    I disagree with your thoughts on religion. But I can’t say your wrong and I’m right. Neither of us knows the mind of God. And I’m ok with that, as it seems you are too. That being said I’ll continue to hear your perspective and use it to think and evolve my own understanding and perspective on my own religion. I think that’s healthy and important. People will probably hate on this video because of what you say, but if a stranger on TH-cam has that much affect on your beliefs then there are some questions that need to be asked internally.

      My "opinion" is based on scripture. Leviticus 20:13 says "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." Unless there were a scripture that specifically said "God no longer considers two men together a sin" then I might relax my belief that it is a sin. There is no such scripture. Therefore, I believe it would be very difficult for anyone to carry the belief that God approves of it without looking somewhat silly. Sadly, most Christians choose to look silly and place their promised paradise in extreme jeopardy.

      @@kennymcaloon1457 Well so I guess murder is ok now too since that’s “old” news. So interesting to me how folks can take extreme liberty to decide which laws are still in effect today. Matthew 5:17 makes clear “Do not think I have come to abolish the laws, I have come to fulfill them.”

    • @kennymcaloon1457
      @kennymcaloon1457 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I’d like to start by noting that you quoted “opinion” though I never mentioned it in my original comment. And if you are implying that because you chose scripture to support your argument that now your argument is factual, then it would imply that you to believe scripture is fact. Also I am curious as to how my (or any Christian who doesn’t condemn homosexuals) salvation is put into jeopardy specifically. For starters I am not homosexual myself so what sin have I committed in that regard. In fact it would be more frowned upon in the eyes of the lord for me being unforgiving towards my neighbors. Plenty of scripture to support the specific instructions to forgive one another but I’ll just go with Mathew 6: 14-15 “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”.
      We could have the scripture argument all day and cite our sources and seem intellectual, but the truth of the matter is you’d be quoting from one half of the book and I would be quoting from the other. So to really dive deep into who’s right or who’s wrong when we are both using conflicting scriptures we’d have to think about why the good book is separated into two testaments, and what the meaning behind the very specific formatting is. And that still probably wouldn’t solve the problem, we’d just argue for thousands of years and become two warring TH-cam nations and ultimately get no further convincing the other to abandon their own beliefs for our own.

      @@kennymcaloon1457 As a Christian, you should want everyone to obtain the gift of eternal life. If you won't bring to their attention that their lifestyle is putting them in jeopardy, then you are not helping. Merely accepting sin and being able to forgive folks for it does nothing to help their actual souls. I use scripture with Christians because they believe it, not because I do. You can exchange the sin of homosexuality with the sin of murder to help bring this into context for you. If you knew a serial killer that believed it was ok to kill because the command to not kill was in the old testament, would you allow him the freedom of such a belief and not recommend he change his ways? Of course you wouldn't. Doing this with any other sin is really the same. To tell a homosexual that they are righteous now in they eyes of God would be taking extreme liberty and certainly be in conflict with what is written. Why on earth, it isn't best practice to err on the side of caution when gambling with eternity is beyond me. It is far more probable that God still condemns it and views it as an abomination than that He now sees it as a glorious act of love. There is no such sin that was once considered an abomination punishable by death that today is considered holy. To say anything other than that is really pushing the envelope and risking reaching the level of preaching a false religion.

    • @kennymcaloon1457
      @kennymcaloon1457 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I wouldn’t personally argue that homosexuality is holy or righteous. But I would argue it’s less severe a sin than murder and even less severe the adultery, strictly because those are in the Ten Commandments. Modern societies views on sex as a whole is pretty damn unholy in general lol. Sins I myself have committed as well as I am not married. But we can look far beyond just sexual sins and see that most of us probably sin multiple times daily. My question would be what sins are forgivable and what aren’t. Am I the one who should tell people what they will and won’t be forgiven for? And am I the one who determines who and who doesn’t get the gift of eternal life?
      And you’re right on how it is ridiculous for us to pick and chose which sins are exempt because they are in the Old Testament. But I think even you would agree that some of them seemingly weren’t meant to last. And some are even contradicted in the New Testament.
      But again my soul may be damned to. As I grew older and learned just how much church has become a business I very much strayed away. My relationship with God may have grown stronger because of it, as I had to seek his word myself and actually read the material and not listen to sermons. That being said because I’ve read I know that I should be going to church and tithing to it, but I don’t because I believe the funds go into pockets and not to places as they are intended. I sin in other ways as well, but that a very conscious sin I have. So I am very much betting on forgiveness there. And with any bet you have to be able to accept either outcome. But even if I’m rejected from the pearly gates I’ll still be happy knowing that I lived life loving God and trying to be the best man I could be. To err on the side of caution would be the smartest thing to do, but I think there is an inherent risk in faith.

    Religion and its scriptures from holy text are all up for interpretation by the individual. Just cause something is written does not mean one has to take it as absolute. The book was written over 2000 years ago, no one can expect to live and learn to how it was written that long ago. Otherwise one delves into extremist thought and also becomes a mindless drone who will not think for themselves and just takes the word to the T of whoever and whatever one says. There are many reasons why Christianity is on a ever steeper decline more than ever, but this is another one. Im glad i left years ago cause its such a mess of a religion.

