He’s so nasty with it. He can seamlessly play the entire history of the music in a solo with extra. Makes me want to practice
One of the best saxophone performances. Yes his technique is amazing but he sings and pours his heart and to us. And carries with him the whole tradition of the jazz saxophone!
At one point I even thought Joshua redman was up there with James, but JC is a master of sound. Joshua redman is a good musician but James has mastered the art of sound.
My son, who's a professional sax player himself, said that when JC passes, there will never again be anyone who has this sound. How lucky we are to be alive in the same generation as him and to be able to hear his unique combination of mastery and experimentation.
Alors, j'ai eu cette chance de le voir à Evian en France. J'ai , du reste, constaté qu'il changeait quasiment sa anche après chaque morceau et quand on est soi même saxophoniste on en comprend vite la raison!
A true master in command of his instrument. Just Marvelous.
The best saxophonist in the world
Milo Maestri i wouldn't say that lol.
Milo Maestri the best living, playing saxophonist.. in the world.
....Chris Potter
Yes indeed. There is nobody better.
@@fluidjazz In your dreams...
Obrigado meu Deus por não deixar eu morrer sem ver e ouvir isso!😭😭😭❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
He probably doesn't realize how beautiful "punk rock" he is!!! Best saxophonist I have hey to hear.
This guy is from another world ...
Umami, perfect blend of sweet, salty and full on crazy. And those squealies! Punk rock jazz sax indeed. This guy has it all going on. What I hear in my head when I pick up the horn.......
thumbs up if this gave you chills
I'm proud of him. He a genius and nobody can make the sounds the horn allows you to make. But now him and your brother has a decesion to make. True
4:22 is why Carter is one of the best
"The Move" ;-)
Obviously it's a monster of technique, but this musician has SOUL...!! Rock mr Carter, rock the horn!!!!
As an old tenor player I'm in awe of this guy. Must have the tongue of a Viper.
Just brought home my first saxaphone today. This is aweaome
Carter just toys with that thing. I’ve never heard anyone like him.
thank you Mr. James and band. That was a true baptism of spirit!!
There's no other one like him...
How in the World a Man like him came to exist...!
The one only, Jimmy James Carter
Universal control of the horn, for sure, the Man's way out there, magic.
Power, Energy, Creativity, Technique, Control, Soul, Romance, Pugnacity, Tradition...
Old School, New School, Middle Ages...
Incroyable 🎷💎
멋진연주 최고입니다 ❤❤❤
wow...been a while since i saw james carter play. watched him for many years playing winter nights at st. nicks pub. He has found a touch of Johnny Hodges, Ben Webster and the suave of the prez. my friends this man gets better everyday.
The Michael Jordan of the Saxophone !
Person in a thesis : 'Man, a thesis is so hard to go through'
A medecine Intern : 'Are you kidding ? It's a piece of cake in front of my experience'
James Carter's reed : 'Hold my beer' *squeaks painfully*
Виртуозно и красиво!
any doubt he isn't the best sax player?! he's so awesome!!!!!!!! :)))
Top top!
very very good all..........................................................
jc on set... enjoy..
This performance makes me want to slip on a red dress and pop a bottle of champagne...and I'm a dude. A happily married to a woman dude that is very manly. I wouldn't even feel ashamed wearing it. Carter's sax personality, style, and musical communication pierces the soul and melts the heart. No words are necessary when he breathes through it. You know exactly what he's thinking and saying. The best.
So you’re a ‘lil gay for James Carter, right?😹
I saw James Carter in Montreal 2 times, he's the best saxophonist of his time
I have no words, mybe one...awesome
My hero
One of His Best Performances !
The name of this tune is "Street Of Dreams"

Geneal 🎉
INCREDIBLE!!!
just awesome...wow.
I hear a lot of Earl Bostic in his playing. That is not a bad thing!
Steven Oliver yes!! Great ear you have. Earl Bostic is incredible and my favorite saxophone player.
5:37 masterful
living legend
Don't forget about the great pianist too!
+OreoDog That's for sure!! A great pianist!!!
「あなたのコンテンツはとても感動的です」、
Magnificent
Fermecător... mersi .
I don’t think there is a greater talent alive. Although I love his uniqueness, I feel that if he played more traditional music (like most of this video), he would be more recognized for his remarkable skills…the crazy “noises” mostly only appeal to genuine jazz enthusiasts. I would love to hear him play more Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins, Trane…but with his unique touches
Is no one gonna mention how when the piano played at 5:38 James Carter looked him with a smug face copied it and ended it with a slap tounge.
holy shit - that is crazy
Master the másters
Nice one!
Good God.
Bro, if anyone could tell me how to do, or if I could figure out these techniques, I damn sure would use them all the damn time.
Fuck it, I'm calling police for saxophone abuse then carrying my ass to go practice. Shit is wild.
How does he do those rip like scoops? i love the sound of it.
Toca muito hein? Alguém sabe informar qual boquilha toca?
where has our love gone?
Wow
He seems to have listened a lot to Don Byas.
NOSSA! TOCA MUINTOOOO!!!!
1:24
It wouldn't make it past Dexter or Stitt, and I'm not even sure about Illinois Jacquet, but he's a good showman. And instrumental music needs more like him.
cudownie
04:20~04:25
damm..... good
WoW ! POP that Reed !! ~
damn...
Tocar muitor
Absolute control and mastery of the Horn, but it kind of hurts?
класс
Can someone explain how he plays 2 notes at once at 1:19
try search multiphonic
Overtones. Better known as Multi phonics on woodwind Instruments
Byas, he shows that yes - but tricks-wise this was Sam Taylor or Willis Jackson, Rusty Bryant
Does some know what this song is actually called??
nick Bredal Worried and Blue.
Street of Dreams
Punky !
I hope his bank account reflects his talent!
02:00 Laura
Whaaaaaaaaaaat?!!!! Hail to the CHIEF! Attention!
The girl in the public (in the center, at the right of the man with long hair) at 1:54 looks like Michelle Obama
scorching .
Sorry, but music is not a circus act. He's got chops to burn, but, showing off gets in the way of THE MUSIC! More music, less acrobatics por favor James...
Crawl back into your hole cretin.
James feels the music 🎷
That's like telling Eddie Van Halen not to tap...Steve Vai not to make facial expressions, or Zakk Wylde not to use vibrato. Carter IS the music.
James Carter is all-in, every time. He has the dynamic, expressive, emotional range from just above "zero" to "eleven," and uses it ALL. I will grant you he takes you all the way around the world and back again in one tune, so that one might need to rest for a bit -- or a day or 2 -- before going around again with him on the next one.
