliant guitar work. No, this is not glam rock. Straight up medal.
Glam metal?! That is NOT the genre. Just no. This song is the secret family anthem between my cousins and me 😂 we still play it when we get in the car away from the whole family every holiday. But you definitely need a do over with the full real song and get your facts straight. Saw him live back in the days well before they got the reality show. So many misconceptions about early Ozzy. Plus he was a showman live, in a very ironic way. Iconic. RIP Randy.
Once again an epic fail on the reactors part of not observing the length of the song is 90 seconds less than the studio version. I've suggested till i'm blue in the face on many channels - plz look at the official recording length and not use fan made videos with radio edits. Missing the entire second verse and additional chorus and music interlude. smh
It's about living in the 80's during the Cold War with the loom of nuclear war over our heads. Whatever you are watching sucks. Go listen to the REAL version.
So much of metal is posturing as a scary badass or a glamorous sex god. Ozzy is neither. He's just his own awkward, complicated, earnest self, which is why people love him.

This is Randy Rhoads on the record, not Greg Leon!!

Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osborne were thought to be devil Worshippers but listen to the lyrics they are profound
Anything off the live album entitled , Ozzy Osbourne's Tribute To Randy Rhoades. Anything. Randy shined like a Supernova live.
Trick Daddy used the whole beginning of this for his song Let's Go
OVER THE MOUNTAIN.
Mr. Crowley(live) next please. Then Flying High Again, then Diary Of A Madman. Happy Halloween Season 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Glam metal?! I've never heard this referred to as glam metal 😂😂
Straight up Rock 😂
@@RockinMamaT Seems like something Randy would find offensive 🤣

The guitarist is Randy Rhoads
Greg Leon? What? Who? What???.
The guitar was played by the brilliant Randy Rhoads.
The original official music video is important.

No randy roades is the guitarist that died
Missing 2nd verse redo the review

Not to mention it’s the most poignant verse for current times “One man conditioned to rule and control. The media sells it, and you play the role”
The prince of darkness is all about peace and love.
want to see Randy Rhodes watch the Mr Crowley video

You got stuck with a shortened version that leaves out other good lyrics
Youve heard Iron Man from the movies
This solo is all randy and the riff was improvised on the spot at his audition
I hope you get to check out some Judas Priest.
1980
Not the full version! 🤦🏻♂️
This left out the entire second verse.
Video is missing a verse.😅😅

That's not the whole song? Weird? You need to react again to the WHOLE song
