Great overall video. I'm a prospective buyer in TN and this had a lot of great information about the bike that I wouldn't expect a salesperson on the floor to go through in person. Great bike and great presentation. Thanks!
I just got a 2017 CVO Ultra. I have noticed with the hyd clutch, you need to pull the clutch, hold it a few seconds before going into first gear and it shifts with zero clunk. If you pull in the clutch and immediately go into first, you will get the clunk. Just something I have noticed on these bikes.
Very very comprehensive video. Never can have too much information. I’ve had my bike for months and didn’t notice the Information switch on the toggle. . Still relevant and helpful in 2019!
Excellent video, It's been about 12 years since I've had a bike and I pick up my 2015 Ultra Limited next week. I'm so excited I'm about to piss my pants. I will watch this video a couple more times before then. Great job.
Thank you for this video, I bought a 2015 ultra classic today (would have bought from you, but I am in Wi), this video was way more helpful than any thing else that I have seen!
Thank you for putting together this video. Just picked up my Ultra Classic last night and knew I had some learning to do. Your overview was extremely helpful in getting me started. Well done brother
great video on the boom box, presented very well. You hit all types of learners, those that learn visually, verbally and hands on. Answered all the questions that I had. Will definitely keep for refresher course if needed.
Outstanding video. You present well, and cover all the major portions of the bike that a new owner would like info on. Just picked mine up today from Bellmore, NY HD. Marylu, I love the bike!
Pretty old vid now, bit since I own this bike, I was just putts'n around on TH-cam. The hazards will turn off and on also if you push both turn signals at the sane time fyi. But I did forget a couple features you reminded me of. So thanks. 😂 I do like this bike alot. The liquid cooling and EITMS feature is cool. No pun intended. Burnt up a cylinder in another bike in very hot weather, stop and go construction zone traffic. It chugga chugged fir a while after, but one cylinder was SHOT!! This bike will not have that issue. Its a 103 which has a lot of nay sayers. But I have not had any issues. I am not super hard on it. I have fun yes, but the 107 and 114 I have seen others have probs. Bitched about having to swap fir a 103...they did change their minds about dependability.
I can’t seem to get my MSM text messages to work on the screen. My iPhone is paired but when I go to COM and try to enable text messages the screen won’t highlight to turn it on. Just a dead screen. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to set something up from my phone to enable it? Thanks.
2021 still watching videos and other knowledgeable information on my 2014 ultra tri-glide.thank you.i am throwing out.enter PIN# code when i go to ride. After a battery change...any advice would be appreciated.thank you.
Incorrectly, he mentions several times that a Bluetooth headset can be used in place of the included wired headset. This is NOT true. You must use the wired headset, no Bluetooth headset is supported. Bluetooth is used to pair a phone for telephone and music playback but you MUST use the included wired headset.
The only thing he didn't cover was the FATALLY FLAWED, TWIN CAM ENGINE, design itself. He didn't talk about why this bike had to be liquid cooled, which is anathema to a Harley purist. The answer is that TWIN CAM engines, run extremely, hot, because the stock oil pump is inadequate, and only pumps out 3-8 psi, at idle, almost no oil pressure. Notice that even with two radiators, (Metric bikes only need one for their V Twin Engines), this bike has a large plastic heat shield over the rear cylinder, so, despite the two radiators, it's is still a heat machine. Heat is an engines worst enemy. He didn't tell you that this bike is equipped with a shut off sensor to turn off the rear cylinder when it is at idle, to cut down on the heat produced by this engine. Imagine you buy a Harley for that great Harley sound, and when you come to a red light, the rear cylinder shuts down. What's wrong with that picture. Don't think about dropping this bike on either side, cause you will be buying a new radiator and electric pump on a high side (right) drop and a radiator and a thermostat on a low side (left) drop. Metric bikes place their radiators in the center of the down tubes, and it dropped on either side, no need to replace a radiator. Remember, this is about a thousand pound bike cause of all the plumbing that runs under the fuel tank to cool the cylinders, and all the liquid coolant is has to carry, which adds to the weight of the bike and thus, less gas mileage. He did not talk about the pressed together flywheel that WILL come out of true, sooner, rather, than later on this bike, and will start to increase engine vibration as it comes out of true, meaning the primary and pinion shaft end run out will start to exceed 0.001" of max run out as it wobbles, more and more out of true and as it exceeds 0.003' and more, more and more damage occurs to all the bushings and bearings, and eventually and to late, IMMEDIATE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE WILL OCCUR. Unlike all previous, single cam Harley engines, which came before it, and all the flywheels, were, held in true by a crank pin bolt and nut, the TWIN CAM engine, flywheel is only pressed together, at the factory, with a 400 ton press and nothing holds the two halves together, except a wing and a prayer. