I started fasting 14 days ago. Most days 18/6 other days hours vary. !'m a 68 year old woman and I did a protein based diet last year and it took 11 months to lose 5 kilos, which have all come back. I have now lost 2 kilos in 2 weeks. Normally when I sweep the patio I struggle and feel I have no strength, this morning it wasn't an issue. I will never going back to eating 3 meals a day. Fasting has also stopped the snacking which I normally found very difficult. I love it.

Inflammation gone, mental clarity and mood way up, energetic and alive!!! Its good to have available different versions of fasting from different sources as everyone is inspired in a different way. Im 59 and 8 years post menopause. I developed type 2 diabetes and a heart condition with 2 stents while menopausal. I lost my mother in January 2020 and was living in a nightmare mentally and physically up to last August and with the doctor wanting me to go on insulin i decided i had to fight for myself or i would either die a long slow horrendous death like my mother who had been given all the wrong advice of eat little and often plus take the meds or i was going to commit suicide. So i decided to fight and my husband did a lot of online research due to the fact i couldn't with brain fog and lack of concentration. He discovered intermittent fasting and keto by Dr jason fung and everything cliicked into place. I reversed my diabetes in 3 months starting 16/8 fasting and now doing 18/6 along with the keto plan, so now listening to your advice i might push for the 20/4 as im finding the last 14lb hard to shift. I have lost 28lb, reversed my diabetes, lowered my cholesterol and BP. I have no brain fogs and a fairly flat stomach which i never had before (my vanity loves that lol) . I couldn't recommend this way of life more ❤

I started doing this back when Sara Solomon brought it to the forefront. She caught a lot of flack from the body building community for it. Now it' all anyone talks about. I do find it very hard to get the protein and nutrients that I need in in a 4 hour window because I fill up so easily. I have found that 6 hours is my magic number. I also get very cold after 18 hours. My hands are like ice. It's strange but I love fasting. I also like to switch it up with one day a week not fast at all. I'm so much more alert when fasted. It's also nice to not think about food for 18 hours.

Hi Dy Ann, i used to fast for 10 years prior to menopause and had very good results until i moved homes just before covid. 2 year ago, i started to gain alot of weight and started to work with a well known coach in the keto and carnivore space. She was very against fasting . Said it will jack up my sex hormones. She advised me to eat I every 3 hours with very high fat every 3 hours. The weight piled on and i believe I was becoming more insulin resistant as time went on and as a result, ive got all this weight and Neuropathy that i cant loose in menopause.. Im still in menopause and did have a slight cortisol issue with stressful things that happened to me but im ready to jump back in. I kick it off with a 20 hour fast tomorrow. I've done this many seasons over the years and i totally get the benefits of a 20 hour fast, but what seems to be overlooked is the feasting. As women over 50 i find many do not eat enough protein! How to get at least 100 grams of protein in the four hours without stuffing one self. Also, there is no way to get even two 'Hits' of muscle protein synthesis in that four hours. So that means one time of MPS and over time possible not enough protein as a whole.
Again, I ADORE the fasting part, i just struggle to get the feasting part right. 🤷‍♀️ And what is every one else doing for the feasting part?

I’ve been fasting 19-20/4-5 for about a year, and I’ve lost 30 pounds. I love eating this way, and I’d never go back! I have 20 pounds to go. I started out a few months before that doing 16/8, and I would really advise easing into it, rather than trying to fast for 20 hours to start.
I don’t have a family to eat dinner with, so I eat in the morning, from 10 to 2 or 3. That just works best for me- I’m hungry when I wake up, but I can easily go without eating the rest of the day, and then sleep through the last 8 hours.
Just a note, in case this helps someone- I sailed through menopause with ZERO symptoms- NONE- and I think it was because I was eating a primal/paleo diet at the time. I think a low carb diet made the difference. I never had a hot flash.

Ohhh gosh, this is so refreshing to hear. A little history about me....been an avid faster for years, mainly OMAD. At 49 everything changed. Hormones out of control, body aches, flushes, mood swings, no motivation to exercise or even fast....but let me tell you....I LOVE fasting...but when I began to read about premenopause and fasting and the dangers I was so confused I ended up doing nothing. Sorry to compare....but I read Dr Mindys fast like a girl...by the time I finished I was pumped up, then I remembered all the different food intake, diff fasting times during different stages of menstrual cycle and then It all just seemed so overwhelming that I ended up doing nothing. And then ADF was pushed alot which i hate!..This 20 hr is perfect for me (i miss Omad) and now I know its safe to do during premenopause....im going back to that!!!!...once my body gets used to fasting again I'll chuck in 36hr fast maybe once a month but now I don't feel pressured. I just want to say if fasting doesn't work for you that you are not alone. Mind you, I've always had adrenal issues so that is probably why. I gained weight with IF, even in a caloric deficit and exercising, my belly especially. Then I read how it can cause cortisol issues and I went back to my 5 or 6 mini meals per day. Weight is finally coming off. I have to eat low fat or my lymph system gets VERY clogged and I combine complex carbs with protein. If you don't get results with IF don't feel like a failure- I know several other women in menopause that had similar results. Bodies are different- listen to yours.

I’m about to try this 20/4 fast. How many days in a row can you do this 20/4 fast? I also don’t understand the calmness. I’m interested to see if my focus will get better. I just turned 60 and I’m seeing adhd symptoms especially with focus. Is there any supplements you can recommend? Also, does the supplements break the fast? Or should I take them during the 4 hour window? Thank you for this video!

When I'm doing the 20:4 IF, during my 4-hour feasting window, I eat whole foods, like chicken, tuna, eggs, hamburgers, turkey and lots of veggies and some berries.
Mainly, I focus on eating a whole foods diet with occasional treats, in a caloric deficit, for weight loss. I also drink a lot of water!

I was totally shocked by this bc of the mountains of videos from people stating how much it has helped them. For me personally, IF has not helped me to lose weight or gain energy. Been fasting for years but for women not recommended to fast in the morning. Research shows it lessens life span, specifically fasting in morning not eating breakfast. Doing omad or one meal a day can also get your body use to those calories and then when you eat more you will gain. Your body gets used to it. You need to switch it up. Also if you get your period never fast week before and make sure you’re getting atleast 1500 calories per day, just some info I’ve gained over the years. Do your own research! It’s complex, should only really follow experts like dr berg, dr fung, dr mindy etc. also up to 50 calories only breaks your fast for an hour so it’s not that serious to add a little cream or fats in your coffee

Hi, I’ve tried it 2 years ago, and please do this with a doctor, I’m 52 and Im ménopause, i gain 9kg. So I started fasting, and it worked, lost 3kg, the first month, so I kept going.. but it gave me so much stomach issues, like acid reflux, bloating inflammation ect… food disorders, anxiety came with it. Didn’t go out with my friends anymore. I had to stop exercising and fasting doctor orders, it took me a while to go back to a normal diet. Now I eat 3 meals and I eat everything walk everyday one hour. And I’m now 52 kg, I lost 7 kg. Today I go to restaurant with friends, go out, eat normally and mentally reborn , I’m feeling good and healthy again. I would suggest to see a doctor before starting, fasting specially if you’re in menopause, our body doesn’t respond the same. Remember always stay healthy mind and soul 💯💕