Have you read and studied the core teachings in any detail such as the book of Romans or Ephesians? hi I'm a christ follower and i usually don't dawn on this topic since it doesn't really involve me but i do completely understand how being gay could be a sin but the one thing that confuses me is the how ive known people since childhood that have always been different/feminine before we even knew what being gay was so i feel like they don't choose to "be" that. I respect your opinion i'm just genuinely curious of your thoughts on this!

    • @ASMRReality
      @ASMRReality  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not a believer so I believe these people truly are gay. They are different than the rest of us. The problem comes when they try to start following a religion that tells them their lifestyle is an abomination, yet they ignore that part and feel like they will reap the same rewards as those that are following the scriptures. This is the issue I have. I am not hating on gay people, I am simply trying to tell them they should pick a different religion because Christianity states clearly their lifestyle will lead to hell. Likewise, the Christians that are telling gay people that God now accepts them and approves of their lifestyle choice are preaching a blasphemous version of Christianity and are jeopardizing their own eternity according to the scriptures. If you believe in Christ, you should follow that book completely in order not to jeopardize your future eternity. That is the message I was trying to send.

    Thanks for your videos. I agree with much of what you say, and I am inspired by your work ethic, discipline, and sense of order. Fun fact I believe we share the same Birthday.
    In terms of religion, it seems to me that we often try to believe or not believe in God like we believe or don’t believe that our friend went to the store, or any other piece of historical information. I believe there are other, more true ways of believing in God.
    To me, faith is about feeling the limits of my ability to understand things in a rational way. We are all driven by deep currents of emotion, instinct and reaction. To me, faith is the conscious choice and consistent practice of affirming and moving towards Goodness and the conception of our eternal source as a/the perfectly whole, wise, Good and Beautiful. We know most clearly how to relate to others and to ourselves, and so I conceptualize a relationship with God as a paradoxical combination of a relationship with myself, and with a separate perfect being (or beings? That may unify as the whole).
    I view faith as the humility to recognize that whatever we believe we are at least partially choosing to believe it. We are likely but fish swimming in a vast sea of reality, of which we can perceive only an infinitesimal fraction; or perhaps we generate an entirely subjective perspective which is also paradoxically related to the whole.
    If we must accept our effectively infinite limitation, then the question becomes: what direction do I wish to pursue? I wish to pursue the direction of awe and gratitude for the universe, while maintaining the realization of my limitation. To me, that is part of what faith means. We don’t have to know exactly, in order to sense a direction.
    To me, it seems that you feel deeply and intelligently. I suggest that you follow your feeling of what is right, and find your own relationship with the divine. Scriptures are surely deeply valuable, but they were likely written by other people who also felt a deep connection with the divine. There are many valuable scriptures and some are likely more true than others, but ultimately I believe in this moment that they are guides and paths to aide us in living lives of Faith, Strength, Love, service, purpose, and humility. It seems to me that you are already doing that in many ways, and that as you connect more deeply to yourself your relationship with God, the divine, the eternal, will naturally deepen.
    With Respect,
    Zachariah

      I relate so well to what you wrote here. You ethos is very similar to how I live. I also find positive attributes to some scripture and certainly do not discount all of it as lunacy. Quite the contrary. I believe there is good to be found in all religions. I just long for a way to unify humanity under one belief system and know that so long as we hold these books as the actual authored word of God, that will never happen.

    • @YuTubeAccount4
      @YuTubeAccount4 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ASMRReality That’s a really interesting perspective. What kind of belief system do you feel would be good for all of humanity? Would it be a new religion? Or a scientific materialist view? In some sense I think Science has become its own religion with its own high priests and cosmic mythologies.
      I feel we need shared stories to help us connect to each other, build communities, and relate to the past and future. I wonder how the old stories could evolve into new ones that might unite more of the world? Whatever the direction, I feel that a collective sense of humility and an awareness of our own limitations should be at its core.

    • @ASMRReality
      @ASMRReality  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I certainly agree that the stories have value. I am certainly not claiming to have the answer but I think humans have a logical moral code. This might have come from a designer or it may just be evolutional. The fact is, we all feel it and it surprisingly is very similar along cultural and religious differences. Most societies and humans believe murder is wrong and stealing is wrong. However we do reach gray areas like with abortion and the like. In these instances a more comprehensive compromise is the logical ideal for finding common ground. An example would be...ok abortions can be legal but only until such time the fetus has a heart beat. Since our life is symbolized and recognized with a beating heart it only stands to reason that a beating heart should symbolize life and thus make it inappropriate to eliminate. The division and confusion that our religious differences cause are only going to be repairable when we find a common belief to live within. We can keep the stories, just as we have kept The Iliad and Poseidon. Eventually the Quran and the Bible will find their place on the fiction shelf but we can still refer to the stories and work to find meaning in what our ancient ancestors endured as desert goat herders.

Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

    I really like your ASMR & I stay for the sounds, but it’s getting kind of exhausting hearing you condemn christianity so much. If you don’t like it, don’t be christian. You seem a bit obsessed with hating on it. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you. I come here to relax, not to hear any negativity or hate for anyone or anything.