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO TEAR THE BIKE ENGINE APART, WHEN NEW, AND SPLIT THE CASES, AND TAKE THE FLYWHEEL OUT TO A PERFORMANCE SPECIALTY SHOP THAT WILL DYNAMICALLY TRUE THE TWO HALVES TOGETHER ON A TRUING STAND, PLUG AND WELD THE TWO HALVES TOGETHER AND ACHIEVE A MAX RUN OUT ON THE SHAFTS OF 0.001", to solve that problem.I won't even discuss the cam chain tensioners that are made of PLASTIC that are used on this engine which were designed to wear out and have to replace at a costly price to the owner. The PLASTIC tensioners, rub against a METAL silent chain, one, to operate the oil pump and one to operate the two cams, and failure to periodically inspect and change them out will result in METAL TO METAL CONTACT AND THE METAL SHAVINGS, WILL BE INDUCTED INTO THE OIL PUMP, THE CRANKCASE AND CYLINDERS AND IMMEDIATE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE WILL OCCUR, AND THIS ENGINE IS DONE.There are so many ways to crater this engine, it's almost funny if it wasn't a potential to cause a deadly crash. Imagine when the oil pump craters and the engine seizes at highway speed and the oil pump spews out 250+ hot, oil on the rear wheel, what a thrill ride the biker will have, before he crashes.THERE ARE LOTS OF VIDEOS POSTED ON YOU TUBE BY TWIN CAM OWNERS ON THESE AND MORE PROBLEMS WITH TWIN CAM ENGINES.CAVEAT EMPTOR - LET THE BUYER BEWARE.
Just SO wrong! The new twin cooled engine is the best of both worlds. The water cooling is used to cool the exhaust ports only. This significantly reduces rider heat while maintaining the look and sound of a traditional Harley air cooled engine. The rear cylinder ETMS can be toggled off if you value the idle sound over cooking your crotch. No one cares what your Harley sounds like at idle but if you care so much, feel free to turn the ETMS off and look cool at red lights while you roast your nuts. BTW, the guy in the video DOES mention this system. The 2014+ Ultra Limited is the coolest running Harley ever while maintaining that traditional air cooled look which is what attracts us to Harleys in the first place. Also the water cooled version of this engine puts out more Hp and torque than the non water cooled version in the Ultra.
I noticed you didn't mention the class-action lawsuit against the Motor Company for these heat machines, and heat is an engines worst enemy. I noticed you mentioned nothing about the flywheel assembly which is not bolted together, and will come out of true unless, you tear the new engine down and have it trued, plugged and welded. Noticed. you didn't reference anything about t the two silent chain drive with their cheap PLASTIC TENSIONERS, rubbing against a METAL, chain. Harley could have chosen to drive the two cams with a gear drive instead of a silent chain drive. They will wear out and it's costly to replace them. Why two radiators, instead of one, which the metric bikes have for their even larger displacement, engines? You made my point, these are heat machines, and the inadequate oil pump, only pumps out very little oil pressure at idle, and at cruising speed, only pushes out 35 psi, where, Air cooled Metric V twins, pump out 35 psi, sitting at idle and 70 psi cruising down the highway. Sorry, but, just saying that one is wrong, doesn't cut it, as the two radiators and all that plumbing and the rear cylinder heat shield and rear cylinder shut off sensor, only proves my point.
Right on. It's all true and most Harley buyers of Twin Cams don't even know anything about what they are buying other than a brand. Harley family once got out of the motorcycle business, in 1969-1981, speaking of the family, when they sold the name and factory to AMF a maker of bowling balls.
What difference does it make how he wears his hat? It's obvious that you don't like it, but does it make him do his job differently? That's freaking ridiculous.
One of the best feature rundown videos I've seen. Nicely done!

I am going to try this. Next time that I start up the bike. I will wait and put it in first.
@@stolnpckup I probably sit there a good 30 seconds with the clutch pulled in before going into 1st.
Best Ultra Limited video I've seen. Thanks.
I have a 2017 ultra limited that i biught back in April. I am still learning the features on the bike.
Just bought the Ultra Classic. This video helped for a lot of my bike as well.

Here in 2021 to learn about my new (to me) 2015 Ultra Limited - great video
Thinking about buying this bike. Nice to see such a detailed video about it when it was new.
Just got one with 5k on it. I'm getting shit being 31 with an "old man" bike, but damn it's comfortable as hell.
Best job explaining I have watched yet. Keep updating the new bikes great job
Great vid! Didn't sound like a sales pitch and provided plenty of relevant, useful info.
Thanks.
