If she sang this song today she would kill it vocally! I think that her voice is in good condition now in 2018. I think that she should revisit some of her songs that were not the biggest hit songs of her career, but that her fans knows and loves. Some of her songs are easily underated because her hit singels are so significant. She has a lot of songs that she could revisit and sing more often. I like this song and I think that she should sing this song again. :)
I'm obsessed with her despite people saying that she is no longer as great as she used to be. She is a human, and she gets older and this effects in decreased vocal ability, but seeing as how she's still able to display excellent vocal performance, she is the truly songbird legend.

She was getting pitchy and cracking at the falsetto bridge but she held it together and finished the song strong. Simply an incredible vocal technician, not to mention the emotion she poured in this performance. ❤️
I was listening to this song during one of the darkest moments in my life. It kinda saved me from drowning, so to speak.
I just love how vulnerable Mariah's voice is in this particular performance. Like an angel, wounded, but still pushing through. There is beauty in pain, and I love how this performance reminded me of it. If Mimi can pull through this, then, I can pull through my own struggles as well.

Of all her performances of HATEU, this is the closest she gets to fully live and I commend her for that. The only parts of this song that weren't live were *some* of the whistle notes. The parts where she tries to sing but the notes don't come out show just how hard this song is to sing with the belts intertwined with the falsettos.

2024 here. This is one of my favorite song of MC.
十幾年前還是學生時期，其實更喜歡 OJ Da Juiceman, Big Boi & Gucci mane 的 H.A.T.E.U.REMIX 版本多一點。隨著年紀變大，原版真的好感人，尤其是歌詞寫到
「Sorry, the frustration's got me feeling awake
And I just keep having one last thing to say
And I just wanna hold you, touch you, feel you, be near you
I miss you baby, baby, baby」
這段，原版我每聽必哭。但是這個 live 版太專注想把歌唱好、把音抓準，有點少了情感的堆疊有點可惜哈哈哈！
不過這首歌不只難在海豚音跟喉聲一直輪流轉換，前半段氣不夠長的人都要斷氣了。而且這首歌的音域超級廣，低音很低（對女key而言）、高音很高（對人類而言）。其實就連 MC 她自己這場 live 片段換氣也沒有到很完美，但這已經是無人能敵的程度了。
總結一下首歌困難之處：
1. 氣要夠長，換氣的技巧跟時機要很巧妙。
2. 音域超廣，尤其是從 "we went" 到 "round for round" 跳太多音了，連 MC 在唱的時候都要用手勢輔助自己去抓音準（原來女神跟凡人還是一樣的XD）。
3. 海豚音跟喉音頻繁轉換，就不提海豚音沒多少人唱得出來，這種轉換就算再專業的人，演出應該都還是要靠運氣。誰知道那天會不會忽然喉嚨絨毛忽然比較敏感之類的。
這演出的精采程度，大概就跟華人聽陶喆的普通朋友一樣吧，大家都知道普通朋友的key對男生來說的難度太高，陶喆也只有當年唱過幾次 live 的普通朋友而已，H.A.T.E.U 甚至更難唱。而且這甚至不是什麼演唱會的場地，這只是一般談話節目的攝影棚欸！雖然沒有很完美，但是那個年代能錄到這種程度已經很感人了。
敢上台不墊音唱這些歌的實力派真的很令人感動，懷念那個一堆神歌喉的年代。（絕對沒有貶低現代歌手的意思，只是實力就擺在那邊）
PS 去年年末，聖誕媽祖婆出巡的時候，我一度擔心她隨著年紀，海豚音會飆不上去。趕快去聽了一下，好險還是海豚了一下！哈哈哈
